If you live or work in metro Atlanta, you know doubt had concerns about the cold weather and driving conditions the last few days. And maybe, like me, you find it easy to criticize our local governments.
However, I wanted to take a minute to compliment the City of Milton for providing timely email updates about the conditions of our local roads during the snow and ice event. I recently signed up to be on the City of Milton's mailing list and was pleasantly surprised to receive daily updates on the condition of the various roads around the city.

With little fanfare, the United States Postal Service announced in the summer of 2008 a new zip code for the southern portion of Alpharetta (and a tiny piece of Milton GA) - zip code 30009.
While the zip code was created due to growth in the area, unfortunately there is no new post office available to the public planned for the area. If you've ever been to the existing post office serving Alpharetta and Milton, you'll know there is a serious need for another facility, but it's doubtful one will be built in the foreseeable future.

As most of you have heard by now, last Friday President Obama signed The Worker, Homeownership and Business Asssistance Act of 2009 (Tax Act). We recently blogged in support of legislation to extend and expand the homebuyer's tax credit. Thankfully, both branches of Congress and The President recognized the importance of assisting the housing industry and passed the Tax Act.
