Habitat for Humanity Newark NJ Dedication Set for December 5th

EXIT Realty Corp. International is proud to host the dedication of its 11^th corporately sponsored Habitat for Humanity build to date. A newly constructed home is being presented to Precious Kwia and her family in New Jersey on December 5th.

“This remarkable organization is a fundamental part of the EXIT Realty system”, says Founder and CEO, Steve Morris. “A portion of every closed real estate transaction generated by an EXIT Realty associate is donated to a fund and presented to Habitat for Humanity at our annual convention each year. A Recession is a Terrible Thing To Waste: 6 Lessons From a Real Estate Veteran

A commentary by Bob McKinnon, Senior Regional Consultant, EXIT Realty Corp. International

We in real estate experience a recession every seven years on average, twelve of them since 1929. Each downturn is different in nature due to compounding economic factors of the time, but the effect is the same for our industry. Recently, I heard Brian Buffini use this title phrase and it sent me reflecting on some truths of our business that may possibly help you now or in the future.

No pain no gain. Pain, if properly framed will always bring about gain. What a frustrating place to be to have lots of pain with no gain at all. Remembering real estate is always first in and first out of a recession, here are six lessons from my experience.

Expect the cycles and plan for them. Planning ahead is what good leaders and business people do. We have an echo boom coming which will bring a whole new opportunity to our industry. As surely as it is coming it will go or geo-political events will interrupt it. OK? Think, read and be ready.

Save and develop reserves in the good times. I believe we are entering a period of national frugality which is so smart. We REALTORS® love to drive, wear and live in our reserves which may prove very foolish in the future when we could be turning them into equity and investments instead.

Brail the marketplace and know where it is trending. Take a macro view of things by being active in REALTOR® groups, reading REALTOR® publications and attending local business or networking meetings. Reading and paying attention to the business news from reliable sources is a must. When you see and feel bad business practice, know it will not end well for anyone no matter what the temporary gain.

Realize the opportunity in any market. Remember life itself (marriage, divorce, births, deaths, transfers etc.) continues to drive the majority of the demand for REALTORS®. Always have faith that real estate will continue to change hands, so seek and find the opportunity to bring more value to your marketplace.

React quickly to changing trends. Those who read the market got in early and are still there with consistent flow of business while the Johnnys-come-lately pound on the door wanting into a room that is already full. Some never see the changing trends but sadder yet some see them and do nothing about it. So how do you boil a frog? Don’t tell him the water is getting hotter and he will do nothing about it!

Basics will always win. Sound vision and leadership - the discipline of daily execution of basic activities like recruiting, prospecting, practicing skills; innovative marketing and branding - these are the things that still win in the battle for market share. True innovation is rare, but it is there, and usually it is just a slightly different approach to some age-old business and personal practices.

We have been through a very tough time that has hurt so many. If you are ready to move on, even grow from this experience, realize there is always gain from pain. With great respect and regard for my fellows I say, seek the gain and win the day.

In August, we reported that she was a finalist for the prestigious REALTOR^® Magazine’s Good Neighbor Award and now we're pleased to announce that Helen Marotto, real estate sales representative with EXIT Homeplace Realty Associates has been named the winner for her work as "a court-appointed advocate responsible for abused, neglected, and dependent children in the foster-care system."

According to the realtor.org website, "One of the ways Marotto stands out is for the extensive research she does to find better lives for the children she represents. Recently, North Carolina established the "Family Find" pilot program, which uses methods inspired by Marotto and other guardians to standardize locating children’s family."

There is definite change occurring in Real Estate brokerage including mergers, acquisitions, sellouts, roll-ins, conversions and plenty of closings of Real Estate offices. My job is to have my thumb on the pulse of these changes; any hint of someone making a move initiates a call from me to see if they have what it takes to be part of EXIT Realty. You see, I sell franchises, but I am not a franchise salesperson. I treat my career as a relationship building experience; selecting those franchise prospects that will take a leap of faith and invest in EXIT, so I can invest in supporting them in our system. And, I always ask myself this question, "Why would someone join EXIT Realty"? The answer is simple to me and after reading this, it will be simple to you. We have lasted through this turbulent time in our industry because of the strong foundation our CEO and Founder, Steve Morris, built back in 1996 when EXIT Realty was formed. I am convinced we will become the most productively successful Real Estate Company on Earth.

I am going to share ten (10) differences between EXIT Realty and the other choices. Top Honor Attributed to Good Systems for This PA EXIT Realty Broker

On the afternoon of Friday, October 2^nd, 2009 in Washington, DC the crowd fell under a unanimous hush as Founder & CEO of EXIT Realty Corp. International, Steve Morris began his announcement of this year’s Tri-Real-A-Thon recipient at the 11^th annual international convention.

“The Tri-Real-A-Thon Award”, Morris explained, “outlines the three most important avenues of real estate in our company; listings, sales and sponsoring. We’ve outlined specific parameters where our real estate associates are put to the test and only one can come out on top.”

In order to qualify for this prestigious designation, EXIT Realty associates must achieve a minimum of 24 sales ends, 35 listings and 4 people sponsored, all within the award period of July 1^st to June 30^th of the current year. Despite the challenges faced by the real estate industry over the past couple of years, Robert Hoobler, Franchisee of EXIT Realty Platinum in Mechanicsburg, PA smashed these minimum qualifiers to take EXIT Realty’s top award.

A Winning Trifecta for EXIT Realty Mid-South (TN/KY) at EXIT’s International Convention in Washington, DC

The Regional Owners of Tennessee and Kentucky could do no wrong at this year’s EXIT Realty International Convention, hosted by the newly built Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. The picturesque setting overlooking the Potomac River provided the perfect backdrop for this momentous event.

Regional Owners Jean Marie and Mike Grumbles, Jean and George Styron and Barbara and Richard Rutan walked away with three huge wins! The first and most prestigious was the Region of the Year Award. This designation is awarded to the EXIT Region who has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they deserve to be acknowledged for their work ethic, business savvy, successes and the relationships they hold with their Franchisees and Sales Associates.

Jean Marie Grumbles, CEO of EXIT MidSouth, said of the award, “Region of the Year is truly a testament to the caliber of our Agents, Brokers, and Owners. It is not really about us but about them. 8 Habits to Boost Your Real Estate Business and Drive Production

What is it that top real estate producers do that drive their impressive production? They are creatures of habit, and it's the things they do that make them special. Things you can do too. Start by adding one or two of these habits to your daily business routine over the next 90 days.

Habit #1: Goal-Setting and Planning

Have written, specific and time-bound goals, for the short and long-term as well as the present. Goals should be challenging enough to motivate but still achievable. Reference, modify and adjust them often, and have a plan to attain them.

Habit #2: Make Things Happen

Don't just be satisfied with being busy, be focused on results; make your own success. Stay proactive, not reactive, and aware of your numbers for reaching your goals. Use weekly work plans and activity reports to enhance personal accountability, effectiveness and efficiency.

Habit #3: Prioritize

Become an excellent time manager. Prioritize everything, devoting at least three hours every morning for proactive prospecting. Find and maintain a balance between your production and production capability, and seek predictable results, without becoming emotionally attached to outcomes.

Habit #4: Think Win-Win

Have an abundance mentality, and apply this win-win attitude to your clients, your broker, your sponsors and your fellow associates both within the office and those cooperating on deals.

Habit #5: Listen, Realty Listen

Listen empathically, understanding that by listening, and reading a person's body language often provides greater results than doing all the talking. Ask effective questions and know how to move conversationally to the answer. Never prescribe before fully diagnosing.

Habit #6: Synergize

You must evolve from dependence, through independence to interdependence. Understand that that teamwork as well as partitioning labor or delegating is important. Participate in company and community activities, offer assistance and share what you know.

Habit #7: Constantly Re-Invent

Invest regularly in your own self-improvement. Participate regularly in sponsored events like EXIT training events, sales rallies and the Annual Convention. Become an education junky and be quick to apply what you learn. Pursue real estate designations, familiarize yourself with EXIT's Resource Center, and employ the help of a coach.

Habit #8: Sponsor Regularly

Be proactive about sponsoring. It should be an integral part of your business plan. Always be attentive to sponsoring opportunities and continually re-invent your sponsoring goals, tactics, dialogue and techniques.
