Looks like congress is on the way to extending the current $8k tax credit for first time home buyers until April 2010 and expanding it to existing home owners for a reduced credit of $6500 for folks who have been in their homes at least 5 years. Let's hope it makes it through the House!
This has to be one of the longest transactions that I've been involved with! The original contract was written in April and we finally closed yesterday courtesy of title issues and Bank of America. I am surprised that BofA is still in business with the amount of incompetence I've seen! I can tell you that I'll never do business with them!
Hopefully all of your transactions go smoother than this one!
I'm not sure if anyone else is starting to experience this at all, but I actually think that buyers are starting to come off of the fence so that they don't miss the deadline to get the tax credit. Since it's taking longer to get loans done, buyers really only have about a month and a half left to get something in contract.
I hope the governement extends it for another year. but I wouldn't mind it if they waited until November to do it! : )
