Sante Fe Depot in San Bernardino~Take A Tour Today!!

The historic Santa Fe Depot in San Bernardino will be open to the public for a guided tour on Friday, December 18th at 2:30 p.m. The tour will cover both the first and second floors and will last approximately 30 minutes. Comfortable walking shoes are advised. Tours are limited to 20 people and reservations are required. To register, call (909) 884-8276.

Volunteers needed for bald eagle count in San Bernardino National Forest

Event Details:	Volunteers are needed to help the U.S. Forest Service to count bald eagles this winter in the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains. Eagle counts are scheduled for Saturday morning, December 19th from 9-10 a.m., January 9th from 9-10 a.m., February 13th from 9-10 a.m., and March 13th from 9-10 a.m. Concurrent bald eagle counts will be held at Big Bear Lake, Baldwin Lake, Little Green Valley Lake, Lake Gregory, Lake Arrowhead, Lake Silverwood and Lake Hemet. Abalone Dots ~ Give Em A Listen !!

They recently took the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards ceremony by storm with a decidedly new twist on the Monroe Legacy. Abalone Dots consists of four girls from a Swedish town called Västervik. They write their own songs and have also cooperated with other song writers, Marit Bergman among others. The music is similar to bluegrass or softgrass. The all-female quartet from Sweden will bring its fusion of pop, bluegrass, rock, alternative country-Western sounds to south Orange County for two shows this weekend. The Abalone Dots will perform in Dana Point on Friday and in Mission Viejo on Saturday. Those who miss the group at these relatively small concert venues will have one more chance to see them, amid 30,000 or so fans Sunday at the Joshua Tree Music Festival. The Abalone Dots have released several albums, including 2007's "From a Safe Distance" and 2008's "Traveler." Since forming earlier this decade, the group has received rave reviews for musicianship as well as soaring vocal harmonies. The Dots recently performed at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tenn., and received a standing ovation at one of Americana music's most distinguished forums. Among the highlights on the Abalone Dots' most recent disc ("Traveler") are the country-styled "Craighead County Sky" and "A Simple Song," as well as the emotional ballad "Lost" and the bluegrass-tinged "Break the Silence." The Abalone Dots feature Rebecka Hjukström, 22 (guitar, banjo, dobro, vocals), Sophia Hogman, 24 (mandolin, cello, keyharp, vocals), Louise Holmer, 25 (bass, piano, vocals), and Elin Mörk, 24 (fiddle, vocals).

Comfortable Norwegian cows are producing more milk and have less udder infections since new regulations allowing them to relax for up to half a day on soft rubberized mattresses were introduced.

In 2004, Norway introduced rules to replace gradually all sheds where cows are kept in stalls with ones that allow them to move more freely and lie down on a softer surface.

"They lie about half of the day, which is natural for them," doctoral student Lars Erik Ruud told Reuters after researching the impact of the rules, the first of their kind in the world.

"Production increases by 5-6 percent," Ruud said, explaining that a more relaxed lifestyle boosted the volume of blood flowing through the cows' udders, which meant more liters of milk produced from each cow.

But the rules also have a drawback, he said, as the relaxed cows' hooves do not naturally wear down as they would if in contact with a hard surface.

Interview With Nashville Songwriter Steve Williams
Cowriter Of 'Redneck Yacht Club' Yields First #1 Song

Steve Williams is a songwriter / artist who hails from St Louis, Mo., He landed in Nashville 11 years ago. Steve met Thom Shephard, his cowriter of the current #1 hit, "Redneck Yacht Club" for Broken Bow Records artist Craig Williams, though a mutual friend.

When Thom and Steve hooked up for the first time for a cowriting session, they wrote a song called "Life Ain't Fair," which was cut by Warner Brothers Nashville recording artist Blake Shelton.

Steve has also had songs recorded by Nashville-based major label recording artists Buddy Jewell, Trick Pony, Steve Holy, Cowboy Crush, and others. He has written for Malaco Publishing and EMI.
