"PLUM ISLAND" EXTENSION OF "NEWBURY AND NEWBURYPORT" MA

Plum Island is a small barrier island just off the extreme northeast coast of Massachusetts and is part of Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, and Ipswich. The residential part is mainly Newbury and Newburyport; you can tell which part is which by the color of the street signs; green for Newbury and blue for Newburyport. The island is named for the hundreds of beach-plum bushes growing everywhere. (The harvest is unpredictable from year to year, but the small plums make great jam or jelly when you can get enough of them to bother with.) The clickable plum at the bottom of the page is from a bush on Old Point Road. It's about 2/3 actual size (depending on your monitor).

The island is separated - barely - from the mainland by the Parker River; the northern tip is at the mouth of the Merrimac River. Most of Plum Island (the southern part) is the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, but the northern portion is densely settled with both year-round and seasonal residents. Plum Island is a small barrier island just off the extreme northeast coast of Massachusetts and is part of Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, and Ipswich. The residential part is mainly Newbury and Newburyport; you can tell which part is which by the color of the street signs; green for Newbury and blue for Newburyport. The island is named for the hundreds of beach-plum bushes growing everywhere. (The harvest is unpredictable from year to year, but the small plums make great jam or jelly when you can get enough of them to bother with.) "Century 21" Responds to "60 Minute" Aired May 13th 2007

As you may know, "60 Minutes", a CBS news magazine, aired a segment on Sunday, May 13, titled "Chipping at REALTOR's Six Percent." The segment challenged traditional sales associates' commission rates and services as well as industry competition.
Century 21 Real Estate LLC, Realogy and the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) have taken a strong stand against the segment. We feel the facts were not represented accurately.
Alex Perriello, President & CEO of the Realogy Franchise Group, today sent a response letter to the executive producer of "60 Minutes". In the letter he states, "Putting aside the inaccuracies regarding "sacrosanct" commission rates, lack of industry oversight and state governments conspiring to stifle competition, the segment grossly oversimplified the complexity of buying and selling a property." Please feel free to share the letter with your sales associates and clients.
It goes on to say, "The bottom line is that consumers have ample choice when deciding which real estate company and business model they prefer to represent them in a transaction. Competition is good for the consumer and the industry and is the basis of our free market economy. At the end of the day, the companies that offer the best value proposition to home buyers and sellers will prosper."

Boston Landmark- Lenny Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge

Designed by HNTB, the Lenny Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge, over the Charles River, in Boston is an unusual structure. The 185 ft. width of this bridge makes it the widest of its kind in the world. The two bridge cable-stayed project is priced at $100 million. The service load and dynamic forces are complicated by the asymmetric, and unusual cable stay geometry.

This bridge will be the widest cable-stayed bridge in the world at ten lanes wide. It is replacing the upper and lower decks of I-93. With twin spires that echo the Bunker Hill Monument this bridge will be a landmark for Boston.

My husband had the honor or working on this wonderful structure, and our family will always think of him when we pass over the Lenny Zakim Bridge in Boston MA
