Does Anyone Take Black & White Photos Anymore? - 08/20/12 01:58 PM
It was an odd thing…I happened to be messing with my camera, trying to get the photos from the camera to download onto the sandisk.  And, I  made an error.

No, it doesn’t happen often that I make a mistake, but if one had to be made, this was a great time to do it rather than while I was “working”.

I was trying to take photos of some fish we had caught, and the end result was that the camera was taking black and white shots which I found interesting, but not great.

Sadly, I … (22 comments)

Topics Almost Guaranteed to be a Featured Post; And those NOT! - Revisited! - 08/18/12 03:59 PM
I thought this was definitely worth a reblog.  And, if I follow the advice given here, I might actually get more than 3 comments and a whole lot of clicks.  Please thank the author and not me!  This was smart and funny.

There Are So Many Variables in a Transaction. - 08/06/12 03:09 PM
Bob has a new Challenge.  Write a post about what you bring to the table to add value to a listing or as a buyer’s agent.

I like it.  The problem is…there are no set “rules” for how our transactions go.  Whether they are foreclosures, short sales or regular sales, every transaction is a new beginning middle and end.

I am gamely going to try to make a go of this, but how many of your transactions have been that similar?  There are certain procedures we always follow, and I guess that will have to be the … (9 comments)

YouTube Thursdays - 2/16/2012 - How to make the Change with YouTube on March 7, 2012 - 08/05/12 02:20 PM
You might be familiar with this, but I wasn't.  And, I just set up a YouTube account for my listings.
Thankfully, I didn't have to relearn how to do this, but Debb gave some great resources here, so hat's off to her.  And, make sure you thank her!

You can always count on change. YouTube Channels are changing to a new design on March 7, 2012. I’ve already whined about it in a previous post, so today, I’ll adopt a more accepting and mature attitude and embrace the new options.  Are you buying … (0 comments)

Test Driving WordPress - 08/05/12 04:24 AM
Dick Greenberg is well worth reading.  I try to follow his blog posts regularly.  And, this post is a great explanation of how to construct a website for the neophyte.
Sometimes, when you are a beginning entrpreneur, you don't need a lot of bells and whistles to get set up.  Dick did a great job setting up Ron's Rustic Birdhouses for a fellow ActiveRainer.  And, if you check it out, remember that it wasn't constructed by an expert webmaster.  It was constructed by an intelligent and creative man using no more "magic" than you and I might be able to muster.

Need Something Fun & Different to Do with the Kids This Weekend? - 08/02/12 12:40 PM

Check out the Oliver Kelley Farm near Elk River, Minnesota for something fun, different and (educational) to do with the kids this weekend.  The farm is run as it was nearly 160 years ago and is operated by the Minnesota Historical Society.

Visitors will see — and may help — costumed staff members going about the tasks of mid-19th century farm

Livestock representing the breeds of Kelley’s day inhabit the farm. Lambs and piglets have already been born this year and kittens are expected any day. Chicks will also be hatching, Bercher said.

Important Issues Will Be on the Ballot for Elk River Residents! - 08/01/12 04:15 PM
The Elk River School Board has tentatively scheduled a vote on ballot questions for its August 30, 2012, business meeting.
There are a number of options on its agenda.
They are considering a proposal to add all day, every day kindergarten, which is one of its strategic plan’s primary goals. All day, every day kindergarten is being considered for more than just its educational merit. It’s also being considered to help prevent the district from losing families to other schools for such program options.
While I, personally, think that this is a crucial step to keep and attract families to the … (5 comments)
