If there are people in your life that continually disappoint you, break promises, stomp on your dreams, are too judgmental, have different values and don't have your back during difficult times...they are not a friend.

To have a friend, be a friend. Sometimes in life as you grow, your friends will either grow or GO. Surround yourself with people who reflect your values, goals interests and lifestyle.

When I think of any of my successes, I am thankful to GOD from whom all blessings flow, and to my family and friends that enrich my life.

Over the years my phone book has changed because I changed for the better. At first you think you're going to be alone, but after a while new people show up in your life that make your life so much sweeter and easier to endure.

Remember what your elders would say,

"Birds of a feather flock together. If you're an Eagle, don't hang around chickens" . . . why??

Lake Norman Real Estate Analysis - Activity Report 3 Years Back

I compiled data from home and home sales activity from the Carolina Multiple Listing Service for the Month of October 2008, and singled-out area 13 (Lake Norman). Then I organized the data into a crisp graph.

From the data through October 31, we can interpret that There are a total of 1,516 homes on the market. As of December 1, 2008, the total number of homes had increased to 1,676 homes. 444 PRICE CHANGES! It appears that sellers are trying to stay competitively priced since the inventory is so high. Since only 28% of the newly listed homes are selling, then the other 72% of the homes listed each month are staying in inventory. This high inventory gives us a 21 month supply of homes on the market.The trend is inventory is increasing, demand is decreasing, average home prices are going down.

It's really eye-opening to see that only 71 homes sold in the Month of October as compared to years past. The next graph shows the activity for each year and the market is down at least 41% in home sales since 2005.

The Wine Loft is an upscale wine bar offering over 40 selections of wine by the glass and over 100 by the bottle. In addition to the large selection of wines, sparkling wines, and dessert or port wines; they also have a good selection of spirits and light cuisines. The atmosphere is very swanky, upscale, and soothing. The lighting, comfortable couches, and bar seating are perfect for entertaining or hanging out with friends.

I had the lucky “chance” to hang out with “Chanse”, the manager during the Wine Loft’s soft opening week and get to taste some of the food and wines, and to check out the venue for a future meetup place for my wine group www.lknwinegroup.com .

You really need to try the food because what I tried so far was fabulous! I can’t wait to go back and try some more items off the menu. Here is just a sampling of the tasty cuisine they feature:

· Baked Brie En Croute –Vanilla infused honey spiced pecans and & balsamic reduction (THIS TASTES AMAZING!)

· Artisan Cheese Selection –Roasted Garlic, toasted almonds, & quince paste (I highly recommend this too)

· Filet Pistolettes – Maytag blue cheese butter & sweet onion jam

· Proscuitto, Carmalized Onion & Fromage Blanc Pizzetti – with Arugula herb salad

And for desserts:

· Molton Lava Cake – Vanilla infused honey & ice cream Quenelles

· Coffee Crème Brulee –with Vanilla sugar and dark chocolate

YUM!! The bar keep can make some suggestions for you, but if you look on the inside menu, there are some printed with prices with a wonderful description of the flavors and finish tastes.

The bar keeps had a lot of friendly conversation and I found out everyone is new to the Lake Norman area so we had much to talk about. I tasted a glass of Ravenswood Zinfandel Lodi for $8 per glass and also a glass of Stephen Vincent Pinot Noir Sonoma for $10 per glass and both were delicious and fresh.

One of the best kept secrets in Mooresville is a place called the Little Kitchen. If you can find it, then you are in for a wonderful surprise! They serve everything from steaks, to chicken, to fish, to shrimp cocktail, and also have a huge salad bar. The sides and sweet potatoes are pure country cookin'!

This restaurant started in 1969 in the downtown part of Mooresville and has been a staple for the residents since. With the scrumptious salad bar, to the moist and juicy Prime Rib that I had ordered for myself, you are in for a real homemade treat!

Casual Atmosphere with friendly staff. The Little Kitchen is not open on Mondays but IS open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Their secret weapon is the cheese spread and crackers that they bring out before the meal. Yum!

Today, I am going to ask those politically incorrect questions that no one else has dared to ask. I'm going to ask because these questions are at the very core of what is wrong with our economy.

Someone has to ask if we ever hope to have a prayer of getting back on track.

Are the REASONS for all of these foreclosures REALLY valid? Or does the foreclosure epidemic have elements of "jumping on the bandwagon" and "taking advantage of the situation"?

Do you think SOME people are just walking away because the media has imprinted the word foreclosure on their brain so many times that they are brainwashed into thinking it must be the "IN" thing to do?

And the worst question of all: Are some people walking away from their houses because not only is "everyone else is doing it", but because they perceive the financial gain far outweighs the social stigma of losing your house?

Remember when it used to be shameful and embarassing to lose your home?

I will give the politicians this: they have all finally had their "duh!" moment and are "halting" foreclosures. Last week Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac announced they would suspend foreclosures for 16,000 households through January, giving people a chance to negotiate their loans and stay in their house.

This of course assumes they would LIKE to stay in their house. I'm not so sure that this is the case. But more than that, it assumes that all of these people were victims of bad loans. Or, they were victims of a bad economy CAUSED by bad loans. They deserve our sympathy and our tax dollars. Right?

When I talked to literally hundreds of people who were attracted to a restructure program being offered by Bank "W", I found myself cringing as these homeowners revealed the reasons they had stopped making payments, and needed assistance.

Yes, some lost jobs. Yes, some had adjustments on their loans they could not afford.

But what about these reasons which have nothing to do with their ability to make the payments?

"My house has lost so much value and I will never be able to sell it. I decided to just give it back to the bank." (Never mind that part of the reason they owe more than the house is worth is due to a refinance that cashed out all of the equity).

"My whole neighborhood is full of foreclosures, so I want to get out of here." (Great, let's just add another house on the street to the demise of all those other people on the street who ARE making their payments)

"Oh, I can afford my payments. I just want to see what the bank will do. My friend just got their loan adjusted by her bank and now owes $100,000 less." (Never stopping to consider who will pay the bank back for forgiving a hundred grand?)

The whole foreclosure "RESCUE" is being botched. Let me explain it this way:

Inside the barn there are a few sick, thin horses. You don't ever consider WHAT might have made them sick, so you can HALT the SPREAD of the disease. In a panic to save your prize racehorses, you make the fatal mistake.

You treat the symptoms and not the cause. Figuring out the cause is so much harder than just "throwing some hay" at the problem.

Soon, the other horses see how much more hay, and how many more horse biscuits the SICK horses get, and they develop similar symptoms of their own.

Thinking all of the horses are way too sick to run, you come to feed them one day and leave the barn doors wide open. In an instant, the horses stampede out of the barn and are gone.

You have gone broke from buying all that hay, and you STILL don't have any horses! What happened?

Maybe you should have paid more attention to the horses that weren't SICK?

Maybe you shouldn't have REWARDED the horses so generously that were sick?

Maybe paying to diagnose the cause and test all the horses for the disease would have been cheaper in the long run?

There's one thing you know for damn sure: It is WAY TOO LATE to close the barn doors AFTER the horses are out.

I recently had some tasty pizza at Brooklyn South in Cornelius. I usually eat at the Brooklyn Boys in Mooresville, but I was in this part of Lake Norman so I decided to try it.

Pizzarias are owned by the same company. Many times I order the NY slice with pepperoni and extra cheese or the Spaghetti with meat sauce and melted cheese. Sometimes I get the garlic bread with cheese and the Greek Salad, but I WARN you, the salads are HUGE!!! You can feed three to four people on the salad and order a small pizza and be pretty full. The salads are so fresh and the atmosphere is friendly. The Spaghetti can feed two and the fresh baked bread they serve with it is fantastic!

I tried the same NY slice and salad at the Cornelius location and I received the same quality and service as I receive in the Mooresville location. I was pleased and full at the end of my meal!

We try to get up to Brooklyn South whenever we can - food is amazing, atmosphere is great, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. Their pizza is out of this world, just about as close to something you'd find in a pizzeria on a corner in New York City somewhere. Their cannolis and Italian cookies (not sure whether they make them in house or get them from a bakery, but who cares, lol) are AWESOME, we make sure to get some whenever we go. Brooklyn South just catered a large function at our church as well - they were wonderful to work with to get all the details down, and the food was spectacular, we got rave reviews from everyone who attended. Chicken parm, baked ziti, garlic knots, salad, and Italian cookies were served and everyone attacked the food as soon as it got there. All I can say is YUM. Make sure to visit whenever you're in Cornelius!!!!

Pros: Excellent food, good prices, great service

Cons: None that I can think of

Being from the Buffalo area I've had a lot of slices of "Buffalo" pizza in my day, and I am always wary when I see my city in the title of a piece of food. I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pizza. The sauce had a good spice, and the combination of all the ingredients left a very good feeling in my palette. I ordered a side of blue cheese with my pizza for dipping purposes, and I'm happy to report that Brooklyn South Pizza knows what constitutes a good blue cheese, which is surprisingly hard to find in this area. My only complaint with the pizza was the fact that the name said Buffalo WING Pizza, but the meat was in actuality cooked chicken breast. In this day and age everybody know what they are getting when an order is placed for a Buffalo food item, but I feel that if wing is in the title there should be actual wing meat on the pizza, which is a very difficult process. Overall I was very happy with my dining experience, and I have now found a new spot to get good pizza. I give Brooklyn South Pizza a B+ on the Tasteville scale, and I can't wait to try other items on the menu.
