nar: NAR's 2009 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers Report Released - 12/01/09 12:03 PM
Last week, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) released its 2009 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, an annual survey about the home buying and selling process. There were over 9,000 respondents from around the US. The report contains tons of detailed information on the demographics, behaviors, experience of consumers in the housing market and some very interesting FSBO data (116 pages worth!). Here are some highlights. If you want more detail, it is definitely worth buying the report, Realtor member pricing is $25 or download for free. The number of first-time buyers increased sharply last year to 47% from 41%. 90%

Todd Carpenter! This was an incredibly smart position for NAR to get on the payroll and an even smarter hiring choice. Not only is Todd very skilled in the area of social media, but he comes to the table with an incredible reputation and following. This will definitely help jump start NAR's reputation in the blog world. On many of the negative posts I have read about NAR, simply having a someone come in as a voice representing the organization could have diverted a lot of the negativity. Each year NAR puts out a report profiles the home buyers and sellers, comprised of responses from more than 10,000 consumers who recently purchased a home. The report is packed full of interesting information and worth reading, but it is long- want some cliff notes? Realtor magazine put together this 10 question quiz: HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW BUYERS AND SELLERS? I am a sucker for quizes, but I thought this one was pretty good. Going to NAR's convention in Vegas and want to learn how to use Excel? No problem, attend the class on how to use Excel. Need to learn more about how to market luxury properties? No worries, there was a class on that too. You hear a lot about this thing called Web 2.0 and want to know more about it? Take your pick from the three or four classes on this topic.
