It's Time for the Big Game! - 01/31/09 09:35 AM
Tomorrow is Super Bowl Day!
Our favorite football quotes are from Andy Griffith"s 1953 recording "What It Was Was Football!".  Andy enjoyed his "big orange drink" while watching a game with "these purty girls a-wearin" these little-bitty short dresses, and a-dancin" around."   He humorously tells how he wondered what was going on with people sitting on two sides of the field looking at a cow pasture with two convicts running up and down the field!  And all this time, these guys were playing with a funny little pumpkin!
Many of our greatest sports humorists have been famous college football coaches and players.  … (5 comments)

Whose world is this? - 01/26/09 01:31 PM

. . . the world of the past to protect, the world of the present to use, or the world of the future to preserve?
This photo was taken at an orphanage in Serdan, Mexico (state of Puebla - in Central Mexico).

Do You Have a Passion for Innovation? - 01/23/09 09:24 AM

What are the keys to REALTOR® success for 2009!  Have you considered that your success will depend on your passion for innovation?
Many people believe that innovation and creativity are inherent skills; however, we propose that the skills that will lead to success in our real estate business in 2009 will be the products of education.  Those who are successful will learn new skills and technologies that will give them the edge over those who sit by the phone waiting for it to ring!  They will learn how the technologies and current trends in the business will lead to better service for clients and … (4 comments)

Did you see that flake? Is it snnnnnow? Surely not! - 01/20/09 08:21 AM
Did you see that flake?  Surely - We can't be saying it - not the  ‘s' word -  in McCormick, South Carolina!  But yes, there it was this morning - for all to see - right on front of our house. It must have gotten lost to end up here in McCormick!
There's the often told story that a traveler from ‘up north' was looking for a new home to get away from the snow and ice of Michigan.  So he traveled south.  In every town, he would stop at the local hardware store and ask to purchase a snow shovel.  When he … (7 comments)

Oh My Darlin' Clementine - 01/19/09 06:31 AM
There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. - Ben O. Williams
Earlier this week, we posted pictures of the lab puppy we adopted with a request for help naming her!  We loved all the names that you contributed but as we got to know her personality, she just seemed like a ‘Darlin' Clementine'!
So . . . her name is Clementine as in the old song ‘Oh My Darlin' Clementine'!  Big name for a little pup, huh?  Our little Clementine will be Clem or Clemmy for short!  She already knows her name!
Thanks everyone for … (9 comments)

Help! We're fostering a new puppy with no name! - 01/13/09 07:03 PM
Today, very unexpectedly, we had the opportunity to foster a 6 week old lab puppy.  Who could resist?  She has had a tough life and she has no name!  This is the sweetest little pup we've seen in a long time but we have no idea what to call her!  It was so quick - we didn't have the time to think about it!  I hate to call her "Hey you"!  Take a look at her and tell us what you think!  By the way, she's a keeper!

Are You Thirsty? - 01/10/09 12:48 PM
When you've been in the car all day showing property, how many times have you asked your buyers if they want to take a break for a bottle of icy cold water?  We're all trying to drink more water these days and folks get terribly thirsty when looking at property!  Treat your customers or clients to an icy bottle of water - They love it!
Instead of running into the nearest convenience store and buying a couple of bottles, why not open the trunk of your car and get everyone a cold bottle of spring water out of your cooler.  Everyone loves it!

What do we have to say about ourselves? - 01/05/09 08:38 AM

Helen Keller was a remarkable person, who, in spite of her limitations of being deaf and blind from early childhood, lived a life of positive thoughts and actions.  Here's what she said about herself:
"I seldom think about my limitations, and they never make me sad.  Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times; but it is vague, like a breeze among flowers."
Treasury of Women's Quotations
Compiled/edited by Carolyn Warner

Be a 'Chief Firestarter' in 2009! - 01/01/09 03:23 PM

"I know that 2009 will have its share of new crossroads and rough times, but tonight at midnight, I am putting as much of the "stuff" of 2008 into boxes and bags and into a bonfire they are going. Tomorrow, I ask you to join me--change your title to "Chief Firestarter" in your life, in the lives of your family and friends, your businesses, and in our world. We can be the difference in 2009."

Thanks ActiveRain! - 01/01/09 02:09 PM
Since we joined this great network, we've read quite a few blogs about online contacts and communication.   We wondered if anything like that would ever happen to us.
And all of a sudden, it did!

The first contact was when Mary received an email from a REALTOR® who grew up across the street from her in Clemson, SC.  That communication would never have happened without a comment about Clemson made on AR!  Then it wasn't too long before we had the opportunity to make a referral for a friend's daughter looking for property in upstate South Carolina.  Rather than using one … (3 comments)
