Good news on the ecomony today!

After a year of pretty bad news in the real estate market nationally, it was about time to hear some good news. Unemployment rate falls to 10%, U.S. job losses in November posted the smallest drop since the start of the recession. This is good news that the economy is moving in the right direction.

The dollar also took flight on the good news on unemployment. in the U.S. job market, The dollar did really well against the yen and the euro posting its highest gain in two weeks. So what does all this mean for Maui real estate. Is confidence in the market place and buyers experiencing great real estate opportunities, its time to get off the fence. Along with the good news is that the Federal Reserve might begin to move towards raising interest rates in the near future. So if you been waiting to buy Maui real estate, there has never been a better time.

Live Maui, Love Maui!

Everyone loves Maui for different reasons. As well as why people move here in the first place. Maui is so diverse and has so many different options. I know when I was 19 and moved to Maui it was to surf and live the island life. Now that I have raised a family of four and just about a grandfather of two grand daughters. Maui still holds the diversity that makes me thankful for living here.

For some the Upcountry life is what pulls them to Maui. Maybe you are into horses or just like cooler climate of Kula Maui. You will find beautiful Kula Maui homes for sale offering scenic ocean views and rolling hills.

Upcountry Maui also draws the artist community with art classes offered at the Hui No'eau Art Center. Then there is Art Maui which features Maui's top artist at The Maui Arts & Cultural Center. My wife has had her art work on display there.

Maui snowbirds have arrived on Maui. The annual migration of winter visitors is officially begun with Thanksgiving week. In the Kihei Maui condo market, business has really picked up. First Time Home Buyer Credits Extended

First time home buyer credits extended by President Obama. This is good new for those who time ran out to purchase your new home. He signed legislation extending the $8,000 first time home buyer credit. They also created a $6,500 tax credit for longtime homeowners who are buying new homes. Under the new law, the credits are available to qualifying buyers who sign a binding contract by April 20, 2010, and who close by June 30, 2009 You are considered a first time home buyer if you have not owned a home for 3-years. A credit is available only for the home you are going to live in. For the first time home buyer, the credit is 10% of the purchase price up to $8,000 credit. Long-time home owners can get a credit; the maximum is $6,500, up to $800,000 purchase amount. Income levels for singles $125,000 to $145,000 and $225,000 to $245,000 for married couples. To quality for $6,500 tax credit you have to have lived in your home for 5-years or more.
