On a recent visit to City Hall in Brooksville, Florida, I was delighted to discover this little free library.
Not a library in traditional sense, it works as a book exchange between people who like to share their books. The idea is to take a book and leave a book or take a book, read it and return it. Or if you so desire, just leave a book for others to enjoy.

What's being Dug up at Chinsegut Hill in Brooksville, Florida?
Today was Archaeology Day at Chinsegut Hill in Brooksville, Florida and this was another great opportunity to visit this great historical site with it's beautiful Antebellum mansion.
The Chinsegut Hill mansion and its auxiliary buildings have been under restoration for several months now and it was good to see the work progressing in restoring this historical home to it's former glory.

Video - Veterans Parade 2013 - Brooksville, Florida
The annual Veterans Appreciation Parade took place Saturday in Brooksville, Florida. Several of the local veterans' groups participated in the event as well as the ROTC groups of our local High Schools and the High School bands. It was a sunny day and the spectators appreciated a nice parade honoring our veterans.

The annual Hernando County Fair is in its 62nd year this year and again promises days of fun for the whole family. Some of the events include the horticultural show and the demolition derby. One of my favorites is the Youth Livestock Shows, I just enjoy watching children and youth show the animals that they have raised.

The Greek Festival began yesterday at the Fairgrounds in Brooksville, Florida. We went out in the evening and had a very enjoyable time with good company and good food while enjoying the performances by "Shazadi" & the Jewels of the Desert Dance Troupe.

Today is the third of Advent which should be a time of joyful anticipation of the upcoming Christmas celebrations.
With last week's incomprehensible events in Connecticut, this joy seems to have been taken away from us.
But it also gives us pause from the hectic activities we engage in during the holiday season.

The Hernando County Fine Arts Council presents the 28th Annual Art in the Park event this weekend, March 10th through March 11th. Gates open at 10 AM and close at 5 PM on Saturday and 4 PM on Sunday.
Art in the Park is a popular event that includes juried fine art, arts and crafts, and student exhibits.
This year, a poetry contest is added. Food vendors are available and there will be entertainment throughout the two days of the event.
