As of today Microsoft still controls about 90% of the pc market but Apple is slowly starting to chip away at its dominance. I am MSFT is trading at 35 and some change and might finally make a move to the lower 40's for the first time in years! Appl on the other hand is trading at 185 and some change and does not look like it is looking back anytime soon.

Who here on active rain will buy a new apple with there new leapoard OS loaded on it or will everyone stick with the PC with Vista. Just curious to what everyones' thoughts are or opinions. Also both of these companies are great buys, you should look into them!

Loris Bog-Off

For those of you who are locals in Horry County and decided not to attend this years Loris Bog-Off you missed out on one of the biggest festivals in Horry County in a long long time! We had over 185 vendors, some of the best food around in the South, and of course elephant ears!! By noon the Crowds were well over 20,000 strong and they stayed around unil well after the concert!

We had a display booth there and recieved some great exposure in the local market and had a great time as well meeting everyone in town! What a day! It was perfect for October! Now for those of you who stayed for the fireworks show you recieved one of the best displays in the whole South! It was spectacular! Not to mention the concert that followed! Trent did an awesome job!

I hope everyone marks there calendars next year for the event and comes on out to see next year! Congrats to the Bog-Off winners and the Loris Chamber for a terrificc event!

Okay so I am trying to enjoy my morning coffee and read all the headlines in the Finance world and guess what oil is at it again! Why don't we just leave it alone! I am tired of all the scare tactics and influence of the media! They open their mouths and boom everyone believes that they are God and what they say goes! The latest is Opec and how tight oil supplies are. Okay the last justification was all the hurricanes, well people we have not had a major storm in two years but I bet its coming in the future so lets go ahead and keep prices up. Once it was talk of a war and that happened and we still have oil. Now the latest is blamed on Iraq- Turkey tensions, give me a break! We have enough oil to last us, we should start using our own oil and direct the cash flow to perfecting Fuel cells, solar, hydro, or magnetics! Opec has us by the you know what! Just look at their palaces or dubia which is more of a natural gas country, they are building a new york city and there own island.... Wake up! Below is a great read! From Rueters!

Singer/songwriter Trent Tomlinson is one of those rare performers whose music is as straight-ahead and unpretentious as he is. "My songs," he says simply, "are real-life situations with kick-ass guitar." "It's 'open a beer, sit in a lawn chair, let's have a party' country," he says of his music. "At the same time, the songs are saying, 'I have the ability to love you, to understand,' and at the end of the day all that matters is Mama and Daddy and going to heaven. That pretty much sums everything up."Trent honed his music to perfection in countless demo studios over the years. "I've had five publishing deals," he says. "I've practically lived in the studio, creating and honing a sound of my own. And it turns out that five of the songs on the album record are actually my demos -- Lyric Street loved them so much as is that we just went in and re-sang and tweaked a little, instead of re-recording."

In fact, Trent was involved in every aspect of song selection and production on his album which is unusual for a new artist. That level of involvement is testament to his ability to turn the long hard road to stardom to his advantage. Although, he had written songs for Emerson Drive and Blue County, among others, Trent's career had amounted to a frustrating series of publishing deals until he had a breakthrough about two years ago. He was writing at Cal IV Entertainment, a Music City publishing company, when, "I kind of found myself," Trent says. "I basically admitted the truth about who I am and what I am, my demons and insecurities -- the ones that I run from on a day-to-day basis -- and began putting them into my songs."

Trent began his musical journey in Kennett, Missouri, which is also the home town of Sheryl Crow. His 6'8" father is a former basketball star who set scoring records at the University of Missouri and was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers before knee surgery knocked him out. He was also the basketball coach and biology teacher at Trent's high school, and a tough taskmaster.

Trent is, after all this time, in the enviable position of having life and music come together successfully. He has written a song for the new Sara Evans album, and his debut album, Country Is My Rock, is ratifying the path he's taken.

"For me, the hardest part was letting it all out," he says, "but that's become my way for dealing with my darker side. Writing songs and singing help me to understand it and move on. Hopefully, the reception Country Is My Rock is getting means that other people are getting something out of it too.

Same Thing, Different Place, Same Homes, Different Time!!!

Okay people having lived in Ohio and South Carolina and I have been able to see some very unique homes, developments, and attractions. One thing that is starting to bug me is the fact that the new trend down here in Horry County is these cookie cutter developements!! All the developer is concerned with is slapping up homes, hoping the yankees come down and buy a home from them.

First of all I have seen first hand what happens when developers fail to plan or offer variety! The foreclosure rate in the midwest is horrible. Is it because the developer got greedy? Or is it because he paid too much for the dirt and didn't run his numbers? Or is it because people tried to keep pace with there friends? I dunno!!

What I do know is that in Ohio a lot of developers have the same house and floor plan three houses down from each other and its like they cut and paste on a cpu! I am starting to see this trend down here and you know what people it does not work!!

Why does it not work because in 5 years when you go to sell your home, how are you going to distanguish your home from your neighbors who has the same floor plan, same style, probably same colors, and probably paid near the same price?? I mean all you have to fall back on in location. Doesn't sound like a great investment to me. Now don't get me wrong we all need a roof under our heads and we need to be thankful, but at the same time we should be wise with our money and investment.

I wish some devlopers would look at the big picture instead of density and bottom line, bc the bottom line will and can come back to haunt you. Besides if you are going to go to all the trouble to spend money marketing something shouldn't be different and not the same, sometimes in Real Estate you have to take chances and not do what has always worked. What is everyone's take on this??

Okay Active Rainers we have witnessed the stock marktet hit new highs this year, plenty of ups and downs too! Google has just hit a new high and surpassed the $600 dollar mark! With GOOG offering every type of "free service" to the consumer what is going to be there new level in terms of price? Should they do a split, say 2 for 1 or 4 for 1 or just keep it as is and keep going? I love there services but at the same time are they starting to become to big? What is everyones take on this?

College Football!

Its been a crazy two weeks in College Football already with all the top teams falling like dominos! Is there truly a dominate team this year? I do believe that LSU has what it takes but they are very beatable! My Buckeyes (OSU) has a defense that just gets better and better each week! They might just move to number two this week in the polls, But we still have a long season left and Im not about to get excited yet! Heres a thought maybe with all these home sitting on the market maybe we should rent some big screens and stage open houses them and buy all the game day packages to get people into the homes! Anyhow I am enjoying this season and it should be a great finish as we are just to the halfway mark now! Go-Bucks!
