SO IF WE ALL TAKE A VACATION - WOULD BUSINESS PICK UP? - 08/16/08 07:18 PM
I have come to the conclusion from all the input I have received from my previous blog that there is a distinct possibility that taking a vacation would bring in more business.
Walking out the door, makes business come in!!!
Has that happened to?  It has happened to me, and others!  Could that strategy really work?

When Is a Good Time for A Real Estate Professional to Go On Vacation? - 08/16/08 12:02 PM

Summer is almost over, and I am dreaming of a vacation.
I have been dreaming of Prince Edward Island.  (I am a big fan of Anne of Green Gables. --- A kindred spirit, ya know)
I think it is important to take holidays, and re-energize.
How do you re-charge?  When do you think is the best time to take a vacation?

It's a Bear Market, Yet There Is Still Alot of Bull -- Paying More Doesn't Mean Better Service - 08/10/08 09:24 PM

Using a broker who discounts what is perceived as a "standard" commission does not necessarily mean less service.
Many Million dollar properties are paying only 4% commission, and they receive Luxury Home Service.
Consumers...
Do you think services are better just because "you are being charged more"? What do you think of Real Estate Professionals who complain about Discount Brokers? Do they have a beef?           Absolutely not,
 that's just a bunch of---

CONSUMER REPORTS stated in August '08:
"...We found that paying an agent a lower commission rarely had any effect on the sales price. And readers who paid commissions of 3 percent or … (0 comments)

Mabel is pointing to the sign.  Today we hiked near Ash Creek.

Along the shoreline, the receding waters exposed mucky black mud, and thousands of little snails were out in the open.

Snagged in the grass glowed a faux fish.  I removed the rusty hooked bait, so it would not lure anyone or anything to get injured.

We hit the trail avoiding mucky mud, slippery snails, and rusty fish hooks.

Over-Priced Properties: Are They Really For Sale? A Visual For The Price Impaired Home Seller - 08/08/08 05:12 PM
This is a visual (perspective) to help Sellers understand the consequences of over-pricing  their properties.

If there is no traffic coming to your door to view your property...Your Property is probably over-priced.
Buyers (and their agents) will gladly detour to the next property if your home is not priced right.

If Your Property has not even had a nibble in over 60 days...Your Property is probably over-priced.
(Sellers, turn the boat around! You lost your hook.)

If You Are a Seller Who Thinks Home Buying should be like a Pinata Game...Your property is probably over-priced.
Sorry Sellers, not too many agents or … (0 comments)

Getting Out of the Car to Look For Neverland - 08/03/08 11:37 AM

Davis Hill and Valley Forge, Weston, Connecticut
I drive by this site practically every day.  A quick turn of the head is all I can manage while driving.
Last night, as the sun was setting, a mysterious haze lingered on the water, begging me to look closer.  Listening to my neglected inner-child I turned the car around.  (The photograph does not do the magic of the moment justice.)
The road is narrow, and there really isn't a place to park.  My time was short for staring at this tiny little ripple in time.
The view was so inviting, and reminisent of my childhood days when I  rolled up my jeans, and … (5 comments)

356 Lakeside Drive, Bridgeport, CT - SOLD First Day On the Market - 08/02/08 09:29 AM
Lake Forest is a wonderful community inside the boundaries of Bridgeport, Connecticut, near Trumbull.
After weeks of searching and viewing properties in Fairfield and Bridgeport, 356 Lakeside Drive, a spacious Cape presented itself for the first time ever for sale since it was custom built in the 50's.  It was the perfect family home, and at an exceptional price.
Our first time homebuyers, a professional family with a beautiful year old daughter, loved the property and area.
The home is located within walking distance of the serene lake that offers year round enjoyment.  The neighborhood was well-maintained, and family oriented.
The buyers signed … (0 comments)

Why I don't Buy Referrals, Virtual Areas or Zip Codes - 08/01/08 07:26 PM
(This story was originally posted a while back, but does have significance at this moment.)

No doubt in my (un) usual way I will say something to aggravate someone.
    Sorry!  But, I can't apologize.
I have rarely bought referrals.  That's a pretty honest statement.  I have participated in a few things that have given me leads, but I  never had to pay a dime (or more) until closing. I have no regrets.  But I have no intentions of paying up front for leads.
Yes, the market is a little on the "less than fast" side, which means that not only real … (11 comments)

A Couple of My Favorite Real Estate Memories? - 08/01/08 09:10 AM
What are your three favorite real estate memories?

I find myself taking a minute to reflect on real estate past. I suppose that is what keeps me going.... All those good memories. I am even grateful for the challenges that add spice to my chosen profession. A bad experience can still be a great learning experience.
One of the best and many memories is the people I have met along the way.   I have a special fondness for my first office. My associates were my mentors. Each one was diverse, with different personalities and backgrounds.  I have to admit each one of them added … (0 comments)
