Are Zestimates Too Low, Too High, Or Just About Right? - 04/30/10 10:54 PM
I know there are various attitudes towards Zestimates. Some think they are too low, some think they are too high, and believe it or not, some of you actually think they are pretty close (and yes, I know what the rest of you think...). However, this post isn't to discuss accuracy (visit this post on Zestimate Accuracy if you'd like more on that). This post is to announce that you can now publish a public comment about the Zestimate on each of your listings. You can select whether you think the Zestimate is too low, high, or about right. Also, there is (17 comments)
Via Spencer Rascoff (Zillow): This post was written by Zillow's Chief Economist, Dr Stan Humphries. It was originally written on Zillow Blog. We got some encouraging news last week about March existing-home sales increasing almost 7% from their levels in February. Unfortunately, a deeper look at the numbers from the National Association of Realtors reveals that inventory of for-sale homes also increased. Despite the higher number of sales, more homes were added to the market in March than were sold. Figure 1 below shows the overall inventory of homes on the market. Yammer: A Different Type Of Social Networking Tool - 04/21/10 09:17 AM
Today I wanted to talk about the social networking tool, Yammer (insert eye roll here and groan "another one..."). But wait, this one is different, it is a PRIVATE network that I think could be very powerful for local real estate offices. Yammer is basically like Twitter where people post information in real time, only who sees the posts are contained to select people. For example, at Zillow we have a Yammer account set up where only Zillow employees can post and see what each other writes. For me personally, it is great because I work remotely and it can be (12 comments)
3 Years Later... Active Rain Comes Back To The Windy City! - 04/12/10 05:43 PM
I remember the first time there was ever an Active Rain gathering in Chicago. It was June 16th, 2007 and about 30 of us got together at Maggianos to celebrate Active Rain turning one. See pictures here! Little did we know that we are just getting our blogging feet wet with something that would grow into one of the largest real estate professionals networks on the web. It's funny to look back at some of my first posts. I didn't have a clue about the power of blogging. Fast forward three years. From a gathering of friends who had never met, to RAINCAMP CHICAGO! Bigger. (26 comments)
Via Spencer Rascoff (Zillow): We're honored and humbled that Steve Jobs just included the Zillow ipad app in his on-stage demo at the Apple OS4 event, during which he showed off ipad apps that he loves. Here's Steve in front of a screenshot of the Zillow app:

Zillow Break 10M Mark! See How This Breaks Down Locally! - 04/08/10 08:24 AM
I am excited to announce that this March Zillow crossed the 10 Million unique monthly user mark, attracting 10.2 Million people! This is great for us nationally, but what does it mean for you locally? Here are traffic counts for the top metros in the US (sorry, to include every city in the US would be a HUGE list). Remember, you can also always see traffic for a particular area by scrolling to the bottom of the Home Info page located on any property. Now that you know the amount of people viewing the site, here is a link to the (16 comments)
Hey Chicagoland Agents! Come Join Me For A Zillow Event On 4/15! - 04/07/10 08:57 AM
We've been holding Zillow educational events across the county that have been very well recieved, and I am excited to announce the next one is in my hometown of Chicago! On Thursday, March 15th, at 9:30 and at 12:30 you can learn all about how you can maximize the tools Zillow has to offer agents. We'll be sure to spend some time talking about the Zestimate, as I know there are plenty of questions about this number. But we will also talk about the fun, marketing side of Zillow. For example, how to maximize your profile to get the most SEO juice (7 comments)
