Evergreen Construction Company will have the “Easy To Use Invoice” for tax credit purposes. The consumer will have to retain that invoice document from Evergreen Construction Company and hand that in with their tax paperwork for the 2009 and/or the 2010 tax season, and the accountant handling the consumers’ taxes will apply that to the consumers’ tax filing for their tax credit.

As part of the Economic Stimulus package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 modifies and extends federal tax credits for eligible building components that improve energy efficiency. This allows a 30% credit for the amount paid by an individual for qualified improvements. The credit is limited to $1,500 for improvements made during 2009 and 2010.

The "American Recovery and Reinvestment act of 2009" is not a rebate; it is a means of reducing the amount a homeowner owes on their 2009 taxes (i.e. a tax deduction that, if claimed, will reduce the total amount a qualified homeowner is taxed in 2009.)

This bill does some things which the current energy tax credit under 25c does not. Primarily, there is no item by item cap like we have in the current tax code, which caps windows at $200 and the entire home improvements combined at $500. Effectively, any homeowner not buying Low E is throwing tax credits away. Note that the bill is for 2009 and 2010.

To be eligible, windows, doors and skylights must have either a U-Factor equal to or less than 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or less than 0.30. Not all windows meet the “Solar Heat Gain” requirements, please call us for details.

Add insulation to improve R-values from the average documented attic insulation values of R-15 in the North and R-13 in the South to R-38.

A tax credit is not like mortgage interest which reduces your gross taxable income; a tax credit comes right off of your tax bill, increasing your refund or decreasing your amount owed by that tax credit.
