Taking a dive into the numbers, today I was interested to find out which of the 6 main areas of Santa Clarita, have the highest percentage of Short Sales.
Based on percentages:
Castaic and Stevenson Ranch have the highest percentage of active short sale listings in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Castaic: 51% of active inventory are short sales
Stevenson Ranch: 51% of active inventory are short sales
One common characteristic however amongst both Castaic and Stevenson Ranch, is that both areas of the Santa Clarita Valley have the lowest number of homes for sale versus all other areas. Castaic only has 61 homes … (0 comments)

I know I made a projection of the amount of short sale listings last week or so, and said that by the end of the year, we should have about 300 short sale listings in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Well, if the last 8 days is any indication of times to come, then my estimation may be blown out of the water by about 200+! Yikes!
Over the last 8 days, the Santa Clarita Valley saw an increase in the Short Sale inventory by 22 new short sale listings. That is huge. Now there are about 177 short sale listings for sale … (0 comments)

Currently in the Santa Clarita real estate market, we stand at about 155 short sale "active" listings. Based on prior levels, and the increase to todays date, I am projecting that by December 2007, there will be closer to 300 Short Sales on the market in Santa Clarita, likely to be in the upper 200's.
The increase will be more pronounced during the fall/winter of 2007 mainly due to the sluggish real estate market, and the fact that fall and winter are historically slow months for real estate sales activity. More than that however, no matter what month it is, owners … (0 comments)
