HGTV - IMPACTING OUR CUSTOMERS WITH FALSE EXPECTATIONS - 01/14/09 12:28 PM
While going out on consultations and doing stagings, on more than one occasion I have run into customers who balk at the prices involved (mine are very competitive).  They quote prices they've heard on programs on HGTV and Decorating To Sell, etc.  and wonder why me and my contractors have the prices we do?  Have you ever noticed the prices mentioned during the programs are described as TOTAL COSTS....EXCUSE ME but can anyone tell me where I can find that free painter, electrician, tile layer, contractor, etc etc????  If I can just find those people, then I too can quote the … (5 comments)

274 PAINTBRUSH PATH - MELODY SALAZAR'S CUSTOM HOME -NEW BRAUNFELS, TX - 01/12/09 10:21 AM
Announcing a 4400 sq ft, custom, rustic and elegant home in New Braunfels, TX, located on the Austin/San Antonio corridor (IH35), this is an excellent location for best of both worlds.  Live on the peaceful banks of the Guadalupe River, but have a short commute to either of 2 large metropolitan areas.   this little gem of a town is tucked in around beautiful lakes and rivers.  The home was designed by Mel of Salazar Staging & Custom design (www.salazarstaging.com)
This home is situated in the small, intimate, gated development of River Forest.  With only 55 sites, all homes are custom … (2 comments)

NOT ALL WALLPAPER IS BAD! - 01/10/09 09:09 AM
We stagers know that dated wallpaper is a must go item.  However, don't jump too quickly to remove any and all paper.  Sometimes, if the paper is not floral or too reminiscent of days gone by, you can use it.  In this room, the top paper was that of a faux paint treatment.  At first we were going to take it all down and then I realized if we just removed the 70's paper that was on the bottom half, we could keep the top paper.  Would love to see others' saved paper.

ROOMS USED FOR STORAGE - 01/10/09 08:56 AM
It seems I run into many homeowners who have turned a room in their house into a 'storage' area.  We need to convince them that these are nothing more than wasted space and right now every inch of a home should be labeled prime real estate.  Send us those rooms where the 'after' can't help but be a great improvement.
Even though this is just a tiny bedroom, the way it was being presented hurt the overall impression.  Salazar Staging brought in a couple pieces of furniture and turned this wasted space into a selling point.

MAKE IT WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE - 01/09/09 10:28 AM
TARGET YOUR MARKET!
We've all run into rooms that are nothing but question marks - Rooms that leave buyers scratching their head as to what they can do in that room.  Or we may go into a house that should be marketed as a family home, only to find it's a spread out bachelor pad that does nothing to show how the home would work for a family.  That's when stagers can really make a difference.  Salazar Staging went through this home and pulled furniture out of rooms where large pieces were cramped.
Here was a four bedroom home where the owner bachelor … (10 comments)

FURNITURE RENTALS COST COMPARISON - 01/01/09 09:25 PM
If I've learned anything this year, it's that the majority of staging clients are new to the industry.  When clients have never before used stagers or staging, they truly don't have any point of comparison in regard to pricing.  Even very good pricing can seem exorbitant to a newbie.
After researching prices from a major furniture rental company, I put together a chart comparing their prices with mine.  I include the following, along with the chart, in order to inform first time users (or anyone really)and illuminate what excellent prices they are receiving with my company.
PRICE COMPARISON
Because staging is … (9 comments)
