Can Twitter Work For Your Real Estate Site?

On Twitter when one reaches 10,000 followers it's know as achieving whale status. The real benefit, is the increase this provides to your blog/site and or products/services you are tweetting about. Now, followers are great, but to be as productive as possible, these followers MUST be carefully selected.

If you are a real estate agent, you should work on building followers within say 10-25 miles of your office. If you sell a product or service on the Internet, you should select followers from related keywords within their profiles or their tweets.

Plus, keep in mind, you MUST provide useful information on your tweets and sites ... content is king on the Internet!

Lastly, only take advice from people who have have achieved what you are striving for yourself. I see people with Google PR0 or PR1 promoting the 'secret' of how to get high quality back-links or great search engine standings everyday. Seems their 'secrets' have not been working for their own sites.

Is Your Real Estate Blog/Website Generating On-Line Income for YOU?

This is a follow-up to my 8-26 post #1 EZ Way to Make Money with YOUR Blog or Site. I received a number of IM’s indicating that many thought just adding the Google Adsense script to their blog/websites was the key to making some decent additional revenue.

Before we go any further, if you have not read my post noted above, please do so. As SEO webmasters we host over 60 real estate sites in California. Many of these sites have added the Google Adsence scripts with hope of making a little gas money per month.

Here is the monthly Google Adsense income for five California real estate websites (not to embarrass anyone and to comply w/Google Adsense terms, full site URL’s and certain Adsense stats have been eliminated or masked):

If we elimate the site w/237 page views, you’ll note that the August average page views was just 13. The average click-throughs were only 1.25 and average monthly income was 87 cents! So, it should be quite evident that just adding Adsence to your real estate site will not come close to purchasing an additional gallon of gas, for the vast majority.

So, is it worth your time? Will you lose possible big money commission by having Adsense on your site?

To help answer these questions, look at my one day Adsense income on 9-9-09:

With just 47 clicks I made $77.98 in one day! That should answer the first question posed above. The answer to the second question, is no, if implemented correctly. By proper placement of the Adsense script and unitization of the blocking features available, you can keep other real estate ads from appearing on your site. If you are running a real estate site, what other possible ads can be displayed? The general categories could be related to mortgages, reverse mortgages, credit reports, moving companies, painters, remodels, bankruptcy, estate planning, tax prep etc…

It still takes a little work. If you are not ready to learn and put time into proper SEO, I would say don’t waste your time for 87cents per month! On the other hand, if you believe life is continual learning, and you want to take control of your real estate blog/website, not only will you be able to make some decent gas money each month, but your rankings and traffic will show marked improvement.

Google AdSense is an EZ way to earn some additional income from your blog/website. There is no cost to set up your Google AdSense account. In addition to extra income, if set up correctly, you can track the visitors to each page where you have the Google AdSense code setup.

As in life, and especially the Internet, take advice only from proven sources. Many website owners say AdSense is not worth the time for the small amount of income it generates. Jeremiah Owyang of Forrester Research estimated that Twitter had 4-5 million users.

A February 2009 Compete.com blog entry ranked Twitter as the third most used social network (Facebook being the largest, followed by MySpace), which puts the number of unique monthly visitors at roughly 6 million and the number of monthly visits at 55 million.

Search engine optimization is getting more and more difficult by the day. The search engines are evolving at an incredible speed, making it harder for us SEOs to rank our websites highly.

With that said, there are a few tried and true principles that we need to do when optimizing our website. The first of which, and the one that I always tell people to concentrate on is getting quality, 1 way links pointing to your website.

The more quality links you can get pointing to your website, the higher you will rank, period.

While there are many black hat tricks and tactics that you can do for short term gain, I would suggest NOT spending your time on those things. I would focus my entire effort on figuring out how to get other websites to link to yours without you linking back to them. That is the biggest key to ranking well in Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Doing this is easier said that done. One of the easiest known ways to get quality, one way links is by finding website directories and then submitting your website to them. This can be a very tedious process, but always a very rewarding process at the same time.

You can either submit your website to these directories manually, pay someone to do it for you, OR you can use one of the website directory submission programs out there. Good SEO Advice or Out-dated Wishful Thinking

One of the most common errors I see, is advice by web designers. They could be great designers, but know just enough about SEO to be dangerous.

Before you take any SEO advice or sign up for SEO services, check into the track record of the person or company who is telling you how great they are or what their software can do for you!

Look for prior results in the 'real' or 'organic' search results for very competitive keyword phrases. For real estate, one of the best keywords is your town followed by real estate. Ex. San Diego real estate

You see, as a blog builder I'm always looking for new and innovative ways to keep my blog up-to-date with fresh and relevant content. You see, one of the main secreats to top search engine rankings for your blog is new keyword related content.

So, whenever I find something that I think will help my blogs I always test it out. Well, I've been testing out a certain plug-in and it has been working fantastic for me. This plug-in will allow you to automatically update your blog on autopilot. It is a set and forget system.

I use a couple different automated plug-ins, but this one is pretty awesome. You see, it actually goes out and grabs relevant content and puts it on your blog. It actually uses Yahoo answers to do this. So, it works really well and allows you to get good content to your site that is very conversational. Not only does it add the Yahoo answers question, but also adds the answers as comments.

So, it looks like your blog is very interactive. This is a really cool plug-in. If you're looking for a great way to automatically add good quality content to your blog this is a great WordPress plug-in. Now, as I always mention with any type of automation tool, that is not all you want to do. You want to make sure that you add fresh unique content on your blog.

Anyway, I highly recommend this plug-in. I would check it out if you want to build blogs on autopilot.

Do you use a WordPress blog? I probably should have told you about this a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to try this out for myself, first - and I've been sooooooo busy.

Let's say I just gave you a plugin that allowed you to drip feed your articles into your blog... upload a zip file containing a bunch of text files, each representing an article... and you could specify you want those articles to get scheduled 1 week apart, 4 days apart, 72 hours apart, and so on. You could also tell WordPress what time of day you wanted to post the articles. Would that be worth $47 to you, to save hours and hours of work? Because that's what a couple of people are selling those plugins for. If you go to anyone else, it would probably cost you $47 just for that one plugin... but that's just a taste of what is here for you! -->
