Beginning on September 1, 2008 the Maui County Parks and Recreation Department is revoking commercial ocean recreation permits at Makena Landing and at Maluaka north and south beach parks. Makena Landing is a popular Kayak launching spot that is very active in the mornings. Up to 18 dive and kayak companies have launched their tours from here for years.
