A few weeks ago the Inland Northwest was hit with several days of snows followed by an unseasonably warm period that brought below freezing day time temperatures to around 50 degrees F.  This lead to a faster than usual melt off and even some flooding higher up stream in Idaho. Just as the saying "what goes up must come down" so it is with water always flows downhill.  The dams are letting extra water out now to accommodate incoming flow higher up...

Earlier in the Week the water level began it's rise...

Mortgage Rates Jump to 6-Month High Mortgage rates rose for a fourth-straight week to reach a six-month high as yields on government bonds continue to rise. The average interest on a 30-year fixed loan hit 4.61 percent, up from 4.46 percent a week ago, Freddie Mac reported. Also, 15-year fixed loans averaged 3.96 percent, up from 3.81 percent last week; and rates for variable adjustable-rate mortgages floated higher as well.Source: Los Angeles Times, E. Read Rating:  Excellent (out of: Good, Great, Excellent)  Pages:  Under 200.  Excellent writing, Easy to follow, Informative, explains points very well, provides solutions, excellent citations of sources...Well worth the money!
Overview:
While many people place blame for the economic meltdown solely at the feet of Wall Street firms and executives, Robert Reich shows in his analysis a more complex and structural reason for the crisis.

It's taking shape and work is being done this morning on the South Bound Lanes...

For those who have lived in the Spokane area for decades the idea is finally becoming a reality!

Right now, however, only about a 3 1/2 mile stretch is completed, and only the Northbound lanes which currently are being shared by vehicles traveling both directions.  Speed limit is 60 mph. so even this small stretch is useful for those wishing to shave some time off of the trip from one side of town to the other...

spokane houses for sale: Beautiful Sunrise at Mount Spokane! - 10/15/10 01:38 PM
One of the things I've always wanted to do is see the sunrise at Mount Spokane so this morning I left the house around 5:30 and headed up the mountain.  Gradually the sky got brighter and brighter...I stress "gradually" because the wind was blowing and at 37 degrees F. it was a little chilly standing outside waiting for the sun to peak out above the distant clouds, but it did finally and here's the picture I snapped:
