RC Outlaws invade Las Vegas! Take over at Sunset Park Lake Forces Residents to Move! Pictures! - 10/27/08 04:34 AM
The Outlaws came into town on Thursday, setting up camp at the lake in Sunset Park. Residents of the area were forced to move, and staying out of their way was a good idea. There was little to stop this fast moving crowd once they got going.
These are the Outlaws of radio-controlled gas powered boats, and many of the sponsered racers were on hand. These are the serious in the sport, bringing in their trailers and lighting for the 4 day event. When these boats opened up they really flew, and the 'rooster tails' of water they produced gave you an … (7 comments)

Hawaiian Las Vegas - Lake Las Vegas Outrigger Canoe Races and Festival - Photo Tour - 10/27/08 02:33 AM
The Las Vegas Hawaiians are at it again! Spreading their cultural heritage around their Ninth Island, called Las Vegas. This time it was the 7th Annual Hawaiian Isle Festival and Outrigger Canoe Races held at MonteLago Village in Lake Las Vegas. It is a 2 day event with quite a number of teams competing in the races.
Then of course you have a variety of Pacific Island entertainers performing on the floating stage at the edge of the lake, with everything from music and dance to martial arts. Around the village streets there were tents offering up island delicacies to both … (6 comments)

Las Vegas Home - 'First to the Future'- NextGen Experience Demonstration Home - 10/22/08 04:09 AM
NextGen Demonstration Homes have been around trade shows since 2003, offering industry professionals and home buyers a chance to see, touch, and feel the latest technology available in home construction. In the past they had been built on-site in a matter of weeks, limiting them to those time constraints and space availability of the exhibit hall. That is all changing for the first time, and it's taking shape right now in Las Vegas.

The 5200 square foot NextGen home is well underway and scheduled for completion in December, in time for the International Builders' Show, the Consumer Electronics Show, … (4 comments)

Las Vegas Strip Construction - The Disaster and Fear of 2008! - 10/22/08 02:45 AM
There's even more of it in the media these days, the gloom and doom of Las Vegas. Any cancelled or delayed Las Vegas Strip project making big headlines. I even had a post comment the other day referring to the awful mess of the Echelon project being put on hold, and while not on the Strip, Lake Las Vegas operating in Chapter 11. Without a doubt these aren't the best of times and a recovery from the financial meltdown still needed. But is this really disaster, or looking at Las Vegas only with a 'glass half-full' perspective guided by these negative … (7 comments)

Aviation Nation 2008 - Las Vegas - Nellis AFB Air Show - 10/20/08 02:16 AM
With their training flights our hometown Nellis men and women in-blue put on an 'airshow' for Las Vegas locals nearly every day of the year. In addition to that, several times a year you'll see military aircraft from around the world in town to participate in aerial combat training called Red Flag, held in the Nellis Range to the north of the valley. It's not even unusual to see the occasional military aircraft coming into McCarran to 'shoot approaches' (a term from my DH and son's pilot-speak), and for the maintenance and upgrade facilities on the west side of the field. … (5 comments)

Terry Fator - America's Got Talent in Las Vegas - Jerry Springer, Neal E. Boyd & Top Finalists Visit - 10/16/08 04:27 AM
Tonight I caught Terry Fator's sold out show at the Las Vegas Hilton, and it's no wonder why it was packed. Terry was last year's million dollar winner of 'America's Got Talent', and if you caught him performing there, you can just imagine how amazing his live show really is. Backed by an excellent band, Terry performs nonstop with a very smooth blend of his unique ventriloquism, not only with incredible singing impressions, but his own genuine personality and flair for comedy. He is truly a unique and enjoyable performer.

His down to earth style connects well with the audience, … (4 comments)

Las Vegas Real Estate Agent tells Home Buyers to take a HIKE! - 10/13/08 03:00 AM
Hike, bike, or ride, that's easy to do here in the Las Vegas Valley, and Henderson has plenty to offer and more planned for the future. Henderson won the 2008 Las Vegas Review Journal's 'Best Place to Ride a Bike' in it's 'Best of Las Vegas' awards this year. This Saturday, October 18, from 9 AM - 2 PM at the Events Plaza on Water St., they're having their National Trails Day Celebration with speakers, information, and vendors of trail supplies on hand.
The trail system is part of Henderson's Parks and Recreation, and there are several trails to chose from. The … (6 comments)

Las Vegas REALTOR® reveals secrets of home marketing! Agent participation encouraged! - 10/09/08 08:12 PM
From the number of calls and emails from clients about home listings, these must be the secrets of real estate marketing! While not all listings have this 'magic' there seems to be a number of them as more homes are available. They're secret because clients inquire to as "What the HECK is this", or to share a laugh. While they do catch your attention, I've found my clients typically pass on them with the selection of homes on the market today. I'd add it's not limited to lower priced homes or bank owned, I see it happening with resales and those … (17 comments)

$700 Billion Bailout - Boom or Bust - Downpayment Assistance HR 6694 - 10/07/08 07:04 PM
I think it's safe to say that no one really wanted the $700 billion bailout. Unfortunately something had to be done as the credit cash-flow spigot was down to a drip. Even those with good credit were beginning to have difficulty getting funding of today's tighter standards approved loans. Not only in our own industry, but just about anywhere, a 700+ credit score was no longer good enough. For business, equity credit lines were being shut off and large business commercial paper unable to find takers. These short term business loans are how they keep the doors open, pay the bills … (11 comments)

Henderson, NV - 2008 Playful City USA - 10/05/08 05:10 AM
When you think of 'Play' and the Las Vegas Valley, many will only think of casinos. Well there is more to life beyond the Strip, and Henderson offers an incredible amount of recreation for residents. That's why it's no surprise it was one of 67 that made the 2008 list of Playful City USA, from the many that applied. This is a project of KaBoom, that wants to create great places for children to play within walking distance from their homes, across the entire USA.

This was a perfect fit for Henderson, since they had much of the organizations … (0 comments)

Las Vegas Open House - Dr. Lonnie Hammargren Nevada Day 2008 - Hammargren for President! - 10/02/08 04:41 AM
I just got word tonight from Dr. Lonnie Hammargren, former Nevada Lt. Governor, famous retired neurosurgeon of the stars, Vietnam combat veteran, NASA Apollo Moon Mission flight surgeon, Archeoastronomer, Knighted for charity work five times: Greece, Italy, London, Russia, Malta, Honorary Consul to Belize, musician, and....well I could go on and on with a laundry list of his accomplishments. There's also something else that Lonnie has done that many Las Vegans know him for...his eclectic collection of all things Las Vegas, Nevada, space, science, art, and just about anything else that catches his eye.
Lonnie opens his doors to the public on … (8 comments)

Donny & Marie - Flamingo Las Vegas New Home for Osmonds - 10/01/08 04:07 AM
The last few days have been hectic with me having so many people in town, but tonight I had a chance for a quick escape at a new show. Donny and Marie Osmond have opened at the Flamingo Hilton, and after seeing tonight's performance it's no wonder they were sold out on a Tuesday night. They were absolutely fantastic, performing an energetic and entertaining show, and were in touch with their audience with their down to earth appeal. It's no surprise that they received two standing ovations for the performance that covered both of their long careers. As you can see … (17 comments)
