21 steps, 5 things, the 7 ways, ah nuts - my brain don't work like that... - 10/11/07 08:01 PM

This isn't a REAL serious post.  It just seems lately the blogs are full of, well - steps to success.
My brain doesn't work that way.  I'm sure I'd be more successful if it did.  I'm sure I could write more effectively if I laid out my steps.  I could even write a book about "The Fox" method.
I'm not totally innocent either.  I start 3 posts.  "The 3 steps to getting your site on Page 1".  It was kind of a joke.   You know the Real estate saying, location, location, location?  I said Hard work, Hard work, and Hard work.  But I … (7 comments)

Simple listing generator - 10/11/07 07:35 PM
I have 2 new agents.  Husband and wife time, they spend Fridays going to garage sales and talking to people.  They always wear name tags, and often talk to people about Real Estate while out (always carrie cards!).
Last week, the husband noticed a FSBO sign, Garage sell was taped on it.  The T-bar it was on, all bent up and crummy looking.  He told the homeowner he had extra T-bars at home, got one and fixed up their sign.  Next day, a lady from accross the street called.  Wanted a listing appointment.  Told my Agents they got card from Garage sell … (4 comments)

3 EASY steps to Page One of the Search engines - Part 2! - 10/07/07 12:03 PM
So you have your site set up, and all the Phrases in all the right places.  Now what?  Let's link exchange
NOT - the search engines believed (once apon a time) that pages linked to your site proved validity of the content of your site.  This is very true.  (the big) HOWEVER, this got abused.  I'll link to you, if you link to me.  Very good concept, and works well, IF it is a true link.  Lots of Realtors have link pages.  Referring people to your site.  They want you to link back.  Sounds good, but not as effective as it once … (6 comments)

How many minutes before you answer email? - 10/07/07 11:01 AM
I admit it.  I one of those obsessed techno geeks you hate.  I can't get my hands on enough toys.  I need the next toy to hook up and love finding ways to do  things.
So why am I bringing up a 3 or 4 year old phone?  I guess I'm slow.   Here's the deal, 2 years ago, you could answer your email in an hour or two.  You could let an auto responder start your drip email, and the consumer would be happy.  Not so any more.  Consumers count the minutes until you respond.  I'm 51, I can't text worth beans.  … (9 comments)

Realtors who Cut commissions, Freeze out buyers agent - 10/07/07 10:06 AM
I read lots of posts here about "I should've had a buyer agency", or "I got cut out of a commission".  BIG misconceptions here.  I won't address Buyer Agency duties here.  Very few people have a problem with the duties, it's the paycheck that seems to be so confusing.
According to "About.com" , "Definition: The legal definition of procuring cause would be "the cause that results in the attainment of a stated goal". In real estate it would take on the meaning of the real estate agent or broker who, by their actions in producing a buyer, brought about the sale of … (23 comments)

The company Picnic Scares me - What's wrong with me? - 10/06/07 10:05 AM
I own a small, but growing Real Estate firm.  The employees arranged a company picnic.  They wanted to get together for fun.  I'm really quite fine with it.  The picnic is today, and I'm frightened.  Don't know why, I like everybody.  They feel great loyalty towards me, and I to them.  I love seeing all of them.  So what's my problem?
I've been very busy figuring out a company move.  We started the search 4 months ago, and signed the lease 2 weeks ago.  Have to be moved in at the end of the month.  I feel swamped.  But that wouldn't really … (5 comments)
