When It Rains, It Pours - 08/29/08 11:04 AM
It seems when it rains, it pours. We had a relatively calm first part of the week. The only problem was tying up a few loose ends on a closing that was suppose to have happened on Thursday. Unfortunately, it didn't and that has made Friday a day that is beyond hectic. We are still working on the closing. When the loan package arrived at the attorney, it had some mistakes, so had to be re-done. The closing that was supposed to have been at ten still hasn't happened and we both have appointments to show property this afternoon at one … (0 comments)

Staying in Shape - 08/28/08 02:13 PM
Every morning when the alarm clock goes off at 5:15AM, we are tempted to cut it off and go back to sleep, however most of the time, we manage to drag ourselves up and head out to the gym. As much as we hate going, we always feel better afterwards. As real estate agents here in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, it pays off when we have to show property in walk-up buildings. Today, with a heat index of over 100 Degrees, we are showing condos on the third floor of raised beach condos. This means three full flights of stairs, … (0 comments)

North Myrtle beach, SC Beach Renourishment - 08/25/08 01:40 PM
Beach re-nourishment has begun here in the North Myrtle Beach area. They are going to pump 750,000 cubic yards of sand over 8.6 miles of beaches here. They started in Cherry Grove and are moving south at approximately 800 feet per day. . All of the work should be completed by early next year so our beaches should be in good shape for next Summer. Even with all the work, only a small section of the beach is closed at a time. We have some of the widest beaches in the area already and this should only make them better.
There … (0 comments)

Raining in Paradise - 08/22/08 09:39 AM
It's raining in Paradise. Although Tropical Storm Fay is a long way from us, we are getting bands of rain from it. This is a good thing as we are still fairly dry, not in a drought like much of the state, but dry none the less. It makes it really difficult for all the vacationers here though. I am sure they would prefer a day without the rain. Most of them hit the malls when it rains. Highway 17 becomes a parking lot, but who would want to sit in your room all day. Most of the newer buildings have … (1 comments)

Clueless - 08/18/08 01:30 PM
Don't you love working with clients who haven't a clue? They want everything in a home, including a large lot and a pool and all of this close to the beach. The house must be an oh wow, large, new and oh by the way, reasonably priced. After explaining many times, that land on the coast is at a premium and thus the majority of the lots are going to be small, we are still searching for that perfect home on the large lot. This has been going on for a year or more. I think when we find it, it … (0 comments)

Feast or Famine - 08/14/08 10:27 AM
It seems that real estate is either feast or famine. We had a great June and then July came along and absolutely nothing. We had very few phone calls, emails and hits on our web site. I don't think, we could have given away a property. Now, that it's August, we got three accepted contracts and several more that are almost there. Plus, we have clients coming to the beach to buy and our listings are being shown. Sometimes we feel rich and other times like paupers. Does it work this way for everyone or are we missing something?

Adopting a Pet - 08/13/08 01:04 PM
I have always loved cats, but not so my husband. We have had several over the years of our marriage, all mine. I convinced him to adopt a cat earlier this year. After looking at all the cats, there was a calico (Cali) that we decided to adopt. All the way home, this cat meowed. By the time we arrived at the house we were almost ready to return her, except, we figured she would meow all the way back. We get into the house and let her out and she promptly checks out all the rooms. Then my husband sat … (1 comments)

Good Ending - 08/10/08 09:37 AM
Our clients that lost out on the short sale just got an accepted contract on another unit in the same building for less money than the short sale would have been. Best of all, there's no waiting for weeks for an answer. They can go to the bank on Monday and we can have this one closed in a few weeks. This condo is in better shape than the short sale was, so they have nothing to do but rnjoy. After all this time (seven months), I am totally surprised they stuck with us. We worked hard on the short sale … (0 comments)

Maybe Tomorrow - 08/07/08 12:18 PM
Don't you just love people that express a lot of interest in a property and then just drop off the map? Recently, we showed this couple a condo and they seemed to love it. After talking for awhile, they were going to talk about it and come back to make the offer. Of course, they never showed up and numerous attempts to contact them were unsuccessful. So we moved on and wrote them off. This week, out of the blue, here they are again. Luckily the condo is still available and this time, they have just sold property and want to … (0 comments)

Short Sale Disaster - 08/05/08 03:54 PM

Our clients made an offer on a "Short Sale" on January 2nd of this year. They have waited patiently ( most of the time) for seven months. Their offer has had to be modified at least five times and each time was more money. Finally, today, after all this time, the listing agent calls with the news that the bank would not forgive the entire amount of the loan, even though, supposedly, the agent talked with the bank and got the bottom dollar, they were willing to accept. when the property was listed. The seller refuses to sign a promissory … (0 comments)
