Yesterday as we were finishing up a staging in a vacant home, my assistants were ready to go when I noticed the dust ruffle was very wrinkled.  When I mentioned this, they said I was being too particular and that no one would notice.  I STRONGLY disagreed!  It's all about the details, from the small things like wrinkled ruffles to the large things like furniture placement.   Wrinkled dust ruffles, or even throw pillows tossed half hazardly, are enough to throw the whole presentation off, in my opinion.  I take my steamer with me to every staging project.  It is invaluable … (26 comments)

I know many of you stagers, like myself, sometimes run into smallish living rooms when staging.  I found some compact chairs that are neat and small and quite classy.  These good looking leather chairs fit the bill where a bigger chair simply would not.   I found a company that is running a special on these at vikinghome.com.  These chairs can fit nicely into bedrooms as well as small living rooms or offices.  The  wood and leather are beautiful and they come in many colors.  Here is how they fit in this small living room we staged a couple of weeks ago.

INJECTING MASCULINITY FOR BALANCE - 07/13/08 07:04 PM
It is easy to get too feminine when staging master bedrooms.  We stagers need to keep our male buyers in mind as well when we get into designing this space that can easily lend itself to a feminine feel.  There are many ways to balance out that girly girl feeling.  In this bedroom, I initially hung white  and aqua curtains.  I also did not have the brown rug down.  The room just felt and looked way too girly so I traded out the curtains for the ones you see in black and brown.  Adding the brown and black touches with pillows/rug … (6 comments)
