Finally a break in the weather

Went out networking yesterday to open houses and talk with some agents. Thay all said that they had a lot of traffic. That is good. April has been blah for workload! The weather has something to do with it for sure. Iwas very optimistic this winter with an increased workload . April has not been kind though. I am hoping that it was just because this terrible Chicago weather. I am thinking this week should be a breakout week. I also had some minor technical problems on my website www.safeathomeinspect.comFor some goofy reason my homepage was coming up page not found. One of my fellow inspectors out in the LA area noticed it and let me know and I corrected the problem. Thanks to Dana Bostick of True Professionals, Inc In that short time my home page was down my ad words campaign was disapproved and stopped showing ads and also my search engine ranking went down. I think my page was only down maybe 12-24 hrs. So my advice would be to everyone is check your site a couple times a day just to make sure it is functioning Lets hope this spring market starts to move!

Man o man Have not done any blogging at all sorry about that. Will try to post more for sure. Waiting for some sign of spring. Market here in Chicago for Jan and Feb was looking good more than a 50% increase for me but Mar slacked off a bit . Hey anything is better than last year that was the pits a major let down. I feel a much better vibe this year than last. Web traffic is up and I just feel better this year than last. All we need now is for the weather to ease up a bit. Still can't make it out of the 40's Ugh. Last week could not even make it out of th30's double ugh. I am thinking as soon as it warms a little the market is going to pop like a tulip. I hope it does for all of us

Happy Holidays to all. Been slow as expected for this time of year. I hope everyone has had their furnace serviced by a qualified professional to ensure safety and top notch performance. Also make sur that you air filter are changed according to Mfr Specs. Hopefully something will be happening soon . I would think right after the holidays. I hope the next year is better than last year. I am for sure going to hang in there.

Been Away To Long

Hello everybody! Man o Man been away to long!. No excuses at all. Not much going on i the market. August was much better than July or should I say January. That is what it felt like. Volume is a ittle better. been doing some disaster work with all the floods here in IL. One day we will come out of this funk! Just have to hang in there. I am not going anywhere! Well everyone should start getting everything ready for winter and get ready to rake some leaves always fun right?

Water,Water, Water

Where is all this rain coming from? make sure your sump pumps and battery back ups are operating properly. This actually a good time to do inspections because that sneaky little enemy water is alot easier to spot. Well the grass sure looks good but the flowers are sure suffering from lack of sun. I hope no one out there has gotten any water intrusion in their house.

Decks and Memorial Day Thank You

Hello to all

Just reminding everyone to make sure your deck is in good shape before you pack all your friends on it. A good percentage of decks are not supported properly and are deteriorated. It is always agood idea to have an annual inspection and maintenance done to keep it in tip top shape. Nobody wants to have an accident that could have been prevented. Well everybody have fun on this very meaningful holiday weekend. We honor all the men and women who have given the supreme sacrifice. we could not do what we do without them. Hi All

Seems like every road I take has construction. Even when I take an alternate. I will have to check google on minute by minute basis. LOL. Thank God For GPS or I would have been lost at sea a couple times for sure . How did we get along without this great invention. They should give the inventor of GPS a medal for sure! I also want to thank the U.S military for all they do! Thank you all ! Whenever I see a military member I go up to them and shake their hand and thank them. I also would like to thank them for the great GPS system they graciously let us use. Hope thing are staring to pick up for everyone.

Unkown organic susbstances

Hello to all

I have been seeing more unknown organic substances (aka) possible mold recently. I just want everybody to know that you can get ill if you are exposed. Minimum protection is 3M model #8210 dust mask and they are available at all Home improvement centers. Mold is not always the end of the world. In alot of cases it can be re mediated. Just everyone be careful. I did get sick last year I just popped my head in a real wet crawlspace that looked like it had possible mold,and I did not have a mask on it could not have been more that 15 seconds and that night I felt like I was getting a cold,then for the next month I was just coughing and I was congested. It finally did go away but from then I always mask up for sure. So I am hoping everyone else is doing the same if they might even think there could be mold. Remember a $2.00 mask can save you from a month of coughing

weather and sales go hand in hand

Well I would definitely say weather and home sales go hand in hand. Things are stirring a little. I was e-mailed by an agent friend that sales in our are are up for sure. Personally I have not seen any increase from last year in my business actually a decrease to be honest. I will for sure stay optimistic. Hopefully we will make up any lost ground soon. well at least baseball is back.

Hi to all

Been thinking of adding another website to better serve the naperville area. It is for sure a lot of work since I have to create some new content that targets naperville. I welcome the challenge. I want my perspective clients and their agents to get as much info about myself and my company so I can perform the best inspection possible wish me luck I have not done alot of work on my website recently since I launched it last year and I was up late at night just adding content. I think i forgot how to do half that stuff LOL

Open Houses

Hi All

Went and visited some open house on Sun. Met some nice agents and hopefully we will see each other again. I really enjoy going to the open houses and chatting with agents it gives me a chance to know them on a personal basis and see what the market is doing. Best of all I like to talk ! My wife says to much LOL ! I also ask agents if they would like to receive my monthly newsletter. I never spam anyone because I for sure do not appreciate it myself. I almost always get a welcoming feeling from the agents and I definitely stay out of their way. Well hopefully the market will start popping after easter. Happy easter to all

Been away long time

I have been away srry with the holidays and everything. I have been under the weather a little to with aherniated disc in my neck for which I am going to therapy for, nothing like being in pan for much of the day every day. Seems like things are starting to stir a little been getting an inspection here and there. I am looking forward to a good spring .

Cold is Here to Stay

Well it has finally happened . We are stuck for sure in the deep freeze. One good thing about winter no yard work or cutting the grass. I still cook out though use alot more charcoal though hard to keep the grill hot. Also a good time to do more marketing ,catch up on linking on my website, and continuing education. Well we will just have to sit back and relax and count down the days till spring training

Indian Summer MIA

Indian Summer where are you? Wow I would have to say this Oct. Has been probably the worst weather wise I have ever seen. I think it is also dragging the home sales down with it. Some sales are finally starting to trickle back through, but not even close to the levels I had seen in the summer. I definitely expected it though. How is everybody else doing? Warmer weather is being forecast this week hopefully that will get some houses moving again.

Hi to all

Things have come to a grinding halt. Nothing going on at all. I had to check my phone and see if it still worked LOL. Well I did some painting before it gets to cold. I am going to Florida to see my Mom for the weekend. It is the first anniversary of my fathers passing so I thought we would spend that time together. I know for sure it will be much warmer there than here . Watch my phone will start ringing when I am down there. Well I will just have to roll with it. I hope it picks up next week. Slowed down a little . Have been doing some draw inspections for lenders. Nice work especially when it is near your residence. I would like to thank everyone for their kind words about the passing of my dog Haley. It really helped. I still miss her dearly but I have been doing better. I expected to slowdown a little here with kids going back to school. I think it will be busy in Oct though because buyers will want to cash in on the tax credit and it is starting to get close to the end. Closing has to be before the end of the year as I understand it. So I think we will get a rush here soon. Well lets hope so. Talk to you later

Goodbye Old Friend

Hello everyone . Had a tough day yesterday. My trusted beloved family dog Haley of 11years had to be put to sleep. Shewas a great dog a big black Labrador with a heart of gold. She developed a bone tumor in her front leg and when she was walking with my children her leg fractured. We did have some options such as amputation and chemo. But as a family we decided that at her age and her personality we did not want to put her through this. So we made the hard decision to let her go. I know where she is at right now she is loved and she is happy and in good care. I know one day I will see her again and she will be wanting me to scratch her ears or take her for a walk.Until then old friend I will always remember the time we spent with you and how you protected us and loved us and the all goofy things you would do. I want you know that we tried our best to take care of you best we could and we loved you with all of our hearts. Until we meet again. We Love you Haley

Hi everyone

Well it is august. So far so good . I am expecting a little drop , but I have a feeling it will not be to bad. August is always Ho -Hum. I think with tax credit it will be busier than we think. I think it will be nice and steady already have a few scheduled for next week. Would have been this week but the utilities were not on and I would rather have the utilities on so i can give the client a complete inspection. I had one for today but had to move to next week. Well I guess i will just enjoy this great day in the Chicago area. Temps are in the low 80's not humid. I will do a little yard work listen to a ball game and just enjoy. The Cicada's are singing pretty loud today maybe have a beverage and listen to the sounds of summer!

Hi everybody

Been a while since my last post. Have been busy the market looks really good well compared to last year. I am just wondering how august will be? Usually it is a Ho-Hum month. I already have an inspection booked for aug. so I guess that is a good start. We will just see how it goes. I have heard that home inventory is finally dropping is this true? I can't wait until next year the market will be even better we have for sure turned the corner

Hello Everybody

Well it feels like May both temperature and business wise. That is a good thing. The weather here in Chicago will probably not crack 70 degrees ! Crazy for the middle of July. I have been fairly busy and I am thinking it might continue because first time buyers want that $8000. From my understanding you need to close by the end of the year Not just have a signed contract. Well I hope everybody is having a decent year. Anything is better than last year .Man that was awful.
