Thursday with sunshine and mild temperatures. 70's to 75 across our area... that's 70 at the beaches 75 in San Bernardino. Also repeating yesterday's front page news of Business section of LA Times; prices and sale up again in the southland... in fact sales increased 24 percent in LA County. This is the 17^th straight month for increases! Today we learn that LA housing starts are up again. Things are moving in the right direction.

Tuesday, sunny and bright. That's what we love about SoCal. Low to mid 60's across the area. The media that's been dogging Tiger Woods is going to be hurt by lack of ratings until he returns.

Real estate in our area: We notice there are many homes on the market some short sales, foreclosures and regular homes for sale. We have clients looking and guess what? It appears the quality of what we consider "good homes/values" are not out there. There's inventory but not what our clients are looking for. It's like going to a department store sale late; the good stuff is gone... Interesting huh? That's our take in our area. Thought you should know. Perhaps this is the downside of the current foreclosure, refinancing business? We'll keep you posted. Good houses are ouy there just don't expect a great deal.

Monday. Mostly sunny and cool. Low 60's from the beaches to inland areas. Heavy rain tapered off, skies cleared and residents of the Los Angeles area foothills started returning home Sunday, a day after they fled because of fears that heavy rains would cause mudslides.

Although there are indications that "house flipping" is back in vogue... We advise you take a second look before jumping in. Flipping houses for profit sounds good but it takes a real expert to pull it off. We think the climate locally is not conducive to flipping.

What is it that drives many of us to revel in another's misery? Seeing the big and famous fall? It is a strange phenomenon... How many of you have received "humorous" Tiger Woods emails? There seems to be a silent message behind it... The problem is not Tiger Woods. There is more to it. Is it; jealousy, hatred, anger? I don't know... but it certainly could be replaced by love, compassion and understanding.

We all make mistakes and until you walk in another man's shoes, you'll never understand why a person does what they do.

Today will be another unhappy Thursday for Tiger Woods as the media frenzy continues. Although we don't condone what he's done we realize he is a human being who has done more charitable work than many of us put together. It's a tragedy but this is something he has to work out privately with his family. Let him work out his transgression and we'll work out our imperfections. He is only human. If he were perfect he wouldn't be here. Pray for his family and him. Remember, many great people have had "transgressions" in their lives. Think about that...

Real Estate news:

With Congress' recent extension of the $8,000 homebuyer tax credit, intended to boost home purchases from new and existing homeowners, Congress has surely boosted, if not encouraged, another less desirable behavior: tax fraud. At the end of September, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had issued almost $10 billion in tax credits to 1.4 million homebuyers claiming the credit. At the same time, the IRS's Criminal Investigation (CI) division had found 167 criminal schemes involving the tax credit. Still more fraudulent behavior has been reported.

In the meantime, the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) reports that it currently has over 1,340 open investigations into possible loan modification scams. This is up over 10,000% from August 2008, when only ten modification programs were under investigation. So far in 2009, the DRE has issued over 330 desist-and-refrain orders in its attempt to put a stop to illegal loan modification programs.

A lot of chatter out there about Tiger Woods. What do I think? Who cares what happened. It's his business. If we all spent more time worrying about our actions instead of others, I think we'd be better off. He's human. Let it go.

How was your Cyber Monday? Ours was great, it was our dog Bess' 2 year birthday. We partied and got into the spirit of the birthday and holidays. It's great getting old because you amaze yourself at the funky things you enjoy doing. Remember, if you can; do a good deed for someone old, lonely or sick. Spread the spirit around... it's infectious!

By the way, Cyber-Monday? It was a huge success! That surprised a lot of folks.

The government is working on penalizing lenders who are not responsive to people needing adjustments on their monthly mortgage payments. This means people who are current and struggling to stay current will ultimately be penalized if the government (who shouldn't be involved anyway) punishes the lenders. The upshot; If the gov. forces lenders to reduce payments... the money lost by lenders will be recouped in the future by taxing the middle class. That would be your children. Can't we keep the government out of private business?

This isn't just any Monday, it's "Cyber-Monday". More on that later... Welcome to the blog on Monday where the skies will be clear and the temperatures will be from the low to mid 70's across the southland. Beautiful weather on this, the last day of November. We're in the holiday season get into the spirit!

Cyber Monday? That's the latest sales hype being generated through advertising and the media. Look for that catchy phrase to be added to the American dictionary. See, today is the day you're being urged to buy something over the internet. Great deals are promised. Check your junk email... Everybody is trying harder and harder to get your buck. The small shops lose out, the big conglomerates cash in... We are left with... less holiday spirit. We need more kindness, love and joy in our lives at this time. If you can; do a good deed for someone old, lonely or sick. Spread the spirit around... it's infectious!

By the way, Black Friday? Sales up 5% from last year. That surprised a lot of folks.

Sunday, mostly cloudy and cool again today. 60's cross the board from Santa Monica to San Bernardino. It's supposed to be windy at times too and perhaps some showers.

You know what's great about today? Even though it's Sunday and Monday is lurking, we're at the beginning of the holiday season. See if you can spread around some of that holiday spirit. We need that now more than ever, send out the good vibes to all.

SC romps UCLA at the coliseum last night. ND is beaten by Stanford in the last minute last night. The Lakers won.

Saturday, and mostly cloudy today and cool. 6o's cross the board from Santa Monica to San Bernardino. It's supposed to be windy at times too. Maybe even get some showers. It sprinkled last night in the Hollywood Hills.

Black Friday's come and gone and I'm still here even though I didn't go shopping. Today may be Black Saturday for one high profile college football coach. Here's a clue; his team plays Sanford today at 5pm our time on ABC. Good news/bad news? You make the call.

Thanksgiving weekend is one of those holidays where realtors actually take time off. So we're going to make this short. Have a great weekend. Don't forget to compile that list (1 item a day) of things you're thankful for. Today is day 3. We're going till Dec 25^th

Friday, sunny, clear and cooler with a chance of rain this evening and snow in the local mountains. I remember when we'd spend the long Thanksgiving weekends in Wrightwood and it would snow and there would be skiing for the weekend. Wouldn't that be great!

Black Friday? Another media created event day to herd the cattle out the door and into the shops. Remember when Christmas shopping used to be fun? Shop when you want and at your own pace. Don't get caught up in the media frenzied hype. Remember last year the story of the man trampled to death by frantic holiday shoppers? Relax, shop at your own pace there's plenty of deals and things to go round.

New home sales up 6.2% from October which is another indication the real estate market is recovering.

Wednesday... Plenty of sunshine again...Mid 70's at the beaches, mid 80's in the valleys. This is a holiday shortened work week! Hereare 5 reasons why we love short work weeks.

Get to sleep in.
Get to stay out late.
Get to hang with your family.
Get to hang with your friends.
Get to live your life, free as a bird.

Tuesday ... Plenty of sunshine and plenty o warmer temps! 70's at the beaches and mid 89's inland. Dry conditions; please be careful in fire danger areas. Short work week!

My favorite TV show is House and I've finally figured out why; it's because that's what I'm doing now... Selling and buying houses. The show is okay... but the name House is fantastic. It's a subliminal mental confirmation to me that I must be doing the right thing being in real estate. A lot of people must be into real estate because House is a very popular show. Of course, I'm joking. Looking for justification and validation from the universe to demonstrate to me why I'm doing what I'm doing. Actually, what we're doing must be good. Monday ... Plenty of sunshine the mid 60's at the beaches to low 70's inland... just like yesterday. Short work week! MNF tonight on ESPN... Is it an important game? Don't know. I seem to be getting tired of watching football on TV. I saw that every Monday. I guess there is little else to choose from.

Here's a question for you. Have you seen the CBS promos depicting Kate Couric as a "journalist"? Now that would be a great theme for a sitcom. Katie the Journalist. She is depicted sitting at a keyboard typing (laugh track) Voice Over: When the truth is irrelevant; America turns to CBS (laugh track)

What's happening to our world? Wonder how she got the job? We know... but it's not our place to start rumors.
