Famous Quote - 08/29/07 11:06 AM
I found this quote while surfing the web.
"You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. "
---James D. Miles
Makes one think. How do you treat someone who can do nothing for you? I like that Coke commercial where one person aids another and another person sees the act, that person then helps someone and onther person sees it, and so forth. In the end the one who assisted the first one is helped. Things do come to full circle. Make the most out of it.

Home Prices: Steepest Drop in 20 Years - 08/28/07 10:13 AM
U.S. home prices fell 3.2 percent in the second quarter, the steepest rate of decline since Standard & Poor's began its nationwide housing index in 1987, the research group said Tuesday.
The report came a day after the National Association of Realtors said sales of existing homes dropped for a fifth straight month in July while the number of unsold homes shot up to a record level.
However, I did hear on the news that some hedge funds are looking to buy mortgages. However, they also are waiting for it to dip lower than it currently is...
Looks like the ride is far from over. … (3 comments)

Email and the art of spamming Part 1- out of the office option - 08/27/07 08:37 AM
For many of us (with a company email service such as exchange server), the out of the office option is a way to automatically respond to an incomming email that you are currently unavailable but will respond as soon as you are able to. You might be on vacation, taking a class for the day, your internet service is down, etc.
When you finally end up looking at your email, you get a lot of undelivery error messages that you can't understand and don't even know how to begin to understand it.
These nondelivery reports can tell you quite a bit of information … (3 comments)

when was the last time you backed up your pc? - 08/20/07 08:51 PM

I am often amazed when people discovered that they can't access their machine because their hard drive crashed.
"What do you mean crashed? Why did my hard drive fail?" The sad thing is that a hard drive is man made and like all things, they will eventually fail. The more movable parts, the more areas that can fail.
Each device had what is called "Service life", which means that once that time line has been reach, the probability of it failing will become very great, the longer the time after that date, the closer it reaches the 100% failure.

Looks like Skype is pretty much back for everyone after the two-day outage that began last Thursday, and now the VoIP provider says it's fingered the cause: a Windows update, and the tidal wave of reboots that ensued.According to Skype's system status site, the failure (which affected Skype users around the world) happened after "a massive restart of our users' computers across the globe within a very short timeframe...after receiving a routine set of patches through Windows Update." Success Quotation - 08/17/07 01:18 PM
"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." -Robert Collier
Such a powerfull and motivational quote, in my opinion. Instead of attempting a large task all at one time, the same reults can be obtained from doing it a little bit at a time. The key, like the quote says, is to repeat your efforts until you have achieved your objective.

Article from Rismedia about how to keep a good employee - Good Read!!! - 08/17/07 11:57 AM
Great Article from Rismedia...
"While employees leave for a variety of reasons, the reality is the company simply failed to keep them. Many employers believe the ultimate secret to retaining employees is offering more money; however, studies continually show that while money is important - and may be the first answer given in an exit interview - it's rarely the number one reason for leaving a company."

Tai Chi and the Art of Real Estate - 08/16/07 08:30 PM

What is Tai Chi Ch'uan?
Most Westerners have a vague idea what Tai Chi Ch'uan is, but most think it is intended to be a way of becoming fit and healthy. The uninitiated also think the moves are easy and effortless. They see these old people on the TV and think "I could do that, there is nothing to it". In fact Tai Chi Ch'uan is a fighting skill and it is amongst the most powerful and effective of all martial arts. The moves may look easy when performed by an expert but the road to that seeming effortlessness needs great diligence … (3 comments)

Countrywide Financial Corp running into trouble - 08/16/07 08:10 PM

Like the entire mortgage industry these days, the company - which originates 17 percent of the mortgages in the United States - is having trouble raising the capital it needs to operate.

Know how to ZIP! - File compression program - 08/16/07 08:02 PM
I am still surprised to find out when I discover that they really don't know how to place files and put in in a zip file. Next to that is hearing when someone do not know how to extract the files from a zip file.

Windows Vista VS Windos XP Which would you choose? - 08/15/07 08:18 AM
I've recently purchased a new laptop for use with my Real Estate Business. I ended up getting one with the new Windows Vista operating system.
So the question is, do you really need to get windows vista at this point? Well it really depends on a few things.
Onse thing to look at is to see if you need to connect to your office's existing network and associate with the nestwork server (file, print, etc) and what operating system is currently being approved by your company's IT department. Most IT departments are still working with Windows XP professional on the desktop and notebooks. … (3 comments)

Real Estate Term of the Day - negative amortization - 08/14/07 09:52 PM
negative amortization Some adjustable rate mortgages allow the interest rate to fluctuate independently of a required minimum payment. If a borrower makes the minimum payment it may not cover all of the interest that would normally be due at the current interest rate. In essence, the borrower is deferring the interest payment, which is why this is called "deferred interest." The deferred interest is added to the balance of the loan and the loan balance grows larger instead of smaller, which is called negative amortization. Not a good thing to have happen!!!!

What do you think about Dual Agency? - 08/10/07 01:08 PM
Dual Agency - Occurs when the same brokerage, through one or more of their sales agents, has an agency relationship with both the buyer and the seller in a real estate transaction.
There is a potential conflict of interest in this situation.  It is legal, and can be managed, but the buyer and seller must agree in writing to proceed, and they must be advised to consult their attornies before signing and agreements.
