How many times have you heard the the phrase, "I hate Realtors?"  Then they unleash the diatribe on how they have been deceived by all of the Realtors of the world.

Well as an owner, I constantly councel our agents on time management and believe it or not one of the biggest obstacles is their community involvement.  Almost to a fault.  At least in our area, Realtors are the leaders in Habitat for Humanity.  Our office is 100% Miracle Office, meaning ALL agents donate proceeds from each of their closings to help children in the community.

Little League Softball, in our town, approached us because nobody would sponsor the girl's league.  Having two daughters, I thought this would be a great opportunity to help.  Our agents took turns attending the games, we bought all of the t-shirts for the teams and even bought and served ALL of the hot dogs, hamburgers and sodas for opening night!

Now I don't know if you are aware but Florida real estate is leading most of the country in depreciation.  So this was a big commitment for us.

Well, two of the teams refused to wear the game jerseys because the coaches were agents for other offices (the jersey read, "RE/MAX Rookies").  Nobody said thank you after opening night and the organization was furious that we wouldn't sponsor the end of the year party and we never heard from them again.  Other parents complained that because our balloon was at the games, it was too commercial.

I know that we are supposed to do things to help the community without the thought of being thanked.

However, being a little grateful wouldn't hurt.  The next time someone says how they hate Realtors, remind them of how often we give of our time and money throughout the community.

Welcome to the the place to get answers!  Just opened that office and you can't remember all of that info from the high altitudes at Denver?  Wanna ask that "dumb" question you were to afraid to ask?  Have you opened your office and have some great insight for the group?  Here is your opportunity!  Just post your questions and we will get answers.  Remember, a lot of info is proprietary so it may need to be answered offline.

 Let get the party started!
