The clock is certainly ticking on this, for all you Santa Clarita First-Time Homebuyers. But don't worry if you can't make the deadline...other opportunities are out there, and will be coming!
To potentially get up-to $18,000 in tax credits allocated for first-time homebuyers, you would need to get into escrow and under contract for a home, by April 30, 2010. Also, you must close that escrow no earlier than May 1, 2010, and no later than June 30, 2010.

The Legislature in California just passed a new $10,000 state income tax credit for first-time homebuyers. All that's needed now is Governor Schwarzenegger's signature on the bill. That's expected to happen.
As of May 1, 2010, first-time homebuyers in Santa Clarita, and those in other areas of California, will be able to claim the up-to $10,000 state tax credit by closing on a brand new construction home or a re-sale home by December 31, 2010.
