Stand By Letters of Credit ......

Stand By Letters of Credit

International Financing Solutions and ACT Global Finance have established relationships
with a few "A" rated top-world banks to provide an
Irrevocable Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC) service.
____________________________________________

The details of this service is .....

The SBLC will initially be good for 366 days and renewals are available.

The fee to the Bank is a flat 10% (less than 1% a month & subject to fluctuate depending on the bank)

The fee to the Bank is due upon delivery of the SBLC.

Our retainer and service fee is 1% to 3% based on the amount of SBLC.

The Broker fee is due upfront upon acceptance of our Term Sheet

The steps are:

1. The client remits the completed SBLC Bank application to us.
2. The Term Sheet is issued.
3. The client remits the Broker fee upon acceptance of the Term Sheet.
4. The irrevocable SBLC is drafted by the Bank.
5. The Bank fee is escrowed upon acceptance of the Bank SBLC draft.
6. The Bank fee is released to the Bank upon Client receipt of the irrevocable SBLC.

This can all happen within 3-5 business days with
immediate Client Cooperation.

Once again, the Provider Bank is an "A" rated top-world Bank and does not qualify the uses of the SBLC.

All the client needs in order to obtain the annually renewable, irrevocable SBLC is a non-criminal record and the ability to pay for it.

Please contact us for the current availability of this program, any guideline changes and if you wish to proceed forward ... request an application.

Hello Folks,

Well, as the old saying goes.... "You can run but you can't hide" applies to me in this case. I was "tagged" last night by my friend Steve Smith in Bellingham, Washington to do a "Book MeMe".

Now for me to do a "Book MeMe" is almost impossible because I have NO BOOKS in my office. I basically stopped reading books back in college. Heck, my senior year, I didn't buy books to most of my classes .... Kind of figured that since I had gotten this far in college without reading many text books, why waste the money if I wasn't going to read them.

Well, let me make a correction .... I have one book in my office and it is titled "Views of Louisville since 1766". It is a book about Louisville, Kentucky and is basically pictures with a brief description. I enjoy history and especially about places I've lived or visited.

Soo, let's open this baby up and see IF we even have any words on page 56 and what it says .....

"View of Ohio River and part of Shippingport, looking west probably from near Tarascon mill site. Writer and traveler, Capt. Basil Hall, formerly of the British Navy, made at least four sketches of Louisville scenes with the camera lucida in May 1828"

The above was a description of a picture looking over the Ohio River in the Louisville, Kentucky area.

Ok, now for the five folks I will "Tag" for doing their Book MeMe ...

This morning in Southwest Florida was another beautiful morning to walk the beach. The tide this morning was at it's lowest since about 6+ months ago. The gulf was calm and the marine life was quite plentiful along the beach.

Although the Shelling wasn't great, but that was expected. We won't have any "good" shelling until anothe storm comes ashore. We don;t have to have a hurricane or tropic storm to wash up fresh shells, but just a strong winter storm that has strong winds. It is the winds that stir up the gulf's floor and pushes the shells up on the beach.

Here are some of the critters I came across today......

This first picture is of a Starfish which I've never seen along the beaches before. I actually saw this one and one other while walking the beach. This little guy was a fast mover too. I'm use to the typical starfish which moves at the pace of a slug, but this guy was very fast.

The below picture is of a live "Banded Tulip" which was moving through the sand looking for the Gulf Waters which had receeded in the low tide.

Hello Folks,

Well ...... This morning we went to check out the Sand Sculptures on Fort Myers Beach. All of the artist were working on their artwork today in preparation to the awards ceremony which come after 5pm on Sunday (tomorrow). The variety of artwork was quite amazing.

Last year, the Sand Sculpture contest was broker up into two separate areas ... the Professionals on one section of Beach and the Amatures on another section. Well, this year they had the same two areas, but I honestly could not see any difference between the "Pros" and Amatures. Last year it was easy to see the difference in quality.

We arrived at 8:30am in an attempt to beat the crown, which we did, BUT by the time we left it was becoming noticably more crowded. Sunday would be the best day to see the finished products, but then again..... It will be even more crowded with spectators.

Below is "Part I" of the pictures

Hello Folks,

Some of you may have read previous blogs about Kris, but for those who haven't .......

Kristin is my favorite sister, well, my only sister, and my younger sister. Kristin was born with cerebral palsy and some physical disabilities. Even though she has these handicaps to deal with every day, she is probably the happiest person I know.

Kristin is always saying funny phrases. She picks most of these up from watching her favorite TV shows. Typically these shows are found on the station TV Land.

Another interesting characteristic about Kristin is that she has a memory like a steel trap and is EXTREMELY observant. To look at her, you wouldn't think or perceive these qualities, but once you start to spend time with her, you quickly notice how observant she is.

As an example, about this time every year, my sister and my mom drive from Kentucky down to Bonita Springs, Florida. A couple years back, as they were on I-75 in the Sarasota area, my mom mentioned that she & Kristin should make a trip back up to the area to visit the Mote Aquarium. Mom then mentioned that she will need to check which exit they would need to get off at to visit the Aquarium and without missing a beat, Kristin said it was exit 221. ..... Mom being a bit shocked asked her how she new that and Kristin said she wasn't sure .... She just knew.

Just this past month, my mom was having a conversation with our father and they were discussing another family member who, well ... lets say .... Isn't well liked by the family. Anyway, my mom said that this relative was the "B" word. (Trying not to use the word in front of my sister) When Kristin piped up ... "you mean Bitch"?

Earlier today, my mom and sister were going to a large Flea Market which we have in Fort Myers. As one heads down the road toward the Flea Market, you pass the county jail. Well, As they were going past the jail my mom asks Kristin ..'Do you know what that is?" In which case my sister replies "that's the Big House!" Kristin also has the habit of referring to the police and "the fuzz" when ever she sees a police officer.

As I mentioned, Kristin can be a lot of fun. One of her favorite games is to play Putt Putt Golf (Miniature Golf) and dang if she ain't the luckiest person who plays. Now, here is a 38 year old girl who someone has to hold her up when she puts because she can't keep her balance well and she scores more Holes-in-One than anyone I've ever met. AND she like rubbing it in ...... And if she looses, she is a sore looser.

One last item on Kristin. Every year come mid June to early July, my sister will mail me her Christmas List. She wants to make sure that I have plenty of time to buy her the gifts. On Christmas night, she ALWAYS goes to bed early in preparation for Santa to visit during the night.

Here are a couple previous blogs on Kristin....

The Way America Votes Needs to Change ........A Non-Political, Political View ....

Hello folks,

Being as today is Election Day and it appears to be record turn out, I believe it is time that the United States changes the way we hold elections.

In today's technological age, it is time that the United States starts allowing people to vote from their home computer. Currently we can conduct our Banking from a computer, order stocks and other investments, buy merchandise, conduct business around the world BUT we can not vote.

Voting by computer would save thousands of man hours, eliminate lines, cut down on voter fraud and make the process Soooo much easier. Another benefit would also be an increase percentage of the number of people who vote. We can always allow for the old fashion polling places for those who do not want to use a computer, but just think of the savings and advantages.

People could verify who they are by either using their Social Security Number, Driver's License Number, OR we could be assigned a specific number which would be on the Voter Registration Card, which are no longer used anyway. The time frame to vote could last 5 or 7 days to give everyone ample time to place their vote. There would be no more need for "absentee" ballots since you could vote from anywhere in the world and our military personel would be able to vote ON TIME and not have to be counted after-the-fact.

The federal government should regulate HOW voting is to take place so that everyone is on the same page. I think this "may" be one thing that can be accomplished by the government without many errors ....... but you never know.

Sincerely,
Sean Allen
President
International Financing Solutions
a division of Sean Allen, Inc.
Skype: sean.allen5
www.InternationalFinancingSolutions.com

Specializing in Development Financing Around the World

***The best way to reach me is via e-mail***

Hello Folks,

Not in an attempt to jump on the "bandwagon" with Steven Smith and Charles Buell, who both have hired "assistants" for their Home Inspection businesses, I wanted to point out an interesting fact about assistants.

Back when I first started "The Mortgage Professionals", we had our own "Assistant" who was of the four legged variety. For the first two years our "assistant" was featured on the Employee Profile Page of our website which also consisted of a biography of every ones individual past experiences in the field.

At that time "The Mortgage Professionals" primary source of income was residential financing, where as today our emphasis is in commercial financing.

Our "assistant" was Mr.Mozart. As I mentioned, we had his picture on the profile page and referred to him as a "Specialist in Dog House Financing". We also had him as Bi-lingual by saying that Mozart "Habla Woof Woof". I will admit, Mr. Mozart did a fabulous job of bringing in more business. We were even in the working to start a real advertising campaign focusing on "Mozart" and his abilities.

We did have Mozart featured in many e-mail campaigns. The responses were mixed. Some people loved it that we had Mozart in the ad as our specialist for "Dog house financing" while others told us how "unprofessional" we were. I didn't pay much attention to the negative replies, I just figured they were probably jealous.

Well, we all know the story...... before we could get a large scale ad campaign out and running, the housing market took a dive and we have to re-allocate our advertising money on other avenues for bringing in business. Since then Mr. Mozart has decided to retire and spend a life of laying around the house enjoying his pension.

Dang little guy has a better pension than we do.

On a side note:
I have ALWAYS believed that you had to set yourself apart from the rest of the people in the business in order to be successful. You either needed to specialize in a niche market, has unusual advertising campaigns or basically do "something" to catch the public attention. Mr. Mozart worked in that regard for us.

If you follow the crowd and do what they are doing, you will never be able to "get out front" and lead the crowd. Be different, be noticable and don't be afraid of what others will say.

* You cannot help the poor, by destroying the rich..

* You cannot strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong.

* You cannot bring about prosperity, by discouraging thrift.

* You cannot lift the wage earner up, by pulling the wage payer down.

* You cannot further the brotherhood of man, by inciting class hatred.

* You cannot build character and courage, by taking away men's initiative and independence.

* You cannot help men permanently, by doing for them what they could and should, do for themselves.

Do you recognize the author?

It was Abraham Lincoln

Very, very wise words, written years ago and we still don't get it

A huge benefit to working with Commercial Private Money Sources is that many of them are NOT affected by the collapsing financial markets we are currently experiencing.

Our two main funding sources are based in the UK and Switzerland. Both companies have been around for MANY years and the UK source was financing loans back during the depression in the 1920s. These are forward looking lending sources that realize that today's economy is not going to be affect a project that is scheduled to be completed 18 to 36 months from now.

International Financing Solutions works only with sources who continue to fund Development Loans at 100%LTC (Loan to Cost) with a maximum of 80% LTV (Loan to completed value). If you have a residential development, we can still fund them. You will need to either have substantial pre-sales or a strong feasibility study plus be in the control of an experienced developer.

Our sources will also entertain the unusual projects like Shrimp Farms, Recycling Plants, Tidal power, Bio-diesel plants and much more. They especially like resorts and hotels since these are cash cows once the doors open. If the resort / hotel is flagged, that is even better.

If you have a project that needs financing and you are having difficulty finding a viable funding source, please give us a call or send an email. We would enjoy the opportunity to review your project for potential funding.

To review your file, we will need the following documents:

* Detailed Business Plan
* Detailed Pro-forma
* Complete our Submission Form

The above documents need to be emailed to us.

We Accept Referrals From Other Brokers.

Hello Folks,

Growing up in Kentucky we had a lot of slugs sliding around on the ground. You know the little slimy critters I'm sure.

When I moved to Florida, I was surprised to see so many Snails sliding around. Our area of Florida does not have many slugs (although we do have a very small "Hammerhead Slug"- but that will be for a future blog). When I lived in Naples, Florida the area around our home was inundated with Snails. Every evening when you exited the house or car, you has to keep your eye on the ground to prevent the inevitable "crunch" from stepping on one.

These snails are quite cute and have very fragile shells, soooo they do "crunch" quite easily. Our older dog, Princess, also enjoyed having a few as a meal. ...... Yuck

Anyway, at our current home we only occasionally will see a snail slithering along the ground. The other morning I snapped this picture of one such critter, only problem was ..... he WASN'T on the ground but about 6 feet up on the side of the house.

I have no idea where he was planning on going, and he probably didn't know either, but he sure was heading toward the clouds. Soo, I carefully took him off the wall and placed him back on the ground.

The Everglades have a species of Snail called an "Apple Snail" and a specific bird called a "Snail Kite" feeds on them. The problem is that the Snails are slowly decreasing in numbers which is causing a decrease in the Snail Kite.

hope you enjoyed this story on our Slippery Snail.

Romeo the Turkey Vulture

Hello Folks,

Thought I would share a little story about Romeo the Turkey Vulture. For those of you who visit my blog, know that most of what I write is either about visits to our beaches, the birds we have in the back yard and political propaganda.

Romeo the Turkey Vulture is one of the many birds we see behind the house, generally flying around in the sky. He has a few buddies which accompanies him and some of these are cousins, Black Vultures.

I gave Romeo his name because in the past week, Mr. Romeo has been visiting a neighbor's house which sits diagonally across the lake from my home. The neighbors house is a two story home and Romeo likes to land on the lower roof. He then sasheys over to the second story window and proceeds to look in. He will regularly hop up on the window frame to get a better view of the interior of the home.

My guess is that Romeo is actually looking at his own reflection in the window. I can only speculate that as Romeo is looking at HIS reflection, he is probably thinking to himself "who is that sexy Vulture I see"? Not knowing that he is infatuated with himself.

**To the right is a picture of Romeo on another Neighbors roof. I was not able to get a clear picture of him looking in the window.**

So far I have watch Romeo do this on three separate days and each time he will spend about 30 minutes staring at his reflection. He must REALLY be in love with himself, Boy ..... If he only knew!!!
_____________________________________

The difference between a Turkey Vulture and Black Vulture is that the heads on a Turkey Vulture is bright red, the head on a Black Vulture is Black. This is the easiest way to distinguish the two apart.

Hello Folks,

Today is an abnormal day for Southwest Florida..... The sky is cloudy and I don't think it is suppost to rain. It is very rare to have a day which stays cloudy ALL day in Southwest Florida. Normally we will have a few clouds roll through, but then in no time, the sun pops back out and is a beautiful day.

Even though it is cloudy, we decided to take an afternoon break and walk the beach. One of our favorite beaches is Barefoot Beach which it right next to Bonita Beach..... The county line between Lee County (Ft. Myers) and Collier County (Naples) is the deviding line with Barefoot Beach being in Collier County.

The Gulf of Mexico was like a sheet of glass today with very small waves. These ways weren't over a few inches tall. The water was that pretty aqua blue/green, but would have been spectacular if the sun had been shinning, then the colors would have really shown nicely.

While walking along Barefoot Beach, we came along a new home which has been under construction for the past year. It is quite modern in design and it appears that they have about completed the exterior of the house. Here is a side view looking south and a view from the beach....

We also came along some marine life, as usual. The next three pictures are of a Lightning Whelk I pulled out of the sand. These shells like to burrow into the sand until it is feeding time. When they do they it is easy to spot them, at least for me, but I would guess that 90% of beach walkers would walk right on by and not know these guys were even around.

The first picture (right) is how these animal look when they are buried in the sand and only about 1 to 1.5 inches of the tip of their shell sticks out.

These shells are extremely shart and if you are not careful they can slice open a foot or a hand.

This next picture is of the shell after I have gently wiggled it out of the sand. The shell and the hole are about the diameter of a baseball.

You can clearly see the section of the shell which was previously sticking out of the sand because it is not covered with sand. A very small portion of the whole animal.

Lastly, you can see how pretty a shell they have after I've rinsed it off in the surf.

Don't worry, I placed him back in the water after taking these pictures. In most areas of Florida it is illegal to keep live shells.

As mentioned above, the wide part of this shell is about the diameter of a baseball and it is about 5 to 6 inches long.

The final picture is of a Sea Urchin which was washed up on the beach. I took this picture before returning him to the water also. This guy was a little smaller than a baseball.

Hope you have enjoyed todays visit to the beach.

Commercial Hard Money or Commercial Bridge Loans ......

Commercial Hard Money or Commercial Bridge Loans:

International Financing Solutions & ACT Global Finance Specialized in an assortment of commercial funding programs. One of our more popular programs involves securing Commercial Hard Money or Bridge Loans.

Commercial Hard Money or Commercial Bridge Loans are typically short term loans to allow the borrower more time to re-organize or re-structure a permanent loan on their commercial property. These loans are usually good for 12 months to 36 months and are associated with high costs. The subject properties can be in the United States or elsewhere in the world.

The main determining factors for qualifying for such a loan are:

The current "As Is" Market Value of the Subject Property

The Exit Strategy ... How long the loan is needed and where will the money come from to pay back the loan.

These loans can be used to acquire a new business or a raw piece of land for future development. The key here is the Market value of the subject property in relation to the loan amount requested.

The Typical Guidelines for these loans are:

Maximum of 50% LTV of the "As Is" Market value of the Subject Property

Interest rate will be between 12% to 15%

Total fees collected at closing will be between 7 and 10 points

Loan Term is for 12 months with the ability to extend to 36 months

Typical closing time is 30 to 45 days

Minimum Loan amount of $5 Million USD

Available on properties around the world ( with a few exceptions )

Up front fees will range from $25,000 to $40,000 depending on loan amount and location of the subject property on the globe

Many times these loans are used to acquire the property with additional funds for infrastructure and planning expenses (applying for permits, entitlements, ect.). They can also be used by existing business to help get them over a financially tight business time period.

In order for our team to perform an initial review your project for such a loan, we will need the following information:

Business Plan

Pro forma

Detailed ‘Use of Funds"

Detailed Exit Strategy

Copy of a recent appraisal which shows the "As is" Value of the property.

Please be sure to keep in mind that the "Market Value" will typically come in at 20% to 30% below the current appraised value. The funding source will make a determination on the Market Value after their analysts have reviewed the appraisal and completed research on similar property in the geographic region as the subject property.

Need assistance securing financing for your project?

Hello Folks,

Today was a gorgeous day to walk the beach. This mornings temperature dropped down into the mid sixties but by 9:00am, it was back into the low seventies. The sun was shinning bright and we had a beautiful blue sky.

There were quite a few people walking the beach this morning. I believe this was due to a combination of issues .....

One: It was a great morning to walk the beach

Two: the snow birds have already started to arrive in town which about doubles our population during the winter month in the Fort Myers / Naples, Florida area.

We had a low tide this morning which usually makes shelling good, but it was actually quite dull today, but who cares with the beautiful weather. I did find numerous "live" shells up on the beach. There were many live "Lettered Olive" shells moving through the sand trying to find the water. These shells had been left up in the sand when the tide receded, but they are use to this happening.

The Lettered Olive will burrow
through the sand both while in the water or up on land. I know they do this while in the water to look for food, but when the water has receded, I'm not sure why they continue to do this.

The picture to the left is a Letter Olive burrowing through the sand. You can see his shell in the lower part of the hook.

When in water the Olive family of shells are the fasting moving mollusk in the ocean.

The day was also a good for sailing. I could see a few sailboats way off in the distance taking advantage of the nice breeze coming in from the north.

This one sailboat to the right had been sailing north with it's sails open, but he then turned to head south.

The picture to the right is another LetteredOlive shell, but this guy was moving along on top of the sand. These animals have some of the most beautiful shiny shells of any of the sea animals we find on our area.

Here is a parting shot of the beach this morning at low tide..

One of the things that makes the beaches of Southwest Florida (Sanibel, Captiva, Bonita Springs, Naples, Ect.) so enjoyable is the lack of large hotels lining the beaches. Other than Ft. Myers Beach, you will not see many hotels on our beaches.

Most of our beaches are lined with private homes and condominiums. Fortunately the condominiums are clustered together in groups which leaves the rest of the shoreline to only have homes along the beach. With these homes comes a lot of plants and trees, which helps with the scenery.

The variety of homes is quite diverse also. Typically the smaller one or two story homes are the old "original" homes. These are nice, quaint homes that were mostly used for vacations by the owner or rented out during certain parts of the year to help offset the expense of owning the home. In the past 15 years people have been buying up these older homes and tearing them down in order to build some massive homes. Many of these "newer" houses are 4 to 5 stories tall with numerous balconies that overlook the beach.

These BIG homes are nice to look at, but personally, I prefer the smaller quaint homes. There really is no reason to have such a large home on the beach. It isn't like you need to build tall in order to see OVER another home to get a view, your back yard IS the beach and regardless of how short or tall your home is .... you will still have a beautiful site when you look out the back onto the beach.

Here are some of the homes found on Bonita Beach .......

Hello Folks,

Living in Florida provides us the opportunity to see many beautiful species of birds. The Reddish Egret is one which we see literally daily in our back yard. I believe it is the same bird every time, but that will be impossible to know. For the past year this Reddish Egret has been frequenting the lake in our back yard foraging for food. He feeds predominantly on small fish, but I'm sure he will also eat small reptiles and amphibians in addition to his fish diet.

The Reddish Egret is actually a Dark Slate Blue color. This coloration is found on the back and chest while their necks are a deep purplish/red color. Their bills are a bluish/pink color with a black tip and their legs are a gray/blue color.

Back at the turn of the 19th century these bird were also killed off to extinction by hunters who wanted their feathers. This was the fate of many of Florida's birds when their plumage was desired for women's clothing.

**The two ducks in the picture are female mallard Ducks which have been statying on the lack for the past few months. We have 4 Mallards total with an occassional 2 more showing up from time to time.**

As I mentioned, I believe the same bird frequents our back yard. I've never seen two of these birds on our lake at the same time, BUT this bird is always accompanied by another relative. Our Reddish Egret (which is in the Heron family) is ALWAYS seen in the company of a Tricolor Heron. It is like these two birds have a relationship together even though they are of different species.

The Tricolor Heron has a white chest and lighter color gray body with a light yellow bill. Even as I write this, the Tricolor Heron is on one side of the lake and the Reddish Egret is on the other.

Below is a distant picture of the Tricolor Heron (to the right) and the Reddish Egret (to the left).

The weather today in Southwest Florida is simply gorgeous. The temperature is in the mid 80s, the humidity is low and we have a nice cool wind blowing from the north. A GREAT day to be working for our lania.

A few minutes ago I looked out into the back yard, which is mostly a big lake, and noticed that all the water birds wee gathered in the corner by our yard. At first sight I thought this was pretty odd, because usually these birds are spread out all around the lake. As I looked down the lake I saw the reason for the segregation of the birds ..... There was a Bald Eagle on the lakes edge further down the bank.

We are not blessed with frequent sights of Bald Eagles from our back lania, maybe 3 or 4 times a year, and with that it is generally just a quick glance as they are flying through the area. This Bald Eagle was a bit different. As I mentioned he was on the ground at the lakes edge for quite some time and then flew to a pine tree closer to our home.

Since landing in the tree he has been there for about 30+ minutes. I guess he is just checking out the area.

As most people know, the Bald Eagle is Federally protected species. In our part of Florida, we have numerous restrictions on how close a developer can build a building in relation to an Eagles nest. AND if a property has an Eagles Nest on it, then it can not be developed until the nest is considered abandoned .... which can takes YEARS to make that determination. The restrictions get even tougher during breeding season if a nest is found in a specific area.

Hope you have enjoyed the pictures.

Hello Folks,

The Snowy Egret is a common bird to South Florida and especially in our area of Southwest Florida. These are beautiful birds which are roughly 24 inches tall, black beak, black legs and bright yellow feet.

The Snowy Egret migrates from the Great Lakes area down to Florida during the winter months but we do have thousands of these birds as yearly residents. These birds are typically found by themselves working/feeding along various bodies of water.

They are common along the coast working the surf for little fish and can be found inland around lakes and canals. They are very interesting to watch because when they are working in shallow water, they will shake their feet to scare up various amphibians or small fish while they walk. If you watch one of these birds it seems like they have a medical problem because of their shaking, but it is actually how they catch their food.

In late winter or early spring these birds grow their Mating Plumage. The long lacy feathers that grow on the back of their necks and as tail feather are quite pretty and look very lacy. Years ago ( 1920s and before) these birds were about killed to extinction because of feather hunters. Back during this time, lacy feathers where quite common in ladies fashion wear.

**The picture to the right is of a Great White Heron which is a large relative of the Snowy Egret. You can get an idea of the fancy Mating Plumage on his back.**

The Snowy Egret is very territorial. They will squawk and attack others in their species when two of them get too close. "Close" could be 100 yards if they are both on the same lake and one sees the other.

Bass fishermen love these birds because it attracts the game fish "Bass". If you see a Snowy Egret walking along the bank of a fresh water lake, more often than not, you will see the wake of a school of Bass following the bird along the bank. The bass have learned that these birds scare up food and make feeding for the Bass quite easy.

Hello Folks,

Thought I would share a fascinating show by National Geographic. I was watching this in the past hour. It is about a cavern which was discover in 2000 in Mexico. I don't remember where in Mexico.

It is called "Crystal Cave". The cave was discovered while a Silver/Lead mine was being expanded. At a depth of 1000 feet below the surface of the earth, the miners had punched a hole through one of the walls and when they looked inside they saw HUGE crystals.

Since the discovery of the crystals, a special team of scientist were gathered together to explore the 'Crystal Cave". Due to the depth ... the temperature in the cavern is around 120 degrees. At these temperatures the scientist have to wear a specialized suit so as NOT to over heat. Without the suit the longest they can stay exposed to the heat is 5 minutes. Any longer than this amount of time they risk having heat damage done to the internal organs.

The Crystals in this cave are the size of Telephone Poles. When I saw the pictures of the Crystals, the first thing that came to mind was Superman and his home. As I mentioned the Crystals are the size of telephone poles and weight in excess of 60 ton.

Up until the years 2000 this cavern was underwater, but in the process of expanding the mine, the miners have to pump out excess water which drained the cavern which holds the crystals.

Another fascinating piece of information about the crystals is that the scientist have to wear gloves when they touch them because they emit so much heat and are razor sharp. They have also estimating the crystals to be about 500,000 years old and only recently stopped growing. Recently being right before the year 2000 when the water had been pumped out.

To see pictures of the Crystals please visit this National Geographic website:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/04/photogalleries/giant-crystals-cave/

The White Ibis is a very common bird in Florida. Most of these birds migrate to Florida for the winter months from up north, but we do have many resident Ibis that stay here year round. In the fall we can see the flocks of Ibis increasing as we get closer to winter. During the summer months it is common to see small flocks of these birds around our house, maybe 2 to 8 birds to a flock. Now that we are in mid October, our small fl
