activerain: Scenes from San Francisco and Beyond - 08/08/07 06:21 PM
The benefit of driving to San Francisco (fortuitous to live so close!) is the liberty of the drive itself. We meandered a bit on the way home to Laguna Beach from Inman's Real Estate Connect, staying through the weekend and managing like all truly "wired" individuals to get some work done on the way. These are some of my memorable pics, with a combination of architecture, real estate, and geography. Picture 1: San Francisco's China Town, with Caleb Mardini of ActiveRain and and Bob Stewart of Brio Realty. What fantastic architecture! Picture 2: Saint Mary's Square on Nob Hill, San Francisco, is

activerain: Groovin' at Inman Connect's "Beer with Bloggers" and Trulia party - 08/04/07 02:22 PM
Zillow's "Beer with Bloggers" at Inman's Real Estate Connect was a great starter to the conference. The beer flowed freely and the attendees got in their groove as the group began melding together. Old friends met up, new friendships took ground, and the evening was on!! Matt, Caleb, and I piled into Rudy Bachraty's RV along with the most superb group of new friends, including the pleasant Diane Cohn and Guy Johnson of Reno Realty Blog (an examplar of a successful blog). Ardell Della Loggia of Rain City Guide and luxury condo realtor Kevin Tomlinson snuggled into the overhead sleeping area (suspended

activerain: You know ActiveRain means too much to you when... - 05/07/07 09:06 AM
You know ActiveRain means too much to you when you've written the perfect post ("Oh, the inspiration!!") and you're feeling so happy with yourself, for once your thoughts just flowed, ("WOW!!! Look at that thing!!!") And then... (gulp) it happens. You hit the spellchecker, and Mozilla Firefox freezes on you, and the blog box goes white, and then.... then... (of course, forgive the wording, it's not exact and for the life of me I hope to never see it enough to get it exact)... a box appears, with a message: "Sorry, Mozilla has experienced a problem and needs to close" ARGGGGGG!!!!!! It all

activerain: New Dashboard, Better than ever!!! - 02/06/07 11:30 PM
The voices of the Rainers have been heard regarding the heartfelt loss of our old dashboard. A new, much more fastidious and heart-warming dashboard format has been engineered, with key upgrades, and will premiere tomorrow morning (Wednesday Feb 7th)! On the top of the blog dashblog page and in line with its true function, the term “Associates” has been replaced with “My Subscriptions”. "My subscriptions" will show those blogs to which you are subscribed. (To bulk-add your current associates' blogs to your subscription list, go to "My Home", click on "Associates", and then click on "Add to Subscriptions".) On the right

activerain: Localism, adapting to new market conditions, and thriving (Part 2) - 01/30/07 12:38 PM
Why Localizing content is the future Others are skeptical, but I am not. I sit speechless in awe of how simple ActiveRain is making it to deliver one's message as an expert in a market area. Over and over again, I found that the number one factor my clients considered in their choice to work with me was my ability to demostrate my expertise to them . This had to do with how much I devoted myself to researching for their ideal homes, how familiar I made myself with the market, and how well I conducted myself ethically and professionally. Localism

activerain: Localism, adapting to new market conditions, and thriving (Part 3) - 01/30/07 12:00 PM
How I feel Localism.com addresses and alleviates my biggest problem with real estateAs mentioned above, Localism.com presents the realtor as the community market expert. My greatest frustration with the real estate field is the great waste of energy and effort in proving my expertise to a potential client. Before the client will often consider working with me, I have to display an inordinate amount of expertise. As the market becomes more and more heavily oriented toward the internet, making oneself known online seems like drowning in the abyss. How can I be differentiated? How can the consumer in my area come

activerain: Localism, adapting to new market conditions, and thriving (Part 1) - 01/30/07 11:56 AM
This three part blog series is in response to Bill Leider's Post: http://activerain.com/blogsview/39377/Relationships-New-Definitions-For Fascinating post! I have to agree with you [Bill Leider] whole heartedly, because it's changing right under our noses! My experience in non-traditional mediums of real estate As a younger realtor, from the moment I entered the field and hit the ground running, I worked almost exclusively with internet-generated buyers (not by choice, but by necessity). I started as a loan officer at age 20 and as an agent at age 23. None of my friends were in the market to buy, and I had few connections. I was consistent
