WALK TO PREVENT SUICIDE - SEPTEMBER 27, 2008

Portsmouth will be holding its Out of Darkness Community Walk on September 27, 2008 to help support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Anyone interested in participating should register at the Portsmouth Outdoor Pool at Pierce Island at 9:00. The fundraising walk will start at 10:00.

Recent tests at Townhouse Pond in Milton, NH indicate that there are high levels of chlorophyll, a dangerous component of "Blue Green Algae". Chlorophyll can impact the ponds environment and could be harmful to humans as well.

The troubling aspect of this is that Milton's Town Beach is located on Townhouse Pond and two of the towns wells are close by.

Slow Down ...

Slow Down ..

I read a poem this week emailed to me by a good friend .. I normally just delete this stuff, but it really grabbed my attention. The poem was written by a teenage girl with cancer and was forwarded by her doctor to pass on.

It grabbed me because probably like most of you Im running from one appointment to another and only stopping long enough to check voice mails and to make more calls. Well about a year ago my father died unexpectedly in a tragic accident. What a life changing event that was for me. I quickly realized that life is in fact short and you never know when your time may be up. You see I have three daughters, ages 13, 10 and 5 and the only thing I could think about after my dad passed was taking that little extra time to stop and spend with them.

So in these troubled times of real estate I know most of you are probably working twice as hard to get that next deal, but remember when your gone nobody will remember what homes you sold, but they will remember all the little times you spent with them building memories.

So in leaving I want you to slow down .... enjoy the poem

Slow Dance

This is a poem

Worried about this years flooding in Rochester New Hampshire?

Well anyone living in the Rochester area knows the past few years have been very interesting when its come to our flooding rivers, streams and dams. The 100 year flood ... has hit us twice now ... imagine that. Well with the record snow falls we had this year and the up coming spring thaw and rainy season begs to ask will we have another flood season. Several of our roads and bridges have now been repaired or replaced .. some still under construction. So are we any better off and will our homes be safe?

I can tell you it was very difficult to get around when roads and bridges were closed for several days and some even for a year. If you have any concerns of this years spring thaw and you live in one of those areas of possible flooding you can visit the city of Rochester's website to view important safety information.

Rochester New Hampshire's new garbage collection program

CART (Collecting All Recyclables & Trash)

Start Date to be May 12th, 2008

After some great debate in the city chambers and lengthly review of the city's agreement with the Waste Management facility located at Rochester Neck Rd, Rochester has oppted to implement its new CART (Collecting All Recyclables & Trash) program for the city's garbage collection.

The goal is to make garbage collection more streamlined and efficient. This new collection system will increase the collection rate of recyclable materials and keep them from being dumped into the current land fill which will soon reach its maximum capacity.

The city has been using a pilot program in some parts of the city to see how this program would do ... now it will be implemented city wide. If your living in Rochester or thinking of moving here visit the link below to see the CART Brochure located on the city's website.

Are print ads in magazines and news papers for Real Estate a dieing breed?

Every new year I ponder over my expenses from the previouse one and wonder where will I spend my money for advertising? I have religously advertised my listings in magazines and on a few occaissions in the local newspaper with very little to no response from them. I have tried a variety from fancy colored pictured ones to the basic black and white.

Does anyone have any luck with this or is it a dieing breed? Is it the type of homes, price or location thats advertised?

Sellers seem to insist on it, but do you get the return on investment?

Looking for some great information on the several Lakes and Ponds that New Hampshire has to offer? Well I came across an excellent website put out by the State of New Hampshire that covers just that. It has a link to every Lake and Pond in New Hampshire. Each link has a colored map of that body of water, it indicates max and min water depths, how big the body of water is and what fish can be found. Very good information!
