This morning I Googled "Independence Day'. The first thing to pop up was Find the nearest fireworks display or Independence Day celebration‎. Not quite what I was looking for. I did, however find a few facts that I thought were interesting - not mind blowing... just a few things that made me go 'hmmmm'.

The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 2^nd, 1976, not on July 4^th.
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were both Founding Fathers of the United States.
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were the only two men that signed the Declaration and became President.
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on the 50^th anniversary of the United States, July 4^th, 1826.
In 1980, Independence Day was an unpaid holiday for federal employees. It became a paid holiday in 1938.

It's Raining in Roswell Georgia - But we still have Watering Restrictions

IT'S RAINING IN ROSWELL !!!

It rained yesterday.

It's raining today.

Tomorrow the forcast calls for "Strong Storms".

The rain gage in my back yard says we've had just
over a half an inch of rain since yesterday.

Blooms are being knocked to the ground.

The pollen is being washed away.

My yard is greening up.

Birds are singing their praise.

I recently read that rain and snow since last November have added 6 feet of water to Lake Lanier.

Unfortunately, this is still isn't enough.

We're still in a drought situation.

Roswell and the surrounding Metro Atlanta areas still have watering restrictions.

CNN Reports: Steven Good, Real estate power broker dead of apparent suicide

I just read on CNN that Steven Good, described as a Real Estate mogul, was found dead, sitting in his Jaguar on Monday. They have no idea how long he had been there and it appears that he shot himself.

This man was chairman and chief executive officer of a major real estate auction company, did business with Donald Trump and wrote a book. Everything that I've read about him says good things. The article went on to say that he was a leader, generous and had a very positive attitude.

I know things are tough right now and folks are stressed. I just find it so, so sad when someone thinks there is no other way out other than to commit suicide.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Good's family, friends and business associates.

Looking for Home Office Product Recommendations

I'd like to start spending less time traveling to the office, schleping whatever files I'm working on, setting up my laptop, packing it all up and then traveling back home.

I bought a great desk at a yard sale for $10 and had it refinished.

I'm ready to sit at it and sell, sell, sell Real Estate in Roswell, Georgia!

I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations for all-in-one printers, on-line fax services and whatever else you think I might need to help my clients buy and sell houses from home.

As far as the printer goes... I know I want one that automatically feeds paper for easier faxing and scanning, can print duplex, and has a fairly high print speed rate.

As for on-line faxing... I have no clue what I want.

I'd love to know what you have in your home office.

I love to hit the yard sales in the Roswell, Alpharetta and East Cobb County areas.

I get a thrill finding great buys, checking out the neighborhoods and seeing what's for sale around me.

Wearing my RE/MAX pin and sporting RE/MAX Magnets on my car,
I also use Yard Sales to prospect.
I want all that are around me to know that I am a Real Estate Agent.
I chat with folks and learn why they're having a yard sale.
Are they downsizing and getting ready to sell their house?

If the house is already on the market, have they had many showings?

Well.... I was out and about a couple of weeks ago doing my thing....
I was having a great day....
I found pretty pewter plates to use to put cookies on and give away as gifts for the holidays.
I found some great stationary, some odd plates that I could use to put under planters in the house,

The best thing that I found, though, was recognition!

On August 3^rd, Jackie sent me a lengthy email telling me that it was possible the she and her family would be moving to Roswell Georgia. She told me what size home she was looking for and in what price range.

I responded with an email of my own thanking her for her email, asking pertinent questions and telling her that I was flattered that she chose me to help her and her family find a home here in Roswell.

Sadly, though, the email bounced back.
The message that I got said, "This user doesn't have a xxx.com account".
I'm guessing that Jackie fat-fingered her email address when sending me an email from ActiveRain.
Don't you just hate when that happens???

Roswell Georgia plans to go Dark for Earth Hour

Last year in Syndey, Australia, an an effort to fight global warming, all non-essential lights were turned off for an hour. The use of power dropped 10% during that hour.

Tomorrow, March 29th, Roswell Georgia officials are asking it's 90,000 residents and businesses do the same thing. The event is being organized around the world by World Wildlife Fund, a conservation organization. Locally in Roswell, this effort is being organized by the non-profit organization, Keep Roswell Beautiful.

What can you do to participate???

On March 29th, from 8 - 9pm, turn off all lights that are not needed to live. Streetlights and other public safety-designed lighting will stay lit. You don't have to live or have a business in Roswell Georgia to participate.

Want information on how you can be more involved???

Register at http://www.earthhour.org/ as either an individual, organization, school or business. You'll get information on what you can do to be more involved in Earth Hour, including useful tools and tips.

Spring Yard Sale in Woodstock Georgia: To Help Support Animal Rescue Efforts

There is something about a Yard Sale I just cannot resist.

I especially like buying at a Yard Sale if the owner of the items I'm interested in has a story to tell about that item. If it was something special, I let the owner know that I will cherish and take care of whatever I purchased as if the story behind it were my own.

Today, I'll be going to my first Yard Sale of the Season. It's being put together by Pet Lovers all over Cherokee County. The proceeds will go to the Cherokee County Humane Society and other animal rescue efforts!

It was planned for last weekend but due to the storms that blew through our area, it will be held TODAY!!!!

A 71 year old Real Estate Agent was killed Tuesday night and left in a vacant house after showing it.
The man that she met there has been arrested.

It could have been me or you!

Just a Reminder

1. If possible, get a copy of your client's driver's license or some other form of ID.

2. Always let someone know where you are and whom you're with.

3. Have some one scheduled to call you a couple of times while you're out with a client to check in on you.

4. Have a code to let whoever is calling know if things are 'fine', 'iffy', or 'not good at all'.

This is the first time I have ever heard about March being Frozen Food Month. I got a newsletter from Mary Hunt, author of Everyday Cheapskate telling me about it. Now I have to tell you!

Thanks to Clarence Birdseye, who found a way to make flash-freezing both economical and commercial, we have been eating frozen veggies since the late 1920's.

Is it possible that frozen veggies can sometimes be more nutritious than fresh???. Mary Hunt wrote.....

"Here's the deal: Most vitamins will keep well in frozen vegetables. Carotene (a compound that is converted to vitamin A in the body) may actually be better preserved in frozen produce because packaging keeps the vegetables away from light, which destroys carotene. For example, frozen peas (one of your columnist's all-time favorite foods) typically have about 60 percent more carotene than fresh peas, which have been exposed to light during their trip to the market and while waiting to be purchased"

I don't know about the rest of you, but peas are not my favorite.
That's not to say that I don't have a few bags of peas in my freezer.
I just don't eat them. Instead, I use them as ice packs for injuries.
They really form nicely to knees and elbows, you don't have to worry about water leaks and you can throw them back back in the freezer to use again later.

I held an Open House yesterday at a Bank Owned Townhouse.

This townhouse is located in Historic Roswell, Georgia.

It is in walking distance to shopping, antique stores, restaurants, Art Galleries, and parks.

This end unit townhome has the master bedroom on the main floor.
Upstairs is another bedroom, a bonus room and the laundry room.
