My sellers frustration is shared by me!  He lives in a nationally renowned developers community, with new construction still going on and we can't put a "For Sale" out.  It is in the restrictions and no one can put signs out and or knows his townhouse is for sale.  In addition to the restriction on signs there is a self appointed "sign patrol"  that tours daily.  Not only do we have to deal with a trying market we can't market his townhouse properly!  I suggested he put a sign in the rear window of his truck "This Townhouse Is For Sale, Call XXX-XXXX".

He called me last week after hearing the new townhomes, not yet built, are selling for more than his and they have four  sold since he listed his.  Just had to vent, I know many of you are dealing with this same issue!  Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.  Maybe we should create something that would signify what is for sale in communities where no signage is allowed.  I put a child's red adirondack chair with a fern in one front flower bed and mentioned it in the agent to agent remarks, to specify which unit was for sale.  This doesn't help with the drive by's though!

Murrells Inlet offers two weekly excursions for serious cyclists.  On Thursdays in the afternoons I see a group of serious bikers ride by my house and again on Saturday mornings. I have seen these cyclists rain or shine, winter and summer,  I did a little investigating and found this information on the Murrells Inlet 2007 website:

As many of you know, Myrtle Beach South Carolina held Fox New's  Republican Debate last night and will be hosting the Democratic Debate

in the next two weeks.  It was awesome to see what a great job the Mrytle Beach Chamber of Commerce and  South Carolina Republican Party's local and state  chapters did to welcome our visitors.

The Sand Sculpture of the Candidates was a work of art and will be up for viewing for a few more days.  The Teamsandtastic once again went beyond our expectations and I can't wait to see what they do for the the Democrat Candidates.

Whether you are Republican or Democrat we are so blessed to live in this Country!  Just to be part of the election process is a privilege we all need to appreciate and honor it.  Events like this remind us everywhere that America is the best and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else and being a resident of South Carolina is a plus.

Visit Myrtle Beach South Carolina for some fun in the sun!!

With the holiday season behind us and winter days ahead, we all search for ways to pass the time and feed our minds.  Coastal Carolina University offers us great options with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The University, more than twenty years ago realized the need for continuing adult education and recently received a $100,000 grant from the San Francisco based philanthropic organization, Bernard Osher Foundation.  This grant is presented to 114 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLI) on colleges and campuses in 48 states, and Coastal Carolina University has nicknamed the program "OLLI at Coastal".

One of the appeals of our area is our growing cultural calendar and influence.  Coastal Carolina University has taken advantage of this by hiring renowned instructors and offering courses in five area centers.  This brings the courses to all our residents and offers a selection that covers all interests.

Have you thought about writing the next best seller?  Would you like to know more about the colorful past of the South and where you now live?  Are you planning a trip to Italy, Germany, France or another foreign country and would love to converse with the locals?  Have you always wanted to sing? To paint? To act or be involved in theater?  By visiting the website, www.coastal.edu/olli you will find many courses to feed and challenge your mind, body and soul.  Foreign Languages and Film, Art & Photography, Computer Technology, History & Government, Literature & Writing, Personal Growth & Skills, Religion & Philosphy, Science & Nature, Local Interest and International Travel, just name a few of the choices.

The Myrtle Beach Grand Strand is getting grander all the time!  Take advantage of what is happening and meet others with your same interest during these winter months...you will never know who and what you don't know until you do.

The annual Wooden Boat Show  will take place October 20 along the waterfront of Georgetown, South Carolina.  As the third oldest city in South Carolina, Georgetown has a long and important maritime history.  This festival celebrates that history and acts as a fund raiser for the future Georgetown County Maritime Museum.

Vendors display their wares, and boat lovers from all over visit our seaport.  One event, I love is all of the vintage boats that have been lovingly restored on display for everyone to view.  The Show offers their proud owners a chance to talk about these treasures and show the great restoration jobs that have taken place.

Another, unique and fun event is the actual Wooden Boat building contest that takes place. Teams are challenged to build a small wooden boat in a timed event and then have to row their entry across the river!  This is quite a feat...sometimes we have some boat builders who "are really wet"!  The building Challenge takes place from 12 - 4, and the actually race begins at 5.

Come celebrate our Maritime History on the 20th!  This free family celebration is an opportunity to see our beautiful, Bayfront community of Georgetown, South Carolina, where everyone is welcome.
