I admit...I am one to fill these surveys out on an every-day-basis. It's just something my friends and I do to keep in touch, and share a laugh or two throughout the workday. This one however is a little different so I hope you enjoy my answers and start tagging your friends so you can enjoy theirs too! I look forward to reading yours if/when you answer these 8 "simple" questions...

PS...You will soon learn that it is very hard for me to pick "just one" on some of these categories...

1. Who is your favorite musical artist?

Well of course I'm going to say my fiancè, Ken Hill, on this one. I am his number 1 fan....awwwww..... He is a very talented musician and has a way of touching you with his music. He plays guitar on a regular basis, and we joke that his mistress is Leslie (His Les Paul Guitar). He is always playing...it's what he loves. Not only does he play guitar, but he's pretty good at drums and he even has a good voice! I'll tell you what...there is just something about those musicians!

I also have another close friend, Brian Van Meter, who is a musician, and his music has been a long time coming. He was born with music in his veins, and I knew it was only a matter of time before the world would fall in love with his music and lyrics. He is a hard worker and very dedicated. This past month his music was played for the first time on a TV show! Mind you it was a 30 second clip of sound, but it was a moment to be written down. I'm also a big country fan and you can't ask me my favorite...there are just too many of them! I blame it on my best friend, Tabitha, and all the fun times we have at country concerts. My next one will be in August and it will be KENNY CHESNEY!!!! So excited!

2. Who is your favorite artist?

Now this question I can answer with just one... Vincent Van Gogh. Two of my favorite paintings of his are of course The Starry Night and Cafe Terrace at Night. I have a thing for stars, so when I first saw his painting The Starry Night I was hooked!

3. Who is your favorite blogger?

I don't have a favorite blogger....yet. I'm still fairly new to ActiveRain and haven't really perused everyone's pages like I want to. I will keep this question for a future blog where I will be able to answer better!!

4. If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

I guess it doesn't really count, since I know them, but I would give anything to have just a few more moments with my mom. Especially at this time of my life, planning a wedding, beginning a new chapter of my life. Nothing would help me more than to have a hug from my mom, lay my head in her lap and have her play with my hair. Most comfortable feeling in the world to me! My mom passed away when I was eight years old so there's still so much I would like to learn about her. So that's my pick. I would love to have another day with my momma.

5. What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a nurse or a doctor. When I was four I learned more in depth about my mom's sickness. She was a Type I diabetic. I told her I was going to go into the medical field to help cure her. At the age of six I learned how to give insulin shots. I was taught with oranges and raw meat. Unfortunately the day we lost her was the day my phobia for hospitals came about. I can't step foot in a hospital without thinking about my mom. She spent way too much time in hospitals. To this day I've always had nursing in the back of my mind but I know I can't do it. I will get too emotionally attached to patients. My best friend is a nurse and I have the highest respect and admiration for her. Even though she enjoys telling me the gross stories, usually while we are eating at Chili's having a glass of wine and our molten cake, she tells me the happy endings, and the sad endings too. I don't know how she does it, but I know her patients are in good hands!

6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?

Because I love this movie so much I must quote Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman" Your foot is the same length as your wrist to your elbow. Go ahead you know you want to see if I'm right...I'm not ashamed I did it when I first saw the movie...lol

7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?

I would like to see what it was like growing up when my grandmom was a kid. Or even when my dad was a kid. I hear so many interesting stories that I would love to see it in person. My dad would describe all the games he used to play. Or all the tricks he used to play on his six sisters. Yes I said six... he was the baby of seven kids. Even though he was the youngest, he tormented his sisters all the time! I want to go back to that time and see them get him back...haha! You know they had to play dress up with him when he was too young to protest! That image would be priceless!!!

8. What is the most interesting job you have held?

I've had a lot of jobs, but my current one as a title agent is probably the most interesting. I love going to work and facing new challenges. This job definitely gives you a sense of accomplishment. It makes you want to learn more and more.

So now I have to pick 8 people...like I said I am new to ActiveRain so I don't have many "friends" on here, but I am going to peruse some pages and see who I think will one) be my friend and two) enjoy this little questionnaire... Hope everyone has a great day!!

Newlyweds: Closing on Your New Home!

Closing day is the day when the keys are in your hands and the home offiially becomes yours. It is usually 30 days or more after the contract has been signed. Your contract will typically reflect an anticipated closing date.

At this time the closing agent or attorney delivers a closing statement or HUD settlement statement to the purchaser and seller. In North Carolina, attorneys are required for real estate closings while other states allow title companies to perform this function. The closing agent will ask the purchaser to sign the promissory note, bond or other evidence of indebtness, promising to repay the the purchase money loan as well as a security instrument (mortgage) which makes the property the security for the loan.

Be sure you understand what you are signing. If you do not have a lawyer, the closing agent will help you with the legal terms. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

The big moment comes when the closing agent asks the seller to execute a deed to convey to the purchase "title" to the property. This means that you own the property!

When the documents are in order, you will pay the balance of the down payment, if any, and your share of the settlement costs. After closing, the closing agent will record the deed and mortgage in the local property records. When recorded, the deed will be mailed to you. The mortgage remains on record as a lien or claim against the home until your loan has been paid off.

The promissory note that you will sign at the closing is a negotiable instrument. Your lender may sell, assign or transfer it to another investor without prior notice to you. Such a sale would transfer the lender's right to repayment of the loan and you might be advised of a change in the procedures to be followed in making your loan payments. Your rights and obligations remain unchanged, as are those of the loan holder.

At closing, you will also receive other important papers for your files. Items like the builder's warranty (if you are buying a newly constructed house), receipts for the payments you make, a copy of the survey (if required) showing the boundaries of your property, and your copy of the closing statement are some of these. Receiving title insurance and having an owner's title policy gives you personal protection on your property.

Your closing statement or "HUD" will show the amounts you owe for the down payment, if any, and for other closing costs, as well as amounts you have already paid. We contact you before closing. Normally, the sellers, their agent, your agent and your loan officer attend the closing to insure you have no questions.

Annual Percentage Rate (A.P.R.) - The actual interest rate for the projected life of a mortgage. This takes into account points showing the payment amount, interest, principal and unpaid balance for the entire term of the loan. It's found on TIL - Truth in Lending.

Appraisal - Estimate of a property's value as of a given date, determined by a qualified professional appraiser. The value may be based on replacement cost, the sales of comparable properties or the property's ability to produce income.

Closing Costs - Cost payable by both seller and buyer at the time of settlement, when the purchase of a property is finalized. These costs can be up to ten percent of the mortgage amount. (It is sometimes written out as "CC").

Commitment Fee - A fee charged when an agreement is reached between a lender and a borrower for a loan at a specific rate and points in which the lender guarantees to lock in that rate.

Conventional Loan - A mortgage loan that is not insured, guaranteed or funded by the Veterans Administration (VA), the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) or Rural Economic Community Development (RECD) (formerly known as Farmers Home Administration.)

Debt-to-Income-Ratio - The ratio between a borrower's monthly payment obligation divided by his or her net effective income (FHA or VA loans) or gross monthly income (conventional loans). (It is sometimes written out as "DTI").

Down Payment - The difference between the purchase price and mortgage amount. The down payment becomes the property equity. Typically is should be cash savings, but it can also be a gift that is not to be repaid or a borrowed amount secured by assets. This effects your Loan-to-Value / LTV.

Earnest Money - Deposit in the form of cash or a note, given to a seller by a buyer as good faith assurance that the buyer intends to go through with the purchase of a property.

Escrow - The holding of documents and money by a neutral third party prior to closing; an account held by a lender (or services) in which a homeowner pays money for taxes and insurance.

FHA (Federal Housing Administration) - An agency within the Department of Housing and Urban Development that sets standards for underwriting as well as insures residential mortgage loans made by private lenders.

Fixed-Rate Mortgage - A mortgage whose rate remains constant throughout the life of the mortgage.

Good Faith Estimate - An estimate on closing costs and monthly mortgage payments provided by the lender to the homebuyer within 3 days. It is sometimes called a "GFE".

Homeowners Insurance - A form of insurance that protects the insured property against loss from theft, liability and most common disasters. (It is sometimes written out as "HO Ins.")

Lock-In - The guarantee of a specific interest rate and/or points for a specific period of time. Some lenders will charge a fee for locking in an interest rate.

Mortgage Insurance Premium (MIP) - Money paid to insure the lender against loss due to foreclosure or loan default.

Origination Fee - A fee charged that a lender charges to originate and close a mortgage loan. Origination fees are usually expressed in points.

Pre Qualification - Tentative establishment of a borrower's qualification for a mortgage loan amount of a specific range, based on the borrower's assets, debts and income.

HUD-1 - Required as part of hte Real Estate Settlement Proceedures Act (RESPA), the final HUD-1 or HUD-1A allows the borrower to know specifically the costs of the loan and to whom the fees are being allotted.

Closing Table - An industry slang term referring to the actual place the residential mortgage closing takes place (in NC it's normally at a conference table at the attorneys office).

Title Insurance - A policy issued by a title insurance company insuring the purchaser against any error in the title search. The buyer, the seller or both may pay for the cost of the title insurance.
