Early Saturday morning, my son Scott and I drove out to Siesta Key Beach to see sand sculptures created by teams of master sand sculptors. World-famous Siesta Key Beach hosted the event, and Mote Marine Laboratory's sea turtle conservation and research program received the proceeds. Scott and I wandered around the barricades as we were too early to get through the gates, but we didn't miss anything!
