misprepresentation in real estate: Please Call me, I am the Loan Officer for Your Buyer...NOT !

As we have been thru inspection, had loan comittment, arranged our walk thru and closing times/place....we get a phone call that is left on voice Mail: "I am the loan officer or your Buyer, Jack Smith and wanted to introduce myself and discuss the details of the transaction. IF you were the loan officer... i would know it...you are not...and never were. Weeks ago callling about a rate...no application....no home chosen at that point, would not make you a loan officer for this transaction.
