Halloween Safety Tips For Homeowners Handing Out Candy - 10/31/11 11:02 AM
Trick-or-treaters will be out in full force and it’s best to plan ahead to keep everyone safe when they visit your home.

·         Clear yard of anything that can trip the young ghouls and goblins
·         Put pets away to protect them from cars or inadvertently biting a trick-or-treater
·         Use battery-powered, jack-o’-lantern candles
·         Turn outside lights on
·         If you do use candles, place them well away from trick-or-treaters and yard decorations
·         If you don’t want to hand out candy, healthy food alternatives for trick-or-treaters include: packages of cheese or peanut  butter crackers, single-serve boxes … (0 comments)

Washington International Horse Show - 10/26/11 10:18 AM
The Washington International Horse Show is one of my favorite events in DC. It runs from October 25 to October 30th this year. You don’t have to be an equestrian to appreciate this event. Anyone that likes a face paced, competitive atmosphere will enjoy the International Horse Show. The athleticism of the animals is mesmerizing.

Approximately 500 horses compete from the U.S. and around the world for over $400,000 in prize money and championship titles. We’re talking the best of the best in equine competition.

Tentative Schedule:
Tuesday: WIHS Children's & Adult Hunter Championships Wednesday: WIHS Adult Jumper … (0 comments)

Markoff's Haunted Forest - 10/20/11 05:29 PM
Markoff’s Haunted Forest is located in Dickerson, Maryland and is the place to go in the DC Metro area if you’re looking for a scare. I won’t go into details as I don’t want to ruin the surprise but, I’ve never been so scared at any Halloween related forest, house, or field in my life. I strongly recommend lacing your Nike’s extra tight before you go in!

Lock Your Pets Up! - 10/18/11 05:48 PM
I’ve seen quite a few posts regarding seller’s and their pets and want to share my most recent encounter.

It started out very normal, I called the owners to set the appointment for my buyers and I to come tour the house – I saw on the listing, “call first pet” so I asked if the animal would be locked up. “Oh yes, said the owner. We have a small dog and he will be in his crate in the laundry room.”  We arrived to the house right on time and I accessed the lockbox and opened the door. … (4 comments)

Urban Halo Salon in Arlington, Virginia - 10/17/11 01:19 PM
Urban Halo is located on Clarendon Boulevard in Arlington, Virginia. I visit the salon every month to have my eyebrows waxed. The salon is clean and well organized with a very friendly staff. Parking is free if you park a few blocks away off of Fillmore in the retail parking garage or if you want to be closer meter parking is typically available. There are plenty of places much closer to my house but, I would travel almost anywhere that Gina Kirchert works. Gina and I met when she signed up on my website a few years ago and I helped her … (0 comments)

Holiday Travel - 10/14/11 12:50 PM
Many families travel during the holidays. Whether it is to get away from the winter blues or to visit other family members for Thanksgiving and Christmas airports and highways are busy during November and December. If you’re leaving your home for several days don’t forget to make arrangements to keep your house safe.

1.   Ideally you will leave a key with someone you trust. Preferably a neighbor or someone that lives close by so that they can check on your home while you’re gone.
2.   Hold the newspaper and mail for the timeframe that you’re gone or have … (0 comments)

Bridging The Gap Between Buyer Dreams and Seller Reality in Northern Virginia - 10/12/11 09:54 AM
The Northern, Virginia area is presenting a challenge to agents; it’s not the “down in the dumps” market the news likes to report on and it creates a challenge for Realtors in this area daily.

I think the national news does a disservice overall in their reporting of real estate because their blanket approach doesn’t help anyone – no two markets are exactly the same and the broad areas they choose to report on make for an extremely inaccurate portrayal of what reality is.

I work with a lot of buyers and in this area sellers aren’t giving their homes … (4 comments)

I Got The Listing Because…I Didn’t Discriminate - 10/04/11 05:50 PM
There’s a lot of reasons I’ve earned listings in the past, most revolve around my track record and wonderful seller’s that speak about it or even my ability to stage a house and market to the right people but, never have I been “the chosen one” because of the dog.
My clients waited to tell me this story until after we went to closing – I remember the listing presentation. I was a little nervous when they contacted me to come because they said I would be the fourth agent to come see the house and they just hadn’t found … (9 comments)
