active rain: RainCamp Washington DC - Be There Whether You Live In The Area Or Not! - 06/04/10 04:28 PM
There are those that live in the Washington DC area, and those that do not. To each of you, RainCamp DC can still be meaningful. Those not in the area: Just because you don't live in the area, doesn't mean you can't partake in the day. Time to leverage the power of Twitter! Go to Twitterfall.com. In the left hand column, in the Searches box, type #raincamp. Now all day long you can see what is being discussed at RainCamp, find people to electronically network with, and engage fellow Campers! Those in the area: Ok, this one is obvious. What are you

active rain: And The Next RainCamp Is...... - 05/27/10 11:08 AM
My first RainCamp was 6 long months ago in New York. When you think about the technology that has evolved since then, it seems like 6 years ago! The iPad was still in prototype. I didn't care about checking in on Foursquare. Security settings on Facebook weren't something I wasn't too concerned about. Mobile apps were really only good on an iPhone, but the Droid changed that. I had just bought my first iFlip cam. I was about 3 lbs thinner, oh wait, that doesn't have anything to do with computers... And the list goes on.... Technology is changing faster than any

active rain: 3 Years Later... Active Rain Comes Back To The Windy City! - 04/12/10 05:43 PM
I remember the first time there was ever an Active Rain gathering in Chicago. It was June 16th, 2007 and about 30 of us got together at Maggianos to celebrate Active Rain turning one. See pictures here! Little did we know that we are just getting our blogging feet wet with something that would grow into one of the largest real estate professionals networks on the web. It's funny to look back at some of my first posts. I didn't have a clue about the power of blogging. Fast forward three years. From a gathering of friends who had never met, to RAINCAMP CHICAGO! Bigger.

active rain: 3 Years Ago I Wrote My First Active Rain Blog Post - 03/22/10 05:42 PM
Who would have guessed that 3 years, 296 posts, 115,056 points, and 5292 comments either received or made later, I would be BLOGGER! Not me! You see, I hated English in school and I don't enjoy writing, it doesn't come easy for me. And as much as I try to proof read my posts before hitting that "publish" button, they are still filled with typos and grammatical errs. In fact, when I started I must say I didn't believe in the power of blogging. I remember meeting David Gibbons at Zillow and hearing that he spent a lot of time responding to blogs and

active rain: Raincamp in Dallas (And On Twitter Everywhere!) - 02/08/10 09:59 AM
I had the privilege of attending RainCamp New York in January. It was a room full of people where you could actually feel the energy in the air. At breaks people were literally buzzing with information they'd just learned. This is on top of the awesome networking opportunity to meet fellow Rainers. Because we were so impressed with the event, Zillow wanted to be involved in a bigger way. I am happy to announce that we will be a sponsor at the Dallas event. (I am unhappy to say that I won't personally be there, but we'll send someone else you'll

active rain: Blogging is a SOCIAL media- keyword SOCIAL - 08/11/08 03:07 PM
I came across an Active Rain network blog the other day of someone who is in a similar line of work as me, working for a major real estate website. Funny, I thought, I haven't heard of this person before nor ever seen their blog. I checked out the blog and found some interesting content and nicely written posts. When I clicked to find out more about this person, turns out they have written 128 posts! So why haven't I heard of this person before? I think the answer lies in "social" aspect of blogging. I have written 138 posts, so

active rain: Recycle Your Active Rain Points On Zillow! - 04/01/08 12:07 PM
This morning Active Rain made the bold announcement that they were doing away with thier point system. The change is going to go into effect late Thursday night/early Friday morning. Now I know that there are many of you who have worked hard to accumulate the points you have, self included. In fact, a number of us wear our point total like a badge of honor. After reading about the new update to the system, I was upset. I had worked hard for those points! I wondered if there was a way to make sure our hard work carried on. Suddenly,

active rain: THANK YOU Active Rain For The Chicago Birthday Party - 06/18/07 08:12 AM
I just wanted to publically post a THANK YOU to Active Rain for making the 1 Year AR Birthday Party in Chicago happen. It was so nice to get together with community members and also meet Matt and Lydia. I won't waste my time writing about the event since there are others (with a lot more points than me) that have already beat me to the punch, so I will simply link to them if you want to read more and see pictures from the event.
