My week started out as any other week, prospecting, negotiating, showing property. Except one little difference: I got my first referral from Active Rain! It was from an agent in Boston who read my Blog and saw that is where I grew up. He felt a comfort level and referred me to his client who was buying a home in San Diego. Good Kharma must have been flowing my way, because an hour later the phone rang: a client had received a mailer I sent 4 years ago, when I was at another company. (I had kept the same phone number.) With property values in San Diego county down by anywhere from 20%-50%, this scenario is the bank's worst nightmare. Imagine the defunct portfolios of mortgages if homeowners decide to give the Lenders a "deed in lieu of foreclosure" and walked away and bought the same house around the corner for 50% less than what they owe! Am I really understanding what you are saying? I had incidences this month when 2 of my clients really shocked me after telling me what they think a real estate agent’s job is. Let me clue you in: I was dumbfounded! One of my clients said he hadn’t rented his home yet because although he had someone showing the place to prospective tenants, he wasn’t there to “pressure” someone into signing a lease, and that is what real estate agents do.
