.....people used to meet face to face. They would go to the local Stone-Age Coffee House, have a cup of Brontosaurus brew or Pterodactyl tea, look each other in the eye and have a conversation! Imagine that! The only communication they had back then was face-to-face. There was no internet, no telephone, no texting.Fast forward to the latter part of the 20th century. Blogs, e-mail, texting, cell phones, Skype----a jazillion ways to "talk" to someone without even having to look them in the eye! Cool!!

This month I had to perform one of the most dreaded parts of my job---looking for contractors and handymen. I typically have a small team, each of them skilled in their own specialty, some easy to work with, and some with personalities like wet cement. (pardon the pun).But when you need skilled trade, you got to take the few without charm and humor (if their rates are reasonable and they show up on time.)

Lakeside is a small town, population about 60,000 reminiscent of the old West. Occasionally you will even see people riding horses on the shores of Lindo Lake, which is a 46 acre park in the center of town. Laid back, and quiet, the backdrop of rugged mountains against a blue sky is almost surreal.
