Heart Month Comes to a Close....My Two Cents - 02/28/08 07:42 PM
The American Heart Association's February Heart Month is almost over but it can't escape without me putting in my two cents!  With a tremendous increase in obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol, Americans are eating themselves to death.  While many of us think that we are eating healthy, the fact is that we are most likely not.  I recommend switching to whole foods.  Whole foods are foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.  In other words, they have as little to no processing so they are not filled with preservatives like many other foods.  Examples … (1 comments)

Foreclosure Bill Faces The Senate Tomorrow - 02/25/08 07:40 PM
Tomorrow, the Senate could vote on the Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008 and decide whether this bill aimed at helping homeowners avoid losing their homes can continue on its path towards approval.  The most important and controversial part of this bill is a provision that would allow judges the ability to reduce mortgage balances for at-risk borrowers to current market prices.  For example, a mortgage balance of $200,000 could be reduced to what the home would sell for on the open market.  Thus, saving the borrower hundreds of dollars a month in mortgage payments.
What do you think?  Will it pass?  Should … (4 comments)

Easter Already! - 02/20/08 07:17 PM
I was walking through some of the local stores around Ridgewood and Bergen County the other day and I was amazed to see how much Easter candy was out already!  We just finished up Valentine's Day and the stores were already well on their way into the Easter holiday.  Easter is an exciting time of the year for children.  Complete with the Easter bunny and Easter egg hunts, Easter is loads of fun for the little ones.  However, with fun comes some precautions.  I myself have children and below are some important Easter safety tips:
Be sure that Easter toys and dolls (such … (1 comments)

Who doesn't love a Gala Dinner???  Complete with dancing, drinks and dinner....this is a great way to donate to the Oakland Education Foundation.  Plus, a 50/50 raffle for those wishing to try their luck!  I truly believe that our children are our future and this is one way to help out the foundations that go to benefit their education.  I hope a lot of residents come out for this event in support of education.

Oakland New Jersey, Great Place to Raise Kids -- For Less - 02/16/08 09:23 PM
Here is a great article about a community that we serve. Business Week came up with a list of 50 places in the United States that offer the right combination of community, education and safety. Oakland New Jersey real estate is a great place to invest for the future of your family. Located near major highways and sharing the same regional high school with Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes, Oakland is a great town, consider raising your family here.

Still Feeling Great about the Giants Victory in Super Bowl XLII - 02/11/08 11:53 PM
I know that the Pro Bowl is over now and the NFL season has officially concluded. I just wanted to point out that there was only 1 Giant player in the Pro Bowl (and he wasn't even a starter) During the playoffs we had to beat teams that stacked the starting lineups of both the AFC & NFC Pro Bowl squads. I have posted other blogs about my Giants in the last month, so when I finish this one I will be done. Here we are just as the game ended.
BTW. Anybody know what person's Jersey I have been wearing during … (6 comments)

The Book Vs. The Movie...Which Will Prevail? - 02/06/08 06:51 PM
I just finished up reading the book, I Am Legend by Richard Matheson.  I'm sure many of you are familiar with this title from the recent movie that came out with the same name.  The movie I Am Legend was based off of the book.  I saw the movie as well and after watching the movie I started thinking....how often are movies completely different than the books they are based on?  The movie I Am Legend was completely different than the book!  Of course, there were similar aspects but overall, the movie was completely different.  So...which one is better, the book … (1 comments)

Fans Jam Lower Manhattan For The Giant's Parade - 02/05/08 06:47 PM
Today was the ticker tape parade for the Super Bowl Champions New York Giants!  Although I did not get to go, I can only imagine the excitement and energy flowing through the crowd today.  The parade began on Battery Place at 11AM and continued up Broadway onto City Hall where the mayor honored the team and gave each member of the team an honorary key to the city.
Eli Manning, Michael Strahan, Tom Coughlin, Plaxico Burress, David Tyree...they were all there.  Congratulations once again to the New York Giants as they stunned the New England Patriots!

Super Bowl Eve Chili Cook Off....I Wish I Heard About This Earlier! - 02/05/08 06:35 PM
On Saturday evening, the eve of the Super Bowl, Ridgewood had their annual Super Bowl Eve Chili Cook-off.  I wish I had heard about this earlier!  The evening included viewing "Football Follies," guest speakers, door prizes and more.  The food for the event was donated by a number of local businesses including Best of Everything, Broad Street Smokehouse and Grill, the Daily Treat, the Silver Spoon and the Office.  I wish I was there to taste some of the various chilis and see whose was the best!  Count me in for next year!

Valentine's Day A Different Way - 02/04/08 06:42 PM
Valentine's Day is fast approaching...what are your plans?  Besides the usual fancy dinner and romantic night...does anyone have any unique approaches to this holiday?  I'm curious to hear what everyone is planning.  Here is a fun idea for those in Bergen County:
"Love in in the Air" is the musical theme of the upcoming vocal concert at the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood on Sunday, February 24th at 2:00pm.  An afternoon of romantic selections from Opera and Musical Theater will be presented by soloists and organist of the church's Chancel Choir.

Bergen County Realtor Inspired by Dokken! It's Not Love. - 02/03/08 11:15 PM
Dawn and I started dating in 1987. One of my favorite bands back then was Dokken. They were actually the band I wanted to see most in the 1988 concert tour Monsters of Rock. Here is the video

New York Giants Super Bowl XLII Champs... How Sweet it is! - 02/03/08 10:05 PM
Hi Everyone,
This has been one of the greatest sports moments in recent history. Better than the Giants beating the Bills in Super Bowl XXV. This rivals the Rangers winning the Stanley Cup in 1994. That was something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. This was the best Super Bowl Game ever. The Giants first drive was over 8 minutes long and then Eli Manning drives the team down the field to score the game winning touchdown with :35 seconds left to go. Not to mention the play where he seemed to be sacked, broke free and found … (9 comments)

Bergen County Real Estate & The New York Giants in the Super Bowl - 02/03/08 03:50 PM
This is my last chance to let you all know how proud we are here in Bergen County of the New York Giants! Super Bowl XLII is only hours away. I was hoping for this matchup December 29th. The Patriots were coming to New Jersey and I was predicting a Super Bowl Preview. People commented that there really was no chance. We lost a close game that night, but played well. The following week we went to Tampa Bay (we were supposed to lose on the Road) but we won again. We moved on to Dallas again no chance at winning. … (3 comments)
