This week Active Rain announced they added the "Like" button to blog posts. While this is just plain cool, it is really significant as it allows others to easily talk about your posts on their Facebook walls. listings: Huge Disadvantage When Marketing Properties As 'Do Not Display Address'

The two big reasons I've heard agents market properties this way is 1) a marketing tactic to generate more calls and 2) at a seller's request for privacy or fear of theft. There is now data to support that you will actually get more contacts if you do show the address. Hopefully this data will fuel the seller's desire to get the home sold and overcome their security fears. It was found that properties which DO display receive 6 TIMES the page views that properties that hid the address. Further, properties with the address displayed also recieved 6 TIMES the inquires. listings: Featured Listings on Zillow - Major Change To The Site Starting Today

There are two big product changes on Zillow today. The first is the addition of Rentals to the site, which I blogged about here. We are very excited to now have this functionality available to both Agents and home shoppers. The second change has to do with listings that are manually added to the site, or don't come to Zillow via an automated feed. Roost.com has a free form keyword search on their real estate site that lets people type in what they are looking for to narrow down their home search results. Interestingly, they just released the top 10 things that their users type into this box. I recently had an interesting conversation about posting listings on a blog, or anywhere that consumers have an opportunity to comment, with a Realtor that is very intelligent and web savvy. Seriously, he really gets it - which is why our conversation is going over and over in mind. But I can't bring myself to agree with him. He does not believe in posting listings on blogs.
