internet advertising: Tips To Improve Success With Craigslist Postings - 10/14/10 10:45 AM
Last week I attended Inman's Agent ReBoot here in Chicago.  One of my favorite presentations came from a company called RentJuice who went through the results of a study  they did on how to effectively post to Craigslist.  Their white paper studied Rental postings, but I imagine the results are applicable to real estate as well.  A lot of their finding flew in the face of what I assumed to be best Craigslist practices!
Click here to read the full report, but here are some teasers:
1. Post rentals on the weekend- Their data shows that if you post on Sunday, … (17 comments)

internet advertising: Reason 1483 Why I Love Facebook - No More Cold Calls - 09/04/09 12:35 PM
We spend a lot of time here on Active Rain, and in social media seminars, talking about how to use Facebook as professionals to be found by new clients.  This week, the shoe was on the other foot for me!
On Monday I hired a Realtor to sell one of my investment properties in Waukee, IA.  My husbandand I reached out to this particular Realtor (I can't remember if it was thru voice mail or email), and the first time I spoke to him, he said "yeah, I saw on Facebook it looks like your husband and I have a mutual friend … (67 comments)

internet advertising: Top Trends from the CAR 2008 Survey of Home Buyers - 04/28/09 11:17 AM
Each year, the California Association of Realtors releases Home Buyer and Sellers Surveys, and each year the surveys are full of interesting stats. This year, the news for Realtors is about as rosy as the economic reports we have grown accustomed to hearing. Here are some key findings in this year's CAR home buyer survey:
Buyers...
Who use the Internet want agents to respond faster (31% expect instant responses). Want to preview more homes (12.7% in 2008 compared to 9.3% in 2007). Are taking longer to make a decision (8.3 weeks in 2008 compared to 5.2 weeks in 2007). And what … (8 comments)

internet advertising: According to CAR, Home Buyers Want Agents To Be Aggressive And Fast - 09/23/08 08:07 PM
The California Association of Realtors recently released their annual Survey of California Home Buyers for 2008 which is once again, full of interesting and useful information.
First off kudos to CAR for changing the name from Survey of Traditional vs. Internet Homebuyers to Survey of CA Home Buyers.  Is there really a difference anymore as searching online for real estate has become pretty ‘traditional'.  Maybe some, but this gap will continue to close quickly.
According to the report, turns out buyers are taking longer to find their dream home, demanding more, and are less satisfied than ever before.  Tough crowd.  To anyone selling … (24 comments)

internet advertising: Imagine Writing Your Next Blog Post While Driving.... Soon You Can! - 06/26/08 02:17 PM
Today Chrysler announced that next year their vehicles will come with the option of becoming a mini wireless Internet hotspot.
So now you can get Internet in your car, Virgin has Ethernet ports on their planes, and I still can't pick up a cell signal in my basement.....but I digress.
The Internet will be a dealer installed option that will work over cellular telephone links. Chrylser's uconnect system can link telephones and personal music players to the car's onboard electronics, so imagine controlling your Apple iPod with radio and steering wheel controls.  It will also includes the company's in-car 30-gigabyte hard … (28 comments)

internet advertising: National vs Local Brokerages - Is One Better Than The Other At Attracting Out Of Town Buyers? - 08/20/07 11:23 AM
Last week I was talking to an Agent who works at a large, well known Chicago Brokerage.  This Brokerage is not a national company, but has an outstanding reputation in Chicagoland.  However the Agent was considering moving his license to another company because he felt like he wasn't able to leverage the Brokerage's name on a national level and attract his transient market.  Over 60% of the people that live in the neighborhood in which he specializes come from out of town and out of state.
When we think about how people are finding Real Estate information, we all know that … (4 comments)

internet advertising: Back In My Day We Had To PAY To Advertise Listings.... - 05/18/07 05:10 PM
And call a travel agent to book a flight.  And look up a phone number in the Yellow Pages when I wanted to order pizza.  Or call the restaurant for directions or to make a reservation.  And when I got a new listing, I immediately called the local newspaper to make sure it got in next Sunday's edition.  Fun to think that these were everyday realities only just a few years ago.
While there is still expense when it comes to marketing a home, today there are so many sites that offer listing exposure without getting your wallet out.
Here are a few … (25 comments)

internet advertising: Choosing My Listing Agent - Sex And The City Style - 05/14/07 02:04 PM
On Sex In The City Carrie was always writing about her most recently escapade with members of the opposite sex.  I always wondered how the men felt about going out with her, knowing that if they did anything out of the ordinary or it ended badly, it would be written up in her next column.
Well, now that there are blogs, anyone can have a "column".  For the last 10 years I have been involved all things real estate internet advertising.  I have consulted agents on how to use the internet to get leads, how to get buyers, where to post … (2 comments)
