This southern gal is no stranger to hurricanes. Your best defense is early prediction so you can get supplies, fuel and plywood before they are gone OR evacuate! Protect your home as best you can and don't forget to turn the power and water off. After the damage is done, good luck getting a contractor, because they will be extremely busy! Here's a Contractor that does Baton Rouge Roofing. Our Baton Rouge Contractors helped us out on all our home improvement and roofing needs on our Louisiana home repairs. Nothing was left untouched so here's the stucco contractor in Baton Rouge that we used to repair the damage to the stucco siding. This stucco company works with many local Baton Rouge Builders. Some homes were totally destroyed and people were left in search of new homes in the Baton Rouge area. This is Baton Rouge body shops best offering with an excellent reputation as a collision center for paint and auto body repair in case you had car damage from the storm. Here in Arizona we get tests of the emergency broadcast system and it still makes me want to run for cover when I hear it. If you're caught in the storm and lose power, none of these things will help you so make sure you have batteries and a radio and find a local am radio station for updates and road closures.

Don't depend on just a cell phone because towers go down or get overloaded so your calls won't go through. If this happens, try text messaging, the message will go through at the next available signal or open line.

Florida (brilliantly) has already called a state of emergency so if the storm is really bad, emergency crews will be lined up, waiting.

My Pop hasn't been called yet but he and his crew historically are ones ready to leap into action with heavy equipment to initially clear the roads of debris so emergency vehicles can access the area immediately after hurricanes.

I love you dad and I'm watching too in case you need me. Tell David to keep those foxtrotters safe in Mississippi. Missouri was a long ways away to go get a horse. Thankfully the barn was the only thing that got damaged during the last storm.

Embedded Google Interactive maps in the Active Rain blogs are buggy little suckers! Here's what I did to get them to work.

According to my website stats about 85% of the people who click my website use Explorer 7 or earlier. When it comes to technology, the sky's the limit. But, if buyers don't have the same upgrades as you do, they can't see the hard work you've done to feature the property and will not get to view the listing at all.

If you are using a Mac or using Firefox as your browser, you probably don't have problems embedding maps but may want to find a machine that has Explorer 7 , scan your blogs and make sure your features are showing.

Embedding Interactive Google Maps is very similar to embedding video like YouTube. The brilliant, wonderful and beautiful Mr. Jeff Turner offers a video on How To copy and paste embedded code into your blog(I think he uses Mac). Here's a Google video explaining how to create a custom interactive map.

The problem I was having is, the maps were not showing at all or I could get them to show and then they would disappear. Ways I went around this, first I downloaded the free Mozilla Firefox browser and used that browser when I embedded my map with no problem and I went back to Explorer to make sure the maps still worked, it made a huge difference but still would disappear, sometimes.

The most effective way around the problem was to delete my widgets and such from my Active Rain profile. No more Flickr badge, groovey slideshows or Feedjit. I removed them one at a time but they all caused a problem and all ended up going. There's no need to do anything with other browsers, Explorer 7 works fine if you delete the extras in your profile. I really took one for the team here because I do love my toys but featuring my clients is more important.

Before I did this, I tried Google's help center with changing the codes and security, script settings, plug-ins on and off a thousand times and only got my map to work for a little while and then it was gone again.

Without the widgets I can embed Google interactive maps with no problem and they only disappear once in a while now. The default maps work better that the custom sized maps I embedded.

Explorer 8 is suppose to resolve the conflicts and the beta version is already available. Upgrade to the beta version if you can but when I tried to upgrade from 7, it just kept crashing. Read the requirements carefully.

The alternative to not deleting your toys is wait for Explorer 8 to be released. I want to get a jump now because Explorer 8 is incorporating Google Maps in a huge way.

If there are any easier suggestions from tech people on how to get these maps to work in the AR blogs using Explorer 7 or earlier feel free to post or link in the comments section.

Could Free YouTube Real Estate Video Postings Be Expensive?

I've seen some the real estate videos posted to YouTube and other sites. First of all I'll give a pat on the back to the agents who actually post video footage and don't try to pawn a generic slideshow or virtual tour off as a video. There are three separate forms of media that realtor.com makes available to you for posting with a listing, Video, Virtual Tours, and Still Photos. One's not replacing the other because they are all different and if you cross them, you might disappoint that potential buyer expecting to see a video. A video link deserves video footage.

Now help me out with YouTube. Are agents actually having success from this site or do they just like it because it's free? Why in the world you send a customer off to a website that doesn't have anything to do with selling homes? YouTube is a pro getting people enrolled in viewing other videos, that's the purpose of their site. My marketing instincts say find a way to get the video on your site so it's not BYE BYE BUYER.
