   I always do everything that Margaret Rome  tells me to do...our loving and wonderful realtor Gal Pal from Maryland,...She heard that we were treating our sellers to homade dinners for Halloween....and from the "what goes around comes around" school of thought...almost immediately after the dinner delivery route was completed...we got a request for a second showing from some anxious buyers...wooo hoooo !

  It seems that we always have sellers who are single or elderly and don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen when it means cooking for one or two people...seems like too much trouble.  This week we have sellers and a future seller who have just completed hospital stays...and not quite feeling up to a lot of food preparation.

  The weather folks in Wisconsin have forecast extremely high winds for the next 2 days...the utilities are preparing crews for downed power lines, any lawn furniture has been exported from patios and decks to garages and basements...any loose anything anywhere is secured as best it can be.  I got to thinking ...what would it be like if we were the first Realtors on Oz...would the Wizard require a sign and building permit for us to "hang up our shingle?"   Would Scarecrow find his home climate controlled so that the right amount of humidity would keep him healthy rather than … (13 comments)

Ten  Ten TEN....today is our wedding anniversary....it was 18 years ago at 5pm....I came down the balcony stairs of the Grain Exchange, escorted by our ushers to be escorted down the aisle by both my parents.  It was the fairy tale wedding every gal dreams about...from the music and vocals that left no dry eyes...a rendition of "The Rose" that would have met Bette's approval....roses for each guest as they entered and were given their program.      The other night we got a call from a buyer..."I have some questions about your listing at ...." The questions sounded like a mini course from the internet about things you should ask..how old is that...when was the last time that was cleaned, checked, etc.  I answered the questions and offered to get back the buyer with other answers from our sellers. I also told her the house came with a warranty and what kind of coverage that included should there be a problem during the first year of ownership.      Lots of agents and consumers complain that "short sales aren't short"....and the list of "What if's" comes tumbling out of their mouths...what if....the bank doesn't do this, the sellers don't do that, the file gets lost. etc.  The imagined list of reasons for not closing in their lifetime goes on and on...that is not our reality.   One of the  things that can shorten the closing of a short sale is having the BUYER'S lender stay on top of the transaction....as a listing agent we find it necessary to give the selling agent and the buyer's lender frequent reminders of … (10 comments)
