November 6, 2011 - Don't Forget to "Fall Back"! - 10/31/11 07:41 PM
Ever notice that when you put a pot of flowers in the window this time of year, the next time you look, there's a blank hole starring back? The flowers have all decided to move towards the window, to soak up all the sunlight. Well, this is kinda the premise for Daylight Savings Time.
Benjamin Franklin thought of this grand idea to move our clocks forward in April and back in November. This way we would have more time to work or play in the day light.
In order for us to know what we're doing on this day, we have … (16 comments)

Harness Social Media in an Online Newsletter - 10/27/11 04:30 PM
I've said this before and I'll say it again.  Social media can be a great tool in a real estate professional's arsenal.  When used correctly, Facebook is more than a way to catch up with old friends or stay in touch with distant relatives (which is nice) and Twitter has become so mainstream that it has been the "go-to" source for late-breaking news at legitimate news outlets.  How would you like to harness social media in an online newsletter quickly and easily?  Paper.li is just the site for you!

The key to search engine optimization is creating fresh content on a … (6 comments)

Halloween? Wasn't it Just Summer? - 10/24/11 01:03 PM
Wow, one thing about life is, it goes on. Not a very profound statement, but you know what I mean. So, while thinking of time flying by, I decided to check into the history of Halloween. You know, the nuts and bolts of this "demonic" holiday. I found some not so scary, but rather interesting, background on it. For instance, did you know this?: Here are a couple websites I found for great tips and creative ideas on Halloween parties and more, enjoy: Family Fun - Halloween Halloween Recipes And as always, we would like to share some of our recipes … (6 comments)

October 23, 2011 - National Mother-in-Law Day - 10/23/11 04:06 PM
Mother’s Day is in May. So if you forgot your Mother-In-Law, here’s another chance to honor her. I can’t resist the chance to poke fun. Being a Mother-In-Law, please let me indulge myself. Maybe we aren’t always praised or appreciated as much as we think we should be and sometimes feel forgotten. Maybe we should think of ourselves as martyrs. Or better still, what about fruit? Let’s take a look and see what kind of Mother-in-Law you think you are or what kind of fruit best describes your Mother-in-Law.
Are you as sweet as a peach? How about a tart apple? … (2 comments)

October 22, 2011 - Today is National Nut Day! - 10/22/11 05:17 PM
In some sort of capacity, this day suits me. I can be a little nutty, I have gone nuts and I truly love to snack on nuts!! Do Corn Nuts count?? So I feel honored to have a day to celebrate a big part of my personality and those crazy nuts I can't seem to put down and walk away from. To my surprise, I found a couple of websites that were very resourceful. www.recipegoldmine.com has a zillion nut recipes. And http://donteatdirt.com/nutty-health-facts has anything and everything you would ever need to know about the nutritional value of each and every nut. … (4 comments)

October 21, 2011 - National Cheesecake Day - 10/21/11 12:34 PM
Apparently there is no documentation to back up the fact that this is a “National” holiday.  One would only have to assume that it was merely an over-sight, hiccup or the system could be flawed.   Maybe this should be another debate for the “Occupy” group??
Any way we look at it, it’s a holiday worth celebrating!!  After all, it is Fall and, of course, we have plenty of pumpkins to consume…
There’s something so irresistible about cheesecake.  It’s rich, creamy and the way it smooths over your tongue and down your throat is, dare I say, ”R” Rated…

What I Won't Be Posting on Facebook - 10/20/11 04:45 PM
Social media has become commonplace in today's tech-savvy culture.  I just read recently that even regular featured phones are predicted to go the way of the do-do bird in the next 10 years thanks to the portability, availability and user-friendliness of the smartphone.  Places like Facebook and Twitter can be used to stay in touch with long-distance family and friends, promote your real estate business, find long lost high school buddies or to keep up with your favorite TV shows, personalities and brands you love.
The down side of all this "sharing" is that some people tend to "overshare".  While the words you write … (4 comments)

October 20, 2011 – It’s National Brandied Fruit Day! - 10/20/11 12:56 PM
Brandied Fruit??  Wow, makes me think of Fruit Cake, and I’m not a big fan of dried fruit anyway…
But, then I thought…  Well yes, of course, it could be cause for celebration.  WOW!   I’m sure I would enjoy coming up with some brandy recipes on a cold evening, wearing my Snuggy blanket!!
Who came up with this day anyway??  A hand full of tipsy cooks who proclaimed, “I will make the best brandied fruit ever!!  Hmmmm, I still think it’s missing something”…?
Whoever or however this day originated, I’m sure it was blissful.  So, enjoy today with family and friends.  And who knows?  Maybe you will … (2 comments)

October 19, 2011 - Today is Evaluate Your Life Day! - 10/19/11 12:20 PM
Today is Evaluate Your Life Day! Not as scary as you might think…
A day to clear  some cobwebs from the brain, time to check your pulse.  A great opportunity to pause and reflect on your life.  Time to find out what your likes and dislikes are…

What’s bothering you?  Is it negative influences?  Your appearance?  Time to lose some weight?

I’ve come upon some days when I catch myself being stagnated.  And yes, I always want to lose weight.  So this special day is one  I was happy to find and embrace with enthusiasm.

And it’s in … (6 comments)

Five Essential Twitter Tools - 10/13/11 04:30 PM
Unless you have been living under a rock...in the middle of Siberia...by yourself, you are well aware of Twitter.  Many commercials show a "follow me @" somewhere in their 15-30 second spots.  Entertainment shows feature segments on celebrity tweets.  Even legitimate news outlets feature news stories broke via Twitter.  As a business person, it's crazy not to consider using Twitter to enhance your real estate business.  But, as your followers and list of people you follow grows, it can be difficult to manage all the information.  So, I've done the research for you and found five essential Twitter tools that you absolutely must have to manage … (24 comments)

Think Pink - It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month - 10/10/11 03:20 PM
One day I turned the news on, and watched the coverage of "The Race for the Cure." where all participants raised money for Breast Cancer research. If you've never been to a race... it's a very powerful experience. When you are surrounded by thousands of cancer survivors and supporters, you realize all your daily problems are insignificant. It will put your life in prospective. My sister and I lost our Mom to Breast Cancer 25 years ago.Susan G. Komen is synonymous with The Race for the Cure. But who is Susan G. Komen? She was born 1943 and diagnosed with breast cancer … (4 comments)

You Can't Get a Gourmet Meal at a Happy Meal Price - 10/06/11 04:43 PM
Everybody is trying to save money wherever they can nowadays.  Eat out less, rent a movie, clip coupons...it all makes good dollars and sense, right?  There is, however, a dollar vs quality aspect that some people lose sight of.  I mean, you wouldn't go to a five star restaurant and expect to pay a Happy Meal price, would you?
Like you, I am all about saving money wherever I can.  Some things, however, are well worth the price.  For example, Tide may be more expensive than Dreft, but I use less of it to get my clothes cleaner.  It averages out … (6 comments)
