I can't tell you how many times are company has seen local and statewide advertistements on Craigslist, other notary websites, flyers and heard from dozens of texas mobile notaries charging way more than they can by Texas law to you the unassuming customer. Or notaries not asking for proper identification from people when they do there mobile notary...um that defeats the whole purpose of even getting a document notarized! :O

Below is the Texas notary gospel mandated by the Texas Secretary of State's office.

Per the Texas Secretary of State's Office and official Website a licensed Texas Notary can NOT certify copies of these documents below:

1. Birth certificates
2. Death certificates
3. Marriage certificates
4. Divorce decrees
5. Passports
6. Social security cards
7. Military identification cards
8. Visas, certificates of naturalization or other identification cards
or documents issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
9. Wills, deeds and other documents filed for public record with the
county Articles of incorporation, certificates of formation or
other business documents recorded with the Texas Secretary of State or
other state official
10. College or high school transcripts or diplomas

Acceptable Identifcation Forms

- A valid state driver's license
- A valid identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) or equivalent agency in another state
- A valid passport issued by the U.S. government

Unacceptable Identification Forms

- A credit card
- A debit card
- A library card
- A U..S social security card
- A private company's security badge
- A letter of introduction

Please note there is NO exceptions to these rules, so please don't ask our company or any of our notaries to sign any document listed.

The maximum fees that a licensed notary in the state of Texas may charge:

Acknowledgments or proof of any deed or other instrument in writing, for registration, including certificate and seal $6.00 for the first signature and $1.00 for each additional signature

Administering an oath or affirmation with certificate and seal $6.00

All certificates under seal not otherwise provided for $6.00

Copies of all records and papers in the notary public's office $0.50 for each page

Taking the deposition of witness $0.50 for each 100 words

Swearing a witness to a deposition, certificate, seal and other business connected with taking the deposition $6.00
Protesting a bill or note for non-acceptance or non-payment, register and seal $4.00
Each notice of protest $1.00
Protesting in all other cases $4.00
Certificate and seal to protest $4.00

All notarial acts not provided for $6.00

Please note the state of Texas allows mobile notaries to charge anything they want for traveling to and from notary jobs, print out charges and wait times that maybe incurred. Places like jails, courthouses or hospitals usually have some form of wait times for notaries.

Mobile Austin Notary announces a new company controller has been hired. We are proud to announce Judy Peterson as our new company controller who started last week. With the growth of our company even in this very bleak real estate and economic market. Mobile Austin Notary is to the point where a company controller is needed to stay organized, able to complete billing in a lightening fast manner and to continue to grow the company.

Judy's experience includes payroll, payroll taxes, quarterly reports, P & L, financial statements,
accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, monthly closing, and designing of specially requested company reports. She has over 25 Years experience with bookkeeping and accounting.

She is also ADP Onsite Accounting certified.

We call her the "Jedi Master Yoda" of bookkeeping for us.

Judy will also help Mobile Austin Notary streamline both it's accounting processes and database management functions.

Judy was born and raised in Arkansas. (Please no booing here from you Texas Longhorn Fans, she doesn't even like the Razorbacks thank God. Duh...we couldn't of hired here if she did!)

Twitter is already the 36th most visited website in the world and climbing fast, I expect it to hit top 20 website by the end of the year or higher. That's a pretty good reason to get yourself on there and benefit from the immense traffic on the site.

Next Twitter is estimated to have 100 million members possibly by the end of 2009. 100 Million, compare that to the small 150,729 ActiveRain members currently

Why NOT using PayPal is losing YOU ton of business everyday!

According to Wikipedia: PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. PayPal serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders.

I'm sure all of you have or at least know what PayPal is..God I truly hope so.

PayPal in a nutshell allows your customers to send you money from all over the world, by using there credit card or bank account on file with PayPal. The best part they NEVER have to share there bank or credit information with you, this is STILL the #1 fear of why people don't order anything online today.

This allows realtors, appraisers, inspectors, mortgage brokers, title agents, loan signing agents and notaries to accept payments without having to go get a merchant account which can be a real pain in the you know what sometimes.

Our CEO has the maximum limits given by PayPal, he has a Verified Premier account that allows him to send or receive $10,000 per day.

What that could mean is your home buyers that can't quite come up with the down payment for that house they love and qualify for. Well, if you accepted PayPal they could use up to $10,000 on there credit cards for the down payment.

Or for apartment realtors, your prospective tenant could put the deposit they can't quite swingor first months rent on there PayPal/Credit cards. In this economy creativity is the key, how are you going to separate yourself from the crowd in your industry?

Also if you haven't yet got one of these or didn't know they existed, you really need to.

PayPal now allows you to get a PayPal Debit Card, just like your bank gives you a check card to use with your bank acount. This way you can pull cash out of any ATM in the world or use your card just like you would a credit card/debit card at any store in the world that accepts Visa/Mastercard. Today for example we got paid by a mortgage company in Austin (the Same day ONLY because we used PayPal) and within a few hours we went a pulled the money out of a ATM for cash. Mere hours.

We highly suggest you get a free PayPal account set up and then apply to get a debit card. Usually takes about 7-10 days to get in the mail.

Pulte/Centex homes merger will make them TWICE as big as next home builder!

With the Pulte Homes and Centex Homes mega home builder merger announced, this would be the pecking order of home builders currently in the U.S. Note many serious rumors see KB Homes, D.R. Horton or Lennar Homes merging, almost for sure over the next 6-12 months.

Pulte Homes executives met with Mobile Austin Notary's CEO and staff to sign contracts today with Mobile Austin Notary, to be there exclusive loan signing agent company for all there home closings in Austin, TX.

Mobile Austin Notary will be in charge of handling all Pulte Home closing paper work at closings, scanning of documents, meeting with home owners face to face, shipping documents out to lenders, giving keys to the new homeowners and array of other closing process duties.

Pulte Homes, Inc (NYSE: PHM) is a Bloomfield Hills, MI based company founded by Bill Pulte. Pulte is the third largest (by units) builder of homes and residential community developers in the United States according to Builder Magazine's"Builder 100", and is the nation's largest builder of active adult communities for people 55 years of age and older. Announced April 8, 2009 Pulte Homes has agreed to acquire Centex - creating the nation's largest homebuilding company in a stock transaction worth $3.1 billion, including $1.8 billion of debt.

The combination of Pulte and Centex will offer exceptional homes in well-designed communities that meet the desires of a cross-section of homebuyers, ranging from first-time buyers to Baby Boomers. The companies said that, after the merger, Pulte shareholders will own 68% of the combined company, and Centex shareholders will own 32%. The two companies said they each have about $1.7 billion in cash, so that the newly combined company will have more than $3.4 billion in liquidity.

With the announced merger with Centex to be finalized late in 2009, Pulte will become the largest U.S. and worldwide homebuilder Pulte Mortgage LLC is the lending division of Pulte Homes.

Pulte's company motto is "Homeowner for Life." Signifying that their business goals are to provide first time homeowners with their first homes and work them up through their signature communities up to an estate size home and even to their retirement homes. Because of their hard working customer service managers, their customer devotion ranks high and records show that compared to other public homebuilders, their repeat buyer business is the highest.

Never happens people! Most other countries in the world get this concept and have for dozens of centuries, just not our country as seen from stats! 13 DAYS average time off in USA. OMG! Work 50 weeks and get two off. If that's not the total definition of insanity I don't know what is. :O

Americans work 137 more hours per year than Japanese (you heard like me rumors that Japan workers actually worked most hours in the world then anyone didn't you) workers, 260 more hours per year than British workers, and 499 more hours per year than French workers [22].

The U.S is the only nation in the industrialized world with no minimum paid-leave laws. European law provides each worker with 4-5 weeks per year of paid-leave. (We might be the wealthiest country in the world, but we sure aren't the smartest or have proper priorities in life that's for damn sure).

Mobile Austin Notary - Texas Process Server Appointed by TX Supreme Court

Mobile Austin Notary recently had two of our staff members in April appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to be licensed "bad ass" Texas Process Servers in all 254 counties in Texas.. Ok, bad ass wasn't the official title the Texas Supreme Court gave us. Just sounds way cooler. :D

This was a extremely long and hard process to go thru in Texas, with multiple background checks needed, fingerprinting checks, training, test taking and finally the Texas Supreme Court approval. There is currently only about 3,200 Texas Supreme Court appointed process servers in the entire state of Texas. To put that number into perspective there is 254 counties in Texas, Texas is the 2nd LARGEST land and population state in the U.S.

With those numbers on average there is only about 13 process servers PER county in Texas. Consider how many realtors, licensed notaries and mortgage brokers there are in comparision. Those numbers are in the hundreds of thousands in the state.

Plus, we were accepted into the TXSPA (Texas Process Servers Association) and there is only about 532 members (two of them being our company) in the entire state of Texas.

We will be having a third staff member go thru this process in June 2009, so we will have three Texas appointed process servers to serve all our clients locally. statewide and nationally in the future.

Business cards have changed dramatically since they first appeared in China in the 15th century. At that time, they were essential tools of etiquette that were only for aristocrats and royalty, but in today's competitive market, business cards are an essential tool for any business interaction. With the sheer amount of business cards that are distributed today, it is more important than ever before to set your company apart from the rest.

Think of your business card as a first and last impression. People can make assumptions about your business based on the information on and the quality of your business card. It also serves as a lingering reminder of you long after you have parted ways with a potential business associate. What do you want your business card to portray about your business? There are some simple rules to follow regarding what should and shouldn't be on your business card.

Business Card Do's

Brand Your Company.

Your business card is your first opportunity to brand your organization with a potential client, or peer who could offer you referral work. If prospective clients receive your business card from a friend or coworker, it is the only information they have about your company and thus it is your one opportunity to impress them. Put your logo on your business card, and use fonts and colors that are consistent with what is on your website and other printed materials. It is important that your branding is professional. Do not include clip art or cartoon images on your business card.

Include All Contact Information.

It sounds simple, but make sure your potential clients have all of your contact information. List a telephone number that will always be answered, a mailing address, a fax number, email address and website. If you have a toll-free number include that with a local phone number. You never know when an out-of-town client will choose to call a toll-free number over a local number.

Use Back of Card.

The backside of your business card is the perfect place to include information that makes your card worth holding on to. According to Chris Brunner, owner and developer of GreatFX Business Cards, business cards with printing on both sides are the most effective. If a card is extremely unique or rare (laser cut metal or chocolate for example) it may have a better chance of marketing success...but unique and rare comes with a price. In order to be effective on a budget, you should plan ahead for what content to include on the card. List information such as additional office locations, services offered and professional memberships. These details often are what makes a client take notice of your business over another. Don't let this space go to waste.

What Do You Do?

"One of the biggest mistakes I see on business cards is that it is not clear what a company does," said PInow.com Brand Manager Troy Piegols. "People may put emphasis into the color and design of the business card, but if you don't have a strong, relevant tagline it is ineffective. Someone who receives your card may not be clear on what you do if it does not mention your core business practice." Examples of strong relevant taglines are: XYZ Company - Successfully Serving Papers Since 1980; or Riviera Enterprises - Professional Private Investigation Services.

Business Card Don'ts

Don't Design Your Own Business Cards.

Unless you happen to be a trained graphic designer, do not design your own business cards. You work with professional clients, and should give off a professional image. Your business card is fundamentally a first impression and is a lasting reminder of you. Do not let your lasting impression look like the "Before" example in the image above.

Use a High-Quality Printer.

Do not use perforated business card templates that you printed on your office printer, or free business cards that place the printer's logo on the backside of the card. Your business card is first and foremost a reflection of your business. You should not be sharing that space and co-branding it with a printer. This can muddle your message, and confuse people who aren't familiar with your company. Customers' first impressions will be "free business cards" instead of impressing them with your professionalism. Business cards can be more reasonable than you think and a tax write off.

Keep Them With You

Once you create a top-notch business card - distribute it! Have you ever met a potential new client and realized you left your business cards at the office? Have you attended a conference and met someone who could have referred you business, but instead of your business card they have a name and number on a cocktail napkin? Make sure you always have a stack of business cards with you, and remember to treat your business card as an important branding opportunity. Keep in mind that your business card is one of the most basic, but most effective forms of marketing and branding your company.

Service of process is the procedure employed to give legal notice to a person (such as a defendant) of a court or administrative body's exercise of its jurisdiction over that person so as to enable that person to respond to the proceeding before the court, body or other tribunal. Usually, notice is furnished by delivering a set of court documents (called "process") to the person to be served.

Service

Each jurisdiction has rules regarding the means of service of process. Typically, a summons and related documents must be served upon the defendant personally, or in some cases upon another person of suitable age and discretion at the person's residence or place of business or employment. In some cases, service of process may be effected through the mail as in some small claims court procedures. In exceptional cases, other forms of service may be authorized by procedural rules or court order, including service by publication when an individual cannot be located in a particular jurisdiction.

Proper service of process initially establishes personal jurisdiction of the court over the person served. If the defendant ignores further pleadings or fails to participate in the proceedings, then the court or administrative body may find the defendant in default and award relief to the claimant, petitioner or plaintiff. Service of process must be distinguished from service of subsequent documents (such as pleadings and motion papers) between the parties to litigation.

In the past in many countries, people did not have the right to know that there were legal proceedings against them. In some cases, they would only find out when magistrates showed up with the sheriff and seized their property, sometimes throwing them into debtor's prison until their debts were paid. The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution prohibit the federal government and state governments from depriving any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law. Therefore the process server is "serving" the recipient with notice of their constitutional right to due process of the law.

In ancient times, the service of a summons was considered a royal act that had serious consequences. It was a summons to come to the King's Court and to respond to the demand of a loyal subject. In ancient Persia, failure to respond to the King's summons meant a sentence of death. Today the penalty for ignoring a summons may be entry of a default money judgment that can subsequently be enforced.

Service of process in cases filed in the United States district courts is governed by Rule 4 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. In England and Wales, the rules governing service of documents are contained within Part 6 of the Civil Procedure Rules 1998.

Service on a defendant who resides in a country outside the jurisdiction of the Court must comply with special procedures prescribed under the Hague Service Convention, if the recipient's country is a signatory. Service on defendants in many South American countries and some other countries is effected through the Letter Rogatory process. Where a defendant's whereabouts are unknown, the Court may permit service by publication, usually in a newspaper.
