More Problems with "Official Checks" - 03/29/07 04:15 PM
My daughter-in-law just started working at a large bank with branches all over the Southeast.  We were talking one day and the subject of "Cashiers Checks" came up.  She kept telling me that "Cashiers Checks" and "Official Checks" are the same thing.  She had just completed her training, which included how to prepare bank checks.  Her supervisor had trained her that there was no difference in Cashiers and Official checks.
So round and round we go!  i tell my clients to be sure they bring a Cashier's Check to closing......but many times they walk into the closing with an "Official Check".  … (4 comments)

Luxury Properties in Nashville Real Estate - 03/25/07 03:31 PM
Right now, there are 158 homes listed for $1,000,000 or more in the Nashville Real Estate area.  The most expensive one is a Lodge Estate on 8.03 acres.  A 2-story, 11,054 sq. ft. home featuring a limestone waterfall in the entrance foyer, a Guest House, Library, Putting Green, Pool w/Rainfall, Hot Tub and Outdoor Fireplace.  The Master Bedroom is 22x24.  It's awesome!  Priced at $6,900,000.  I'm an Exclusive Buyer's Agent, so I don't have this listed, but I sure could help you buy this or any of the other homes in the Nashville area.  http://www.NashvilleRealEstateAuthority.com !  Anyone interested?

Risky Loans - 03/24/07 06:34 PM
I was just watching a TV commercial that was advertising a 125% home mortgage loan.  This is crazy!  If someone is in bad enough financial condition to need a loan for 25% more than their home is worth....then this type of loan would really put them over the top.
In my opinion, this loan would put most people on the fast track to bankruptcy.  It's to sell a home when you have to bring money to closing, because most people need to receive money at closing to move on to their next home.
Think about it!  If, for example, someone had a home … (0 comments)

Why I Love Nashville - 03/24/07 04:21 PM
We came to Nashville for a vacation quite a few years ago....and fell in love with the area.  There are so many things to love that it's hard to put them in order.  First, the scenery is beautiful.  It's not the mountains, but it's hilly enough for gorgeous scenic views.  We live near Old Hickory Lake, which gives us lovely lake views.
The climate is great.  We do have four seasons, but winter is usually short and mild.  The short winter is just enough to help us appreciate the spring season.  We're far enough south that we don't have the sometimes severe … (0 comments)

The Dam Problems - 03/23/07 04:11 PM
The community meetings have started!  Are we going to be flooded?  Is the dam going to break?  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have finally released the flood maps showing possible flooding by a break in the Wolf Creek Dam in Kentucky.
It has been classified as "high risk" for failure.  They have found signs of seepage within the earthen embankments and foundation.  Sinkholes have appeared and apparently there is a dissolution of the limestone.
The water level has been lowered to reduce the pressure.  Last month, construction began to repair the dam, but it won't be completed until 2014.  In the event of … (2 comments)
