Mentoring for new agents

I am looking for dialogue about your thoughts on Mentoring . Here are a few examples to start it out.

A. How much should a mentor be compensated?

B. How long should mentorship with a new agent last?

C. Should a meeting with mentee it be scheduled the first part and last part of the day?

D. Whats the accountability to broker and mentor?

E. Whats your feedback ?

I am open to all information that applies to mentoring, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Proud to be a Texan

Moving from Maine to Texas

Learning how to be a Texan, heck I thought all you had to do was buy a cowboy hat and a pair of boots and learn to say howdy or y'all. I keep getting teased about my dialec like saying caw instead of car, or pawk instead of park and the next one which got me in trouble was pawty instead of party.

I was watching TV recently its called "Texas Country Reporter" and they showed a Adult educational class in Kerrville named How to act like a Texan. Not only is the cowboy attire required but learning to say Y'ALL and as your driving lifting your index finger indicating hi.

One of the things I have learned since I have moved here is Texans are very proud and very very patriotic. Texas has its own pledge to the flag, I was and am so impressed with the Texan culture.

My question to you Y'ALL tell me what makes you so proud to be a Texan and your story...

Rons Neighborhood "Los Cedros Loop, Kerrville, Texas"

Thought I'd tell you a story about my neighborhood, there are about 50 homes and most are Garden homes. I think the avertage age is around 65 or better. There aren't very many children except when my grandchildren stop by. Everyone comments about how good my grandchildren are and I have to agree with them.

Over the past year homes have sold anywhere from $165,000 to $235,000, there have been 5 homes built since I've moved here in November 2004. Now there is no more building spots and we are all happy that no more construction crews are hammering away.

Last week one of my neighbors called and said we will be gone for a couple of weeks and asked if I would watch their home. In our neighborhood we have our own security system. My wife usually bakes a loaf of bread and a freshly homemade jar of preserves/jelly when someone new moves in. Typically homes sell here because of a job transfer or someone got sick or died heaven forbide

My neighbor stopped by a little while ago and gave me a strawberry pie. Its an awesome neighborhood. Here are a couple of homes for sale listed by another company.

More neighborhood pictures to follow

Its been kind of stressful for me and my wife our home has been in dissarray since the 2nd week of March of this year due to a huge rain storm and water came in my house mainly due to the grade and level of soil . Anyway its been ongoing wife says sell live in a travel trailer. Its been way stressful for her.

2:00pm So I'm thinking about it 24/7 , in the mean time we are getting ready for our daughter and grandchildren from El Paso, Texas we just found out they are on their way and are in Balymeara, Texas they are letting our grandchildren swim they love the water, my grandson Kyle has hi birthday on July 4th and he likes to come to the "Lake" its actually the Guadalupe River where we will picnic and listen to the music and then enjoy the fireworks. The real estate has taken a back burner until I can get the situation on the soil next to my house.

7:00pm Well my daughter hasn't arrived yet but should be here soon with, watching TV and seeing that there might be a flash flood, thats all I need, still working on fixing my neighbors yard.

8:30pm well they finally arrived safe and sound. Kids hungry and probably tired but sure don't act like it. Well everyone is eating something I'm chillin and getting ready for a Rotary meeting, I just got installed as president this year and looking to have a good year.

July 3 It was a busy day still havent got my grade done on the side of the house. I did call a Realtor friend in our office who used to landscape and he is coming over on July 5th hopefully he can help me get this taken care of

July 4th WOW what a day, loaded everything up grandchildren, grill, keg of beer, tons of food ,canopy ,chairs and my 2 dachsunds , it rained almost the entire time we were there talk about stressful 5 boys swimming in river, and one turned 7 today he had a great time. We finally got home around 6:30 tonight . The band which was going to play and the fireworks got cancelled in a way it was a relief. I can relax a little. Wife is beat but guess what grandchildren are outside playing croquet..wow did I ever get tired when I was younger?

July 5th Well another day goes by, had a guy come over and he said he can get the drainage issue done , hopefully next week. wife is all in an uproar because I told her there isn't guarantees espiecally if we got 20 inches in 4 hrs . She is very frustrated and wants to get the house together. Well grandkids are still here and they are leaving for El Paso in the morning. They went fishing today caught a small perch and they fried it up.

July 6th I started working on my journal and had to process an offer, pick up a lock box, sign off from an expired listing, well I don't get many expires but this happened to be a 3 month listing. So I printed out some TREPAC letters to (for those who don't know its Real estate Political Action Comittee) it takes money to convince politicians about items which is beneficial to the consumer and our industry)

4:00pm I just got home and wife had me barbecue some beef for our kids and grandkids, they are heading back to El Paso tomorrow, shes over the stove making her traditional German schneitzel, and sweating like crazy.

July 7th 12:30pm Well there is peace and quiet, dogs not barking all the time which by the way is not the kids fault , I have some strange dachsunds but wife is sad that they left, she gets stressed and wants to cook but doesn't want to cook. They will be coming back on August 7th because our oldest grand daughter has to be back at the University before freshmen orientation. The last time our graddaughter drove from El Paso by herself she got in an accident. We had to drive to Ft. Stockton she was not in the mood to drive , oh by the way she is a cutee.

July 8th Well another Sunday has gone by, quiet and peaceful but sad and oh dogs are not barking either. me and the wife went to a shopping center called "World market" it was pretty cool ended up buying a coffee maker cost almost hundred bucks. Oh well only live once. Well fireworks are scheduled for this evening, not sure if I want to go (cozy). Kids may go, they will give us a call later. Oh! I got a call from another agent and she said that someone stopped by to put an offer on some land and she also asked me to write the offer. I'm not sure what the deal is it we shall see tomorrow.

July 10th I missed a day, had the grandchildren and parents over, it was pizza night and watched a movie it was pretty cool, Today had an office meeting and presented everyone in the office with the "Ten Commandments for a buyer" got a lot of laughs and comments, I got it from one of the blogs on Active Rain , sorry I didn't bookmark it and owe credit to whomever posted that. I also asked everyone if they would be willing to do a community project and we would call it "Company with a heart" our companies name ic Coldwell Banker Heart of the Hills. I got a lot of positive feed back so we shall see what happens.

July 15th I am getting lazy in writing in my journal The last couple of days has been busy with real estate classes and such. This week is going to be busy but I like it that way, still haven't fixed the side of my house, I'm waiting for a realtor friend on mine whi is an ex landscaper and he is going to do it, He was by far the most pleasant and had a good answer for all my questions. I can't wait to get it done, wife will appreciate that thas for sure.

I am wondering if the Coldwell Banker representitives ever thought about having regional meetings with different offices and different speakers and enjoy a couple of days of learning, net working and just plain o fun. It appears that the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage companies are sharing in thought, marketing, networking and just plain fun.

Your thoughts and concerns about that would be appreciated.
